Wed Jan 2400:18Angels, Matt Moore Agree To One-Year Deal Tuesday
The Los Angeles Angels and free-agent relief pitcher Matt Moore agreed to a one-year, $9 million deal Tuesday, per Los Angeles Times' Mike DiGiovanna. The 34-year-old had a solid 2023 season across three teams, including the Angels, going 5-1 with 22 holds, a 2.56 ERA, a 1.16 WHIP, and a 27.5% strikeout rate in 52 2/3 innings pitched. Moore won't offer much fantasy value in conventional leagues due to his lack of saves, but his late-game usage over the past several seasons and strikeout upside make him worth a look in saves-plus-holds leagues.

Tue Sep 19 202316:05Marlins Claim Matt Moore Off Waivers From Guardians
The Miami Marlins claimed left-handed reliever Matt Moore off waivers from the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday, according to sources. The Guardians claimed Moore off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels earlier this month, but now he's on the move again. Moore won't be postseason-eligible if the Marlins end up winning the final wild-card spot in the National League. The 34-year-old veteran southpaw could surely give Miami's bullpen a boost down the stretch, though, as he's gone 4-1 with a 2.77 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 57 strikeouts in 48 2/3 relief innings this year for the Angels and Guardians. He wasn't as good in his five outings out of the bullpen for the Guardians, allowing two earned runs while striking out eight in 4 2/3 frames.

Thu Aug 31 202314:08Reynaldo Lopez, Matt Moore Heading To Cleveland
The Cleveland Guardians claimed relief pitchers Reynaldo Lopez and Matt Moore off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday, according to a source. Cleveland also landed starter Lucas Giolito as they try to make up ground in the American League Central -- they're currently five games behind the Twins. The 29-year-old Lopez will move into a late-inning setup role ahead of closer Emmanuel Clase in Cleveland. He's posted a 3.93 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 71 strikeouts in 55 relief innings in 2023 for the Chicago White Sox and Angels. Lopez also has his first six career saves this year. Moore, a 34-year-old left-handed veteran, will give Cleveland even more bullpen depth for the stretch run. He's been great for the Angels this year, sporting a 2.66 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 49 punchouts in 44 relief innings.

Los Angeles Angels relief pitcher Matt Moore (oblique) has been activated from the 15-day injured list on Friday. The left-hander has been sidelined since May due to an oblique issue. Before landing on the shelf, he had registered a brilliant 1.44 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 21/7 K/BB ratio across 25 innings. The 34-year-old is expected to resume his role as a high-leverage reliever out of the Halos bullpen.

Fri Jul 7 202321:16Matt Moore Scheduled To Face Hitters Saturday
Los Angeles Angels reliever Matt Moore (oblique) is scheduled to face hitters on Saturday. The 34-year-old appeared in 22 games before going down with an oblique strain in May, amassing a 3-1 record with a 1.44 ERA and 12 holds. But he has been working his way back since then, recently throwing a bullpen session during the week. As long as the left-hander continues to move in the right direction, he should be ready to go immediately after the All-Star break.

Sun Jun 25 202314:01Matt Moore Still Dealing With Soreness
Los Angeles Angels reliever Matt Moore (oblique) is still dealing with some soreness in his oblique and won't throw on Sunday, per manager Phil Nevin. Moore has been out since May 28 with a Grade 2 oblique strain and he was initially expected to be activated from the IL this upcoming week. He threw a simulated game on Saturday, which caused the soreness on Sunday. The Angels' skipper said it wasn't necessarily a setback but they're going to monitor Moore over the next 24 hours and see how he feels tomorrow. This throws off Moore's timetable and the Angels will likely be cautious with one of their best bullpen arms. They should provide another update on Monday.

Sat Jun 24 202323:58Matt Moore Won't Be Activated On Monday
Los Angeles Angels relief pitcher Matt Moore (oblique) threw again on Saturday. Unfortunately, he wasn't satisfied with how things went, meaning he won't be activated on Monday. The 34-year-old had played well before going down with a Grade 2 oblique strain at the end of May, amassing a 3-1 record with a 1.44 ERA, 21 strikeouts, and 12 holds. Moore will throw another session and take it from there, so hopefully, his return is right around the corner.

Sun Jun 18 202313:31Matt Moore Works A Bullpen Session On Sunday
Los Angeles Angels relief pitcher Matt Moore (oblique) threw a bullpen session on Sunday as he continues to make his way back from a Grade 2 oblique strain. Moore has been on the shelf since May 28 but has slowly been ramping his way back up. Obliques can be tricky but he hasn't suffered a setback yet. Moore was the Angels' most effective reliever before going down so his return would be a boon for the Halos bullpen.

Sat Jun 10 202322:11Matt Moore Plays Catch On Saturday
Los Angeles Angels relief pitcher Matt Moore (oblique) played catch ahead of Saturday's meeting with the Seattle Mariners. The 33-year-old has appeared in 22 games this season, amassing a 1.44 ERA with 21 strikeouts and 12 holds. Unfortunately, he suffered a right oblique strain at the end of May and landed on the 15-day injured list. Fortunately, Moore seems to be progressing, so fantasy managers in leagues that count holds will want to keep him stashed.

Sun May 28 202313:28Matt Moore Lands On The 15-Day Injured List
Los Angeles Angels relief pitcher Matt Moore (oblique) was placed on the 15-day injured list with a right oblique strain on Sunday. Moore is arguably the Angels' most effective reliever so this is a rough loss for the Halos. He put together an impressive 1.44 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, 21:7 K/BB ratio, and 12 holds over 25 innings (22 appearances). Austin Warren (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list to make room for Ben Joyce, who was recalled from Double-A Rocket City, to take Moore's place on the roster.

Thu Feb 16 202315:50Matt Moore Officially Agrees With Angels
Free-agent left-hander Matt Moore officially agreed to a one-year, $7.5 million deal with the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday. Moore could immediately become an option for saves for the Angels, alongside Carlos Estevez, Jimmy Herget and Ryan Tepera. A starter for the majority of his career, the 33-year-old veteran southpaw pitched exclusively in relief for the Texas Rangers and was fantastic with a 1.95 ERA (2.98 FIP), 1.18 WHIP, five saves and 83 strikeouts in 74 relief innings pitched. Estevez is still the likely favorite for the majority of save chances for the Halos, at least in the beginning of the season, but Moore is worth a flier in AL-only leagues for those speculating on saves.

Thu Feb 16 202312:00Angels Closing In On Deal With Matt Moore
The Los Angeles Angels are closing in on a deal with free-agent left-hander Matt Moore on Thursday, according to a source. The 33-year-old southpaw had a great 1.95 ERA and held opponents to a .564 OPS in 74 relief innings pitched for the Texas Rangers last year. The deal is expected to be for one year, but financial terms were not disclosed. In addition to his 1.95 ERA, Moore had a 1.18 WHIP, his first five career saves and 83 strikeouts. A starter for most of his career, he's likely to continue in a relief role for the Halos in 2023 and could be added to the saves committee in Anaheim alongside Carlos Estevez, Jimmy Herget and Ryan Tepera. At the bare minimum, Moore may be worth looking at in deep holds leagues in his new home.

Tue Aug 23 202200:49Matt Moore Earns Third Save Of Season Monday
Texas Rangers relief pitcher Matt Moore picked up his third save of the season in Monday's 2-1 win over the Twins. Moore turned in a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth inning with a strikeout to end the game. The veteran has pitched well out of the bullpen this season and now has a 2.05 ERA over 57 innings pitched. The Rangers have employed a number of arms in save situations this season and may not see a ton of them down the stretch, but Moore has now seen two in the last seven games. As such, he may be worth a look in deep roto leagues at this time for fantasy managers trying to catch up in saves.

Fri Jul 29 202210:05Matt Moore Converts His Second Save On Thursday
Texas Rangers reliever Matt Moore closed out the team's 2-0 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday to earn his second save of the season. He pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing one hit and no walks. The team's primary closer right now, Brett Martin, pitched on both Tuesday and Wednesday so he was likely unavailable for Thursday's contest. Martin has struggled a bit lately, allowing a total of five earned runs across his last three outings. Moore, meanwhile, has pitched to a minuscule 0.75 ERA across the month of July. One more rough outing from Martin could lead to a change in the ninth inning for Texas, but for now Martin should still be considered the top arm to roster for fantasy purposes.

Fri Sep 24 202108:04Matt Moore Lands On Injured List With Back Strain
The Philadelphia Phillies placed pitcher Matt Moore (back) on the 10-day injured list on Thursday. The team called up fellow pitcher Cristopher Sanchez from Triple-A in a corresponding move. Moore is dealing with a lower back strain. The move to the injured list is retroactive to September 20. The 32-year-old southpaw has been in and out of the starting rotation this year. He's made 24 total appearances (13 starts) and he has a 6.29 ERA and a 1.59 WHIP. He'll be eligible to return during the team's final series of the year against the Miami Marlins, but there's a solid chance we've seen the last of him this season.

Fri Aug 27 202110:14Matt Moore Allows Four Runs In Spot-Start Versus Arizona
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Matt Moore allowed four runs on seven hits across four innings to take the loss Thursday against the Diamondbacks. Moore was given the start after Zach Eflin (knee) was scratched during pregame warmups with discomfort in his knee. Moore has had a brutal season as he's sporting a 6.12 ERA, which would be the worst mark in the Majors if he had enough innings to qualify for the ERA leaderboard. Moore can safely be left on waivers in all fantasy formats.

Fri Aug 13 202117:59Matt Moore Is Starting On Saturday
Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Matt Moore will start for the team on Saturday against the Cincinnati Reds. Moore has made 17 appearances for the Phillies so far, nine of which have been starts. Overall he owns a 6.79 ERA and a 6.00 FIP in 50.1 innings this year to go along with 43 strikeouts and 22 walks. Fantasy managers are probably best off looking elsewhere for streaming options on Saturday, even in deeper leagues. Only four teams have hit more home runs than Cincinnati so far this season. What's more, the Reds are also in the top 10 in the league in both wRC+ and on-base percentage.
