Thu Mar 7 201901:45Dodgers haven't ruled out Kershaw for opening day yet
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Clayton Kershaw has not yet been ruled out for opening day by the Los Angeles Dodgers despite all the time he's missed at spring training with a sore left shoulder.Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that, for now at least, Kershaw remains scheduled to start March 28 for the two-time defending NL champions even though it seems unlikely based on the progress the three-time Cy Young Award winner would need to make in the next few weeks."I don't think we've made that decision yet and I know that Honey (pitching coach Rick Honeycutt) has mapped out where we need to be, so right now we're not ready to make that decision," Roberts said. "We're just right now in a day-to-day with Clayton and trying to keep him in a positive state of mind."Kershaw played catch with teammate Rich Hill on Tuesday's off day and lined up down the right-field line with fellow pitchers Wednesday as several played catch. Kershaw's partner was bullpen catcher Steve Cilladi.Although Cilladi... [More]

Reed had spent the entire season with the Bats.Dixon hit .219 with a home run over 29 games, including 2 for 8 with two RBIs as a pinch hitter. To make room on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers designated right-hander Daniel Corcino for assignment.___More AP baseball: https://apnews.com/tag/MLBbaseball

Corcino was designated for assignment by the Dodgers on Wednesday.
Corcino was the unfortunate ancillary move to clear space on the 40-man roster for Xavier Cedeno, who was acquired by the Dodgers on Wednesday. He allowed one run over 0.2 innings in his brief stint with Double-A Tulsa.

Corcino was claimed off waivers by the Dodgers on Friday.
Corcino's prospect stock peaked in 2012, when the right-hander posted a 3.01 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 7.9 K/9 in 26 starts fir Double-A Pensacola as a 21-year-old. However, he struggled with the move up to Triple-A in 2013 and was forced to repeat Double-A last season. The results were lackluster and the Reds seemingly lost faith, designating the 24-year-old for assignment Monday. The Dodgers may give Corcino a look in a bullpen role, or perhaps they'll get him stretched back out for starting pitching depth.

Corcino was designated for assignment Monday.
Corcino was already with Triple-A Louisville to begin the season, but he'll be removed from the 40-man roster in order to make room for the recent additions of Josh Smith and Kyle Skipworth.

The Reds optioned Corcino to Triple-A Louisville on Monday.
The Reds are dabbling with the idea of turning Corcino into a reliever, but that transition will have to continue in the minors to begin the season.

The Reds might opt to use Corcino in the bullpen at the big league level, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Corcino has generally had good reviews for his stuff, but he hasn't been able to put it all together at the upper levels of the minors. This is a fairly common path for pitching prospects - if they can't cut it as a starter, they still might have value as a max-effort reliever.

Corcino gave up two runs on four hits while striking out a pair and walking four over 4.1 innings against the Brewers on Wednesday.
The young right-hander took the loss on a night where Kyle Lohse tossed a two-hit shutout. Corcino made five appearances for the Reds this season -- including three starts -- compiling a 15:10 K:BB in 18.2 innings. Most likely, he'll begin 2015 in the rotation at Triple-A Louisville, a few slots away from a starting gig for the Reds. Just 24, Corcino still has time to fulfill the potential that once made him one of the organization's top pitching prospects.

Corcino allowed two runs over six innings Friday night against the Brewers in his first major league start. He gave up two hits and a walk while striking out four. If Mat Latos can't make his next start, Corcino will get another start, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
All in all this was a pretty solid debut start. "We didn't know what to expect," Reds manager Bryan Price said about Corcino. "He impressed me a great deal. No. 1, he threw the ball over the plate consistently. And No. 2, he competed extremely well. He was able to throw his breaking ball and changeup for strikes behind in the count. He's a little bit more polished than I anticipated seeing and he handled that situation very, very well."
Fri Sep 12 201415:31Corcino will start Friday against Brewers
Corcino will start Friday against the Brewers, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
Corcino will get a spot start Friday for Mat Latos, who is dealing with a bone bruise in his right elbow. The start will be his first in the majors, with his first two outings coming out of the bullpen. He spent most of the year at Double-A, where he posted a 4.13 ERA and 1.35 WHIP over 143.2 innings. The 23-year-old will look for some similar success in his first major league start Friday against the Brewers.

The Reds called up Corcino again as part of their September roster expansion.
The interesting aspect of the Corcino addition is whether or not the Reds will give him a chance to start a game. Otherwise, he'll be yet another arm in the bullpen.
Thu Aug 28 201411:18Corcino optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Thursday
Corcino was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Thursday.
Called up last week to fortify the Reds' bullpen, Corcino made his big league debut Tuesday with scoreless, two-strikeout inning against the Cubs. He will head down to Louisville to make room for Thursday's starter Dylan Axelrod, but Corcino figures to return when rosters expand, if only to eat low-leverage innings over the final weeks of the season.

Corcino threw a clean inning in his major league debut Tuesday, striking out two.
After an awful 2013 season, Corcino went down a level to Double-A Pensacola and had a better albeit not great season. Working out of the bullpen will allow to go max effort, however, so the initial results could be pretty good.
Fri Aug 22 201415:55Corcino recalled from Double-A Pensacola on Friday
Corcino was recalled from Double-A Pensacola on Friday.
After Corcino struggled mightily with Triple-A Louisville in 2013 (5.86 ERA), the Reds bumped the right-hander back down to Pensacola this season and the results have been mixed. Overall, Corcino has posted a 4.13 ERA and 1.34 WHIP across 143.2 innings while almost exclusively as a starter. While he'll reportedly be available out of the bullpen immediately upon arrival to the big club, he could end up being an option to start next Tuesday, with Homer Bailey (elbow) looking highly unlikely to be ready by then.
Tue Mar 11 201420:28Daniel Corcino optioned to Triple-A
Reds optioned RHP Daniel Corcino to Triple-A Louisville.
Corcino is looking to bounce back in 2014 after a disastrous first turn at Triple-A last season. He could make his major league debut this year if he does rebound.
