Cubs sent RHP Lendy Castillo outright to Triple-A Iowa.
Castillo was designated for assignment by Chicago in late January and made it through waivers unclaimed. The 23-year-old right-hander will serve as organizational relief depth for the Cubs again this season.

Cubs designated RHP Lendy Castillo for assignment.
The Cubs finally made the signing of Carlos Villanueva official on Saturday, and Castillo was the casualty on the 40-man roster. The 23-year-old posted a 7.88 ERA, 2.25 WHIP and 13/12 K/BB ratio over 16 innings with the Cubs in 2012, but has a live arm and shouldn't have difficulty finding another team willing to give him a chance.

Cubs activated RHP Lendy Castillo from the 15-day disabled list.
Castillo, a Rule 5 pick last December, has been out since early May with a left groin strain. As long as he doesn't implode over the next two weeks, he won't be offered back to the Phillies.

The Cubs are expected to activate Lendy Castillo (groin) from the disabled list Saturday.
A Rule 5 pick, Castillo has been out since early May with a left groin strain. He held a 7.04 ERA and 1.83 WHIP in 7 2/3 innings before the injury.

Lendy Castillo (groin) threw four innings Friday for the Cubs' Rookie League affiliate.
This is the first update we've had on Castillo since he was placed on the disabled list in early May. As a Rule 5 pick, the Cubs will need to decide whether to add him to the active roster or offer him back to the Phillies when he completes his rehab assignment.

Cubs placed RHP Lendy Castillo on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 12, with a left groin strain.
The strain is being referred to as "moderate," so it could be more than a minimum stay on the DL for the Rule 5 pick. Scott Maine takes his spot on the roster.

Lendy Castillo has been diagnosed with a moderate groin strain and may be placed on the disabled list.
The Cubs have flown in Scott Maine just in case Castillo's groin shows no improvement over the next several hours. The Rule 5 Draft pick has posted a rough 7.04 ERA and 1.83 WHIP in 7 2/3 innings this season.
