The 25-year-old left-hander didn't pitch in 2013 due to a shoulder injury, but he was considered one of Colorado's top pitching prospects in the recent past. The Rockies designated Cabrera off the 40-man roster in October and Texas claimed him off waivers in hopes of salvaging value from Cabrera's lively left arm.

Troy Renck of the Denver Post reported earlier in the day that Cabrera was going to be removed from the 40-man roster. The 25-year-old left-hander didn't pitch in 2013 due to a shoulder injury, but he was considered one of Colorado's top pitching prospects not too long ago.

We've read nothing further regarding Cabrera, which probably means he isn't close to a rehab assignment. The 25-year-old lefty was placed on the 60-day disabled list in February. He's eligible for activation, but not healthy enough to pitch. Cabrera ranked as Colorado's ninth best prospect by MLB.com this offseason.

He'll get the ball Tuesday in place of Drew Pomeranz (arm), but Pomeranz is expected to make his next start, so Cabrera could be sent right back down. Given how badly he struggled in his major league debut, he should be avoided against the D'Backs.
