Fri Jul 14 202314:38Ryan Tepera To Opt Out Of Deal
Texas Rangers relief pitcher Ryan Tepera has decided to opt out of his minor-league deal with the organization. The 35-year-old signed a minor-league deal with the team last month after being released by the Los Angeles Angels. He struggled heavily during his time with the Angels, but pitched well in the minors. Tepera didn't allow a run across 10 innings of work with 16 strikeouts in the minors with Texas. The nine-year veteran has experienced plenty of success throughout his career. It's possible another organization will give him a chance on their MLB roster.

Wed Jun 14 202322:24Rangers Add Ryan Tepera On Minor-League Deal
The Texas Rangers signed free-agent relief pitcher Ryan Tepera to a minor-league deal on Wednesday. He'll stay in the American League West and will report to Triple-A Round Rock after choosing free agency at the end of May. Tepera spent the last year and a half pitching for the Los Angeles Angels, and he had a rough 7.27 ERA (5.70 FIP), 2.08 WHIP, three walks and 10 strikeouts in 8 2/3 relief innings for the Halos this year. The 35-year-old veteran right-hander will provide organizational relief depth for Texas for the time being, but he's well off the fantasy radar. In nine big-league seasons with four different teams, Tepera has a 3.59 career ERA (4.06 FIP), 1.13 WHIP, 18 saves and a 24.5 percent strikeout rate in 363 1/3 innings pitched.

Sun Apr 16 202317:23Ryan Tepera Placed On The 15-Day IL
Los Angeles Angels relief pitcher Ryan Tepera landed on the 15-day injured list on Sunday. The right-hander exited Saturday's matchup with the Red Sox and will now go on the shelf because of shoulder inflammation. Tepera has struggled this season, sporting a 1-1 record with two holds. He also has a miserable 11.25 ERA in six relief appearances. Hopefully, some time away will help the 35-year-old get on track. Either way, he has some work to do before earning a place on fantasy rosters. In a corresponding move, LA recalled righty Andrew Wantz from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Tue Aug 9 202200:15Ryan Tepera Picks Up Save Monday
Los Angeles Angels relief pitcher Ryan Tepera picked up his second save of the season in Monday's 1-0 win over the A's. Tepera got the call to end the game and delivered a 1-2-3 inning with no strikeouts. The veteran has seen save opportunities at times throughout his career and has managed a decent 3.95 ERA through 41 innings pitched this season. However, four different relievers have seen save opportunities for the Angels since the trade deadline, when Raisel Iglesias was traded. Tepera may be the best bet for fantasy managers chasing saves given his prior experience, but his fantasy value is still low given how poorly the Angels have played and the uncertainty at the back of the bullpen.

Thu Mar 17 202216:49Ryan Tepera Signs Two-Year Deal With Angels
The Los Angeles Angels have signed relief pitcher Ryan Tepera to a two-year deal worth $14 million. The 34-year-old split the 2021 season with the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox. Overall, he appeared in 65 games and pitched to a 2.79 ERA and a 0.88 WHIP while averaging 10.9 K/9. He compiled two saves and 22 holds over the course of the year. Raisel Iglesias is currently set to be the Angels' closer going into 2022. Tepera could wind up being one of the top setup men in front of Iglesias. Fantasy managers in deep leagues who are looking for setup men who can rack up holds should keep Tepera on their radar.

Sat Jul 31 202102:55Joey Votto homers for 7th straight game, 1 shy of MLB record
NEW YORK (AP) — Joey Votto homered for the seventh straight game, one shy of a major league record, and the Cincinnati Reds beat the New York Mets 6-2 on Friday night. Jonathan India went deep twice for the Reds, including a leadoff shot that came on Carlos Carrasco’s first pitch with the Mets. Acquired from Cleveland in January, the veteran right-hander finally made his New York debut after recovering from a hamstring injury. It was an up-and-down day for the Mets, who made a big deal to get Javier Báez from the Chicago Cubs before baseball’s trade deadline — and then revealed injured ace Jacob deGrom will be shut down for two more weeks because of inflammation in his pitching elbow, making it unlikely he’ll rejoin the NL East leaders before September. Báez was acquired from the Cubs along with right-hander Trevor Williams for outfield prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong, the Mets’ first-round pick in the 2020 amateur draft. Báez is expected to join the Mets on Saturday and will play shortstop... [More]

Fri Jul 30 202119:05White Sox get closer Kimbrel from Cubs for Madrigal, Heuer
CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago White Sox acquired closer Craig Kimbrel from the crosstown Cubs on Friday, a move that should give the AL Central leaders a fearsome bullpen for their playoff push. The White Sox already had one of baseball's best closers in All-Star Liam Hendriks. Now the South Siders add Kimbrel, who has a 0.49 ERA and 23 saves in 25 opportunities for the Cubs this season and leads NL relievers in strikeout rate and opponents' batting average. Kimbrel ranks ninth with 371 career saves during his 12 years in the majors. White Sox manager Tony La Russa said he had a plan for how to use both closers, but was not ready to divulge specifics. “On any given day, one may be available, the other one may not be,” general manager Rick Hahn said. “It puts us in a position where we have a very dynamic and impactful bullpen regardless of the situation that arises in each game.” The White Sox paid quite a price to get Kimbrel: They sent second baseman Nick Madrigal, a budding star who is out... The struggling Chicago Cubs traded the 33-year-old right-hander to the crosstown White Sox on Thursday for minor league lefty Bailey Horn, giving the AL Central-leading White Sox some bullpen help for the rest of the season and maybe the playoffs, too. “It’s kind of a unique thing for a trade to happen between crosstown rivals. Thu Jul 29 202115:22Ryan Tepera Traded To White Sox
Chicago Cubs relief pitcher Ryan Tepera has been traded to the Chicago White Sox for pitcher Bailey Horn, the White Sox announced on Twitter Thursday. The White Sox get the bullpen upgrade that they needed in Tepera, who has been one of the best relievers in baseball over the last two years with a 3.23 ERA, 0.984 WHIP and 31.9 percent strikeout rate over 64 innings since 2020. While he won't be vying for saves with Liam Hendriks firmly entrenched as the team's closer, Tepera should see a boost in value in SV/HLD formats now that he has a better lineup behind him. Horn was a fifth round pick by the White Sox in last year's draft, and over 38 1/3 innings of work this season, he has gone 2-3 with a 5.63 ERA, 1.330 WHIP and 27.3 percent strikeout rate.
