Fri Mar 117:12Nick Castellanos Goes Hitless Friday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos went hitless in a pair of at-bats in Friday's Grapefruit League contest versus the Miami Marlins. The veteran flew out to center field in his first trip to the plate in the second inning before lining out to third base in the fourth. The hitless effort lowered his spring-training average to just .125 (1-for-8) with a pair of strikeouts against zero walks across eight trips to the plate. The 31-year-old was involved in minor trade speculation this offseason on the heels of a season that saw him hit .272 with 29 home runs, 11 stolen bases, and a career-high 106 RBI and 11 stolen bases. Aside from an odd 2022 season, Castellanos is a fairly safe power bet with ATC projecting 24 home runs, eight stolen bases, 87 RBI, and a .263 average for the outfielder in the 2024 season.

Thu Nov 9 202317:06Nick Castellanos Could Be Dealt By Phillies
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos could reportedly be traded by the club this offseason. The Phillies are "open to the possibility" of trading Castellanos which could clear three years and $60 million off their books. The veteran enjoyed a solid bounce-back season in his second year with the Phillies, hitting .272 with a career-high 29 home runs and 11 stolen bases across 157 appearances. He went on to slug five more home runs alongside an .843 OPS in 47 postseason at-bats before the Phillies were eliminated by the D-backs in the NLCS. Should the Phillies shop Castellanos, they should have a fairly wide range of suitors considering his career .276 average and .799 OPS in parts of 11 seasons, production that grades out 12% above the league average, as per his career 112 wRC+.

Fri Oct 13 202312:13Nick Castellanos Goes Deep Twice To Send Braves Packing
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos was the difference in the series-clinching 3-1 win over the Atlanta Braves on Thursday in Game 4 of the National League Division Series. Castellanos was seeing the ball well, going 3-for-3 with two solo home runs and a walk to send the Phillies to the Championship Series for the second straight year with an NLDS series win over their division rivals and the best team in baseball record-wise in 2023. The 31-year-old has a whopping four home runs in back-to-back games after slugging 29 long balls during the regular season. Castellanos is red-hot heading into an NLCS matchup against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He's gone 9-for-23 (.391) with four homers, two doubles, five RBI, a steal and six runs scored in six postseason games this year.

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos is getting a rest day on Monday against the Miami Marlins. In his absence, Brandon Marsh is starting in right field and is batting seventh against Marlins right-hander Edward Cabrera. Johan Rojas is starting in center field and hitting in the nine-hole. Marsh will look to stay hot offensively to close out the month of July after going 19-for-64 (.297) with no homers, five doubles, two triples, eight RBI, two stolen bases and six runs scored in 21 games so far in the month. He hasn't gone deep since a two-homer performance back on June 27.

Sun Jul 16 202313:06Nick Castellanos Taking A Seat On Sunday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the San Diego Padres. This looks to just be a routine day off for the veteran outfielder. Johan Rojas is starting in center field while Kyle Schwarber and Brandon Marsh round out the corner outfield spots. After a disappointing debut with the Phillies last season, Castellanos is putting together an excellent 2023. He's slashing .292/.333/.478 with 13 home runs, 55 RBI, and six stolen bases over 360 at-bats.

Thu Jun 29 202301:55Nick Castellanos Smacks 10th Homer To Continue Rebound
Philadelphia Phillies right fielder Nick Castellanos went 2-for-5 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs scored in Wednesday's 8-5 win over the Chicago Cubs. The 31-year-old has been virtually allergic to slumps all season. Since April 7 (71 games), Castellanos hasn't gone longer than two games without logging a hit as a remarkable model of consistency. Better yet, the former Silver Slugger is hitting .371 with a 1.015 OPS, five homers, 21 RBI, and three stolen bases over 89 June at-bats. Castellanos has succeeded as a bet-on-talent fantasy pick thus far after an uncharacteristically weak Philly debut season. Overall, the slugger is batting .314 with an .857 OPS, 10 big flies, 49 RBI and five swipes across 303 ABs.

Tue Jun 20 202316:12Nick Castellanos Back From Illness Tuesday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos (illness) is back in the starting lineup against right-hander Spencer Strider and the division-rival Atlanta Braves on Tuesday. Castellanos is in right field and is hitting in the three-hole. He missed the final two games of the weekend series against the Oakland Athletics with an upset stomach, but he's feeling better now and should be returned to all starting fantasy lineups. The 31-year-old veteran slugger is in the midst of a bounce-back year in his second year in Philadelphia, hitting .315 (87-for-276) with 23 doubles, a triple, eight home runs, 42 RBI, four steals and 44 runs scored in 70 games. Castellanos is also riding a six-game hitting streak in which he's gone 10-for-28 (.357) with two doubles, a homer, six RBI and a steal.

Sun Jun 18 202313:55Nick Castellanos Remains Out On Sunday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos (illness) is still absent from the lineup on Sunday against the Oakland Athletics. The veteran outfielder hasn't played since June 16 while dealing with an illness so fantasy managers can still consider him day-to-day. Josh Harrison is starting in right field in his place on Sunday against the A's. The team should provide an update on Castellanos' status following Sunday's game.

Castellanos has quietly been raking this season as he picked up two more hits in Thursday's win. He's notched a multi-hit performance in 4-of-5 games and eight contests overall since the calendar flipped to June. The recent surge has lifted his batting line to an impressive .316/.359/.496 to go along with eight home runs, 42 RBI, and four stolen bases over 272 at-bats.

Sat Jun 3 202309:30Nick Castellanos Stuffs Stat Sheet With Massive Effort
Philadelphia Phillies right fielder Nick Castellanos went 4-for-5 on Friday and took Washington Nationals pitcher Josiah Gray yard twice, but the team's comeback attempt ultimately came up just short as they fell 8-7. The 31-year-old closed with five RBI and a stolen base to top it off. After showing few signs of life amidst his disappointing Phillies debut season in 2022, Castellanos is enjoying a splendid resurgence in 2023. The former Silver Slugger is up to a .311 average with the four-hit pursuit to go with seven homers, 34 RBI, and three thefts. Castellanos possesses one of fantasy's most desirable environments as Philly's third or fourth hitter most days with a number of household names surrounding him. Continue to set and forget the former All-Star in your daily lineups.

Mon May 22 202314:28Nick Castellanos Picks Up Two Hits In Win Over Cubs
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos went 2-for-4 with a double in the team's 2-1 win over the visiting Chicago Cubs on Sunday. The double was Castellanos' first extra-base hit since May 9. Despite the lack of power of late, the 31-year-old outfielder is hitting .303 (54-for-178) with 15 doubles, five home runs, 26 RBI, two stolen bases and 32 runs scored in 192 plate appearances and 46 games so far this year. Fantasy managers certainly can't complain about that after he hit just .263 with 13 home runs and 62 RBI in 136 games in his first year in Philly in 2022. He's hitting .288 (19-for-66) with five doubles, only one home run, nine RBI and two thefts in 17 games in the month of May.

Thu May 11 202311:52Nick Castellanos Adds To Resurgent Season In Win
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos went 2-for-4 with his first stolen base of the year in a 2-1 walk-off win over the Blue Jays on Wednesday. In his last game, Castellanos went 3-for-4 with a homer, putting the 31-year-old up to a .336 average (36-for-107) with five bombs and 18 RBI over the last month of play. It's a huge leap from Castellanos' dismal Phillies debut season when he logged a weak .694 OPS. The former Silver Slugger leads the NL in doubles (14), but stolen bases could be sporadic for right fielder. Castellanos looks to terrorize the substandard Rockies pitching staff during an upcoming weekend series at the hitters paradise that is Coors Field, which would only continue to amplify the former all-star's surging fantasy value.

Thu Apr 27 202300:20J.P Crawford Smacks A Grand Slam Wednesday
In Wednesday's Seattle Mariners game, J.P. Crawford had an impressive performance against the Phillies, going 3-for-4 with a double and a grand slam. He kicked off the second inning with a bang, hitting a grand slam off Taijuan Walker, followed by a solo homer from Julio Rodriguez. Crawford's outing included hitting a single in the seventh inning and a double in the ninth. However, he came up just short of a cycle missing a triple. Despite being in the ninth spot of the batting order, Crawford has been incredibly successful at the plate this season, batting .271/.407/.414 with 14 runs scored in 87 at-bats.

Thu Apr 27 202300:07Nick Castellanos Homers Twice On Wednesday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos continued to stay hot after launching two home runs in the Phillies' 6-5 win over the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday. Castellanos is hitting .429/.429/.786 with three home runs over the past seven games. He is arguably the hottest hitter in baseball, despite the Phillies failing to stay above .500. The 31-year-old went 3-for-4 at the plate while collecting three RBI, which brings his RBI count to 16. Castellanos only hit one home run before Wednesday's game, but he may start to lift the ball consistently after his two-homer show. On the season, the Florida native is slashing .333/.396/.531 with a .174 ISO and a 138 wRC+.

Sat Apr 22 202322:54Nick Castellanos Homers Twice In Win Over Rockies
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos went 3-for-4 with a double and two solo home runs in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Rockies. Before Saturday, he hadn't homered since August 27, 2022. The 31-year-old ended his power draught blasting two home runs off Rockies southpaw Kyle Freeland in Saturday's victory. He took Freeland deep in the second inning to put the Phillies on the scoreboard and later blasted another solo shot in the sixth frame to give Philadelphia a 4-3 lead. Despite the lack of power, Castellanos has been productive in 2023. The veteran is slashing .310/.383/.500 with two home runs, 13 RBI, and 18 runs this season. Fantasy managers should continue to roll with Castellanos in all league formats.

Mon Feb 20 202305:58Nick Castellanos Simplifying Swing
Philadelphia Phillies outfielderNick Castellanos is making some mechanical adjustments to his swing to simplify it. Castellanos said, "I was trying to do too much. Whenever I add movement, I try too hard. His bat moved a lot last season, which threw off his timing and slowed his bat down. The 30-year-old is working with Phillies hitting coach Kevin Long to create a more simpler stroke. The Florida native went from a .939 OPS in 2021 to nearly 300 points less in the form of a .694 mark. He slashed .263/.305/.389 in 2022 and hit just 13 HRs with an appalling .126 ISO. Castellanos hopes to get his bat on track as the Phillies prepare for another year in contention.

Wed Oct 12 202200:14Nick Castellanos Plates Three In NLDS Game 1 Win Tuesday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos had a big day at the plate in Tuesday's Nationals League Division Series Game 1 7-6 win over the Braves. Castellanos went 3-for-5 with two singles, a double, and three RBI. The Phillies' lineup would receive a major boost if Castellanos can get hot in the playoffs, as he posted a disappointing .263/.305/.389 slash line with 13 home runs and 62 RBI during the regular season. The Phillies will hope that he can produce more in line with his career slash line of .276/.326/.475 to help them make a deep playoff run.

Thu Sep 29 202211:27Nick Castellanos Not Starting Thursday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos is not in the starting lineup on Thursday against the Chicago Cubs as the Phillies look to snap their four-game losing skid. Castellanos just returned from the injured list on Tuesday from an oblique injury, and he's gone 4-for-7 with four singles since his return, but the team will give him a day off heading into the weekend. It's been a disappointing year for the 30-year-old overall after he hit a career-high 34 home runs for the Reds in 2021, as he's slashing .269/.309/.399 with 13 long balls and 61 RBI in 130 games in 2022 for the Phils. Matt Vierling is getting the start in right field on Thursday and is hitting ninth against Cubs right-hander Javier Assad.

Tue Sep 27 202217:26Nick Castellanos Back From Injured List
The Philadelphia Phillies reinstated outfielder Nick Castellanos (oblique) from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday and optioned catcher Donny Sands to Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move. Castellanos is starting in right field and is hitting sixth on Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs and right-hander Marcus Stroman. The 30-year-old Castellanos missed almost a month with a right oblique strain and didn't go on a minor league rehab assignment, so it remains to be seen how effective he'll be at the plate for fantasy managers to close out what has been a very disappointing first year in Philly. He's returning to a .265/.305/.397 slash line with 13 home runs, 61 RBI, 53 runs scored and seven stolen bases in 499 at-bats. Castellanos made the All-Star team for the first time in 2021 and hit .309 with a career-high 34 home runs and 100 RBI.
