Tue Aug 4 201510:19The Brewers assigned Hellweg to High-A Brevard County on Monday
The Brewers assigned Hellweg to High-A Brevard County on Monday, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Hellweg is still working his way back from Tommy John surgery, and the Brewers decided to move him down a level after five unsuccessful starts with Double-A Biloxi. Hellweg continues to work as a starter, but if his troubles linger much longer, the Brewers may opt to move him to a bullpen role.

Hellweg has been transfered to Double-A Biloxi.
Hellweg began his return back from Tommy John surgery at High-A Brevard County in May and seems to be progressing accordingly as his move to Biloxi suggests. The Michigan native didn't have the best stint at Brevard County, however, as he pitched 15.0 innings that resulted in 19 hits, eight walks, and 15 earned runs. Nevertheless, his time spent in the minors should be viewed as the last step in his recovery process while he works on his mechanics and puts less of an emphasis on results.

Hellweg (elbow) was activated from the disabled list Tuesday and assigned to High-A Brevard County.
Hellweg is set to resume pitching in games after recovering from Tommy John surgery. While he will open at the High-A level, his stay there figures to brief, and he should move back up a couple levels once he regains his stamina. He worked as a starter prior to his elbow injury, but it remains to be seen how he will be used over the final few months of the season.

Hellweg (elbow) will head to High-A Brevard County to begin a rehab assignment next week, MLB.com's Adam McCalvy reports.
Hellweg has 155.2 innings at Triple-A and 30.2 innings at the big league level under his belt, so he could climb the organizational ladder relatively quickly if he can avoid setbacks in his return from Tommy John surgery. He has struggled to duplicate the high strikeout numbers he was posting in the Angels' organization prior to being traded to the Brewers and has therefore lost most of his prospect shine.

Hellweg (elbow) has been dealing with a strained back and was recently shut down, MLB.com reports.
Hellweg is reportedly starting to feel better but will still stay behind at extended spring training. He's working his way back from Tommy John surgery, so the shut down probably wont have much of an impact on his timetable, as long as it doesn't last beyond a week or two. The Brewers hope Hellweg can make to it High-A Brevard County by the end of April, and he could eventually be an option for the big-league bullpen later in the season.

The Brewers optioned Hellweg (elbow) to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Tuesday.
Hellweg is still working his way back from Tommy John surgery and won't be an option for the Brewers at the beginning of the season, so the team decided to officially remove him from contention for a major league roster spot. It's not clear when Hellweg will be ready for game action, but he will be a year removed from his surgery at the end of April.

Hellweg (elbow) will likely open at High-A Brevard County once he's healthy enough for game action this season, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Currently more than nine months removed from Tommy John surgery, Hellweg is expected to be able to pitch in game by the end of spring training. If everything goes as planned with the final stages of his rehab from Tommy John surgery, he could emerge as a mid-season option to join the bullpen in Milwaukee. Prior to reporting to Brevard County, Hellweg will likely stay in Arizona for extended spring training.

Tue Apr 29 201410:06Brewers' Hellweg to undergo Tommy John
Brewers prospect right-hander Johnny Hellweg (elbow) will undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery on Tuesday.
Hellweg was diagnosed with a torn ulnar collateral ligament last week and a second opinion confirmed the injury. In addition to missing the rest of this season, the 25-year-old will likely still be in rehab mode at the start of 2015. Acquired from the Angels in the Zack Greinke deal, Hellweg was ranked as the Brewers' No. 5 prospect by Baseball America this past winter.

Tue Apr 22 201418:17Brewers prospect Hellweg has torn UCL
Brewers pitching prospect Johnny Hellweg has been diagnosed with a torn ulnar collateral ligament.
Hellweg is scheduled to see Dr. James Andrews, who will surely recommended Tommy John surgery for the big right-hander. One of the Brewers' top prospects, Hellweg had posted a 4.95 ERA over his first four starts at Triple-A Nashville. The 25-year-old would obviously miss all of 2014 and the beginning of 2015 if he goes under the knife.

Thu Apr 10 201410:57Brewers RHP Hellweg walks 4 in second start
Brewers right-handed pitching prospect Johnny Hellweg struggled with his command on Wednesday night, walking four, allowing five hits, and three runs in his start for Triple-A Nashville.
Hellweg is the Triple-A Pacific Coast League's reigning MVP, so his early-season struggles are surprising. He has a 4.35 ERA in 10 1/3 innings, allowing eight hits, walking six, and hitting one batter, while striking out nine. He will be the first pitcher called up by the Brewers in the event of an injury, but if he has more poor outings he may be permanently moved to the bullpen.

Brewers optioned RHP Johnny Hellweg to Triple-A Nashville.
Hellweg is closing in on a permanent spot in the big leagues, but his ascension won't be completed by Opening Day. He went 12-5 with a 3.15 ERA with the Sounds last season. Expect the 6-foot-9 right-hander to get another shot with the Brewers this summer. He went 1-4 with a 6.75 ERA over 30 2/3 frames with the Crew in 2013.

Thu Feb 20 201421:18Johnny Hellweg bulks up over offseason
Johnny Hellweg reported to Brewers' camp at 245 pounds after finishing last season at 208 pounds.
Hellweg admits to wearing down late last season, so he worked hard at putting on some good weight over the winter in hopes of staying strong throughout 2014. "Just worked out hard, changed my diet, ate right," said Hellweg. "I cut out a lot of bad stuff in my diet. Mostly protein and carbs, no gluten. It helped. It was a lot of work, actually. In the end I was sick of eating so much this offseason. It's a grind." The big right-hander is ticketed for the Triple-A rotation to start this season.

Thu Sep 26 201322:40Johnny Hellweg is wild again versus Mets
Johnny Hellweg was lifted after allowing one run in four innings Thursday against the Mets.
Hellweg walked four, hit two and threw a wild pitch, but the Mets couldn't capitalize. Hellweg ends the year with an incredible 9/26 K/BB ratio in 30 2/3 innings for the Brewers. He'll return to Triple-A to begin next year.

Sat Sep 21 201300:18Hellweg takes no-decision vs. Cardinals
Johnny Hellweg allowed two runs over five innings in a no-decision against the Cardinals on Friday.
Hellweg left with the lead, but the bullpen couldn't hold it. He gave up seven hits and five walks while striking out just one batter, so he was far from effective. The 24-year-old rookie has a brutal 7.43 ERA and 6/22 K/BB ratio over 26 2/3 innings in the majors this season and shouldn't be trusted in any fantasy league right now.

Sat Sep 14 201316:37Hellweg gives up four runs in loss to Reds
Johnny Hellweg gave up four runs in five innings Saturday in a loss to the Reds.
Hellweg allowed eight hits (including a two-run homer to Shin-Soo Choo) and one walk while striking out just one batter. The rookie right-hander now owns an ugly 8.31 ERA and 5/17 K/BB ratio over 21 2/3 innings in the majors. He's not fantasy relevant.

Johnny Hellweg surrendered three runs in six innings Saturday in the Brewers' win over the Cubs.
It wasn't a lights-out effort, but the Milwaukee offense provided five runs and Hellweg came away with his first career major league victory. The 24-year-old right-hander will carry an 8.64 ERA and 2.34 WHIP into his next scheduled start at home against the Reds.

Mon Sep 2 201317:24Brewers making September call-ups
The Brewers will call up right-handers Johnny Hellweg and Jimmy Nelson and first baseman/outfielder Sean Halton on Tuesday.
Triple-A Nashville wrapped up their season on Monday, so the Brewers will add them as September call-ups. Hellweg and Halton have had previous stints with the big club, but Nelson will be making his major league debut.
