Molina signed a minor league contract with the Red Sox in December of 2014, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.
Molina spent 2014 with Double-A Birmingham in 2014, posting a 4.55 ERA and 1.31 WHIP over 61.1 innings at the level. He was added to the Red Sox's minor league system Monday, and will likely spend the season in the minors.

The move was made to create a spot on the 40-man roster for Andy Wilkins, whose contract was purchased from Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move. Molina, 25, posted a 4.65 ERA and 1.31 WHIP to go along with seven saves in 60 relief innings at Double-A Birmingham.

White Sox GM Rick Hahn said that this season will be a "rebuilding year" for Nestor Molina.
Molina, who came over in the Sergio Santos deal last offseason, struggled with injuries and effectiveness in 2012, but remains part of the White Sox's long-term plans. Now that he's finally healthy, the 24-year-old will focus on getting his career back on track. He posted a 4.26 ERA at the Double-A level this past season.

White Sox prospect right-hander Nestor Molina was placed on the disabled list with Double-A Birmingham due to an elbow injury.
The White Sox have yet to make an official announcement on his status, but Spanish-language reports have indicated that he is dealing with elbow tendinitis. We should know more after results of an MRI are made available. Molina, who was acquired from the Blue Jays during the offseason in the Sergio Santos deal, has a 5.01 ERA and 63/20 K/BB ratio over 14 starts and one relief appearance this season between Double- and Triple-A.

White Sox pitching prospect Nestor Molina was sent back down to Double-A Birmingham after allowing six runs on nine hits over four innings Monday with Triple-A Charlotte.
Molina was promoted to the Triple-A level on Monday, but it was apparently only for spot-start duty. The 23-year-old right-hander has a 3.72 ERA and 25/5 K/BB ratio in 36 1/3 innings with Double-A Birmingham this season and could make his way to the major league roster later this summer.

Molina earned the promotion by registering a 3.72 ERA and 25/5 K/BB ratio in 36 1/3 innings this year at the Double-A level. The 23-year-old was acquired from the Blue Jays in the offseason for reliever Sergio Santos.

The mass exodus also included catcher Michael Blanke, infielder Tyler Kuhn and outfielders Jared Mitchell and Trayce Thompson, who were reassigned to minor league camp. Molina, who was acquired from the Blue Jays in December for closer Sergio Santos, is the biggest name of the bunch. The 23-year-old right-hander posted a 2.21 ERA and 148/16 K/BB ratio in 130 1/3 innings last season between High-A and Double-A and could find himself in the majors at some point in 2012.

Nestor Molina fared much better in his second outing of the spring Friday, allowing just one hit while striking out two in two scoreless innings of work against the Cubs.
Molina got shelled to the tune of five runs and seven hits in just 1 1/3 innings by the Dodgers on Monday. Likely to begin the year in Double-A, it's not out of the question that Molina could be in the rebuilding South Siders' bullpen by mid-season.

Nestor Molina got shelled by the Dodgers in his exhibition debut for the White Sox on Monday, allowing five runs on seven hits in just 1 1/3 innings.
He allowed four extra-base hits, including a triple to Ivan DeJesus and home run to Scott Van Slyke. Chicago's return in the Sergio Santos trade will likely begin the season at Double-A.

It's nice to see the Pale Hose make an effort to improve the talent pool in their farm system. Molina, 22, registered a sparkling 2.21 ERA and 148/16 K/BB ratio in 130 1/3 innings this past year between Single-A and Double-A. He's quickly becoming a top pitching prospect and should continue improving in the White Sox system.
