Lindsey cleared waivers Monday and was outrighted to Double-A San Antonio.
Lindsey hasn't performed up to expectations this season, batting just .178/.262/.308 in 44 game with Double-A San Antonio and .228/.343/.283 in 33 games with Triple-A El Paso. He'll likely remain with the organization, and is expected to report to San Antonio on Tuesday.

Lindsey was designated for assignment by the Padres on Tuesday.
Two 40-man roster spots were needed for Colin Rea and Bud Norris, and Lindsey and Dale Thayer were the casualties. Lindsey was a first-round pick in 2010 (37th overall) and is still just 23, but he's shown little promise at the upper levels of the minors, posting a .197/.294/.298 batting line in 77 games between Double-A and Triple-A this year.

Lindsey was re-assigned to minor league camp Monday, the Union-Tribune's Jeff Sanders reports.
Look for Lindsey to begin the year at Triple-A, and serve as organizational depth at second base. He alredy has 116 games at Triple-A under his belt, so should something happen to Jedd Gyorko, Lindsey would be ready to step in as a potential replacement, although his fantasy upside is very limited.

Lindsey was added to the Padres' 40-man roster on Thursday.
Lindsey struggled at Triple-A El Paso after being dealt to the Padres in July, hitting just .219/.270/.315 with two homers in 41 games. He should be able to see some time in the majors in 2015, but at the very least his addition to the 40-man roster ensures he's protected from the Rule 5 draft.

Lindsey, 22, is batting .239/.274/.343 with one home run and 11 RBI in 18 games for Triple-A El Paso since being dealt from the Angels in the Huston Street trade.
The Padres have holes at second and third at the big-league level, meaning Lindsey will eventually get a look for the Padres at one or both positions. He is having a down year but was considered arguably the top prospect in the Angels organization prior to the season.
