RHP Tyler Thornburg and the Boston Red Sox agreed to terms on a one-year contract that avoided arbitration, the team announced Monday. Thornburg missed last season with a right shoulder impingement after the Red Sox acquired him from the Milwaukee Brewers on Dec. 6. The 29-year-old posted a 14-9 mark with a 2.87 ERA in 144 career appearances with the Brewers from 2012-16.

RHP Tyler Thornburg is out for the season because of thoracic outlet syndrome. He's expected to undergo surgery Friday. Thornburg is expected to be ready for the 2018 season. Boston acquired Thornburg in the offseason from Milwaukee. He did not pitch in 2017.

RHP Tyler Thornburg, who has yet to pitch this season after being acquired in a trade for 3B Travis Shaw, has again been shut down because of his right shoulder injury.

RHP Tyler Thornburg (right shoulder impingement) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Thursday to make room for RHP Kyle Kendrick.
