Tue Mar 2611:30J.T. Realmuto Hits Second Home Run Of Spring
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto hit his second home of the spring on Monday in a 6-3 Grapefruit League loss to the Rays. It was a long time coming, as his first homer came in his first spring game back in February. The 33-year-old is now 10-for-40 (.250) in the spring, with a double, two home runs, four RBI, six runs scored, and a stolen base. He's getting his hacks in this spring, as the 3x All-Star hasn't drawn a single walk, while he's struck out 11 times. Managers who drafted him as the second backstop off the board are counting on the power and stolen base numbers to be there this season, but with a price tag of 72 overall, it's best to grab a catcher further down the board.

Tue Feb 2715:01J.T. Realmuto To Make Spring Debut Wednesday
Philadelphia Phillies manager Rob Thomson said that both catcher J.T. Realmuto and first baseman Bryce Harper will make their Grapefruit League debuts on Wednesday against the Atlanta Braves. After coming off of a 2022 season in which the backstop won a Silver Slugger award, Realmuto had somewhat of a disappointing 2023. The 3x All-Star tallied a .252-20-63-70-16 line with a .324 WOBA and 102 wRC+. The HR, RBI, and R totals were still top-6 or better at the position, however, these numbers were all down year-over-year. Realmuto will enter the season at age 33 so we'll see how his numbers -- especially the stolen base totals -- can hold up. The former third-round pick still had a strong Barrel% of 11.2% last season so managers should still be able to count on the power being there in 2024.

Thu Sep 7 202312:57J.T. Realmuto Goes Deep In Win Over Padres
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and a strikeout in the team's 5-1 win over the San Diego Padres on Wednesday. With the two-hit performance, Realmuto extended his hitting streak to six games. Over that span, he's gone 9-for-22 (.409) with three long balls. The 32-year-old backstop has enjoyed the month of September so far, going 7-for-18 (.389) with three homers, three RBI, a stolen base and five runs scored in five starts. The three-time All-Star continues to be a must-start in single-catcher fantasy leagues, as he's hitting .257/.320/.472 with 18 home runs, 27 doubles, five triples, 54 RBI, 13 stolen bases and 62 runs scored in 471 trips to the plate and 118 games.

Wed Sep 6 202314:38J.T. Realmuto Back In Action Wednesday Afternoon
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto is back in the starting lineup Wednesday afternoon against the San Diego Padres and right-hander Michael Wacha. Realmuto got a routine breather in Tuesday's 8-0 loss at the hands of the Friars but will return behind the plate and hit sixth on Wednesday. While it's been a down season overall for the veteran due to a slow start, Realmuto has been productive when it matters most, hitting .267 with an .812 OPS, .346 wOBA, and 117 wRC+ in the season's second half. This includes a .357 average with two homers and a stolen base in just 16 plate appearances in the month of September. However, he has a tough matchup on his hands Wednesday against Wacha and his tidy 2.85 ERA across 19 starts on the season.

Tue Sep 5 202319:01J.T. Realmuto Absent On Tuesday
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto is out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the San Diego Padres. This appears to be a regular rest day for the superstar catcher. Realmuto has started in four straight games, so he could use a day off to rest. In his absence, Garrett Stubbs will start behind the plate and bat ninth versus right-hander Pedro Avila on Tuesday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups with Realmuto out for this game. Stubbs doesn't have much fantasy appeal here, so DFS players should probably look elsewhere for help for Tuesday's slate.

Sat Aug 26 202317:04J.T. Realmuto To Play On Saturday
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto is back in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The 32-year-old is back after sitting out Friday's contest. Fantasy managers don't need to worry as Realmuto only sat out for rest purposes, so he's not dealing with an injury. He'll bat seventh and serve as the catcher versus right-hander Dakota Hudson on Saturday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups with Realmuto back for this game.

Fri Aug 25 202316:27J.T. Realmuto Getting A Breather Friday
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto is getting a day off on Friday with the team taking on the visiting St. Louis Cardinals. With Realmuto starting on the bench, Garrett Stubbs will catch left-hander Cristopher Sanchez and will bat in the nine-hole against Cardinals right-hander Miles Mikolas. Stubbs is hitting just .210 (17-for-81) on the year with no homers, five RBI and nine runs scored in backup duty for the Phillies this year, so fantasy managers should be looking for better DFS options at the position on Friday. Realmuto should be back in the starting lineup on Saturday. He's been solid so far in August, going 17-for-59 (.288) with three home runs, three doubles, eight RBI and 11 runs scored in 16 games (15 starts).

Fri Aug 11 202312:06J.T. Realmuto Goes Deep In Win Over Nationals
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto went 2-for-2 with a home run, two RBI, a run scored and two walks in the team's 6-2 win over the visiting Washington Nationals on Thursday night. Realmuto is hitting just .246 (87-for-354) on the year, but he has added 14 home runs, 46 RBI, 12 stolen bases and 48 runs scored in 99 games for the Phils. While the three-time All-Star backstop's average is well below his career norm of .273, he's still producing enough power and speed to make him one of the more attractive fantasy options at his position. Since the All-Star break, he has gone 16-for-69 (.232) with four home runs, two doubles, 12 RBI, two stolen bases and 11 runs scored in 20 games (19 starts).

Sun Aug 6 202313:13J.T. Realmuto Not In The Lineup On Sunday
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto is not in the lineup on Sunday for the series finale against the Kansas City Royals. This looks to just be a scheduled day off for the veteran backstop. Garrett Stubbs is filling in behind the dish and batting eighth against Royals starter Zack Greinke. Realmuto has picked it up at the plate over the few weeks after a slow start to the season. Over the last 15 contests, he's slashing .255/.361/.412 with two home runs, nine RBI, and a pair of stolen bases.

Thu Aug 3 202311:58J.T. Realmuto Back In Thursday's Lineup
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto (hand) is back behind the plate and is hitting sixth in the batting order on Thursday against the Miami Marlins and right-hander Johnny Cueto. Realmuto suffered a right-hand laceration in Monday's game and missed the action on both Tuesday and Wednesday. Fantasy managers will want to reinsert him into their lineups now that he's available for the series finale against Miami. The three-time All-Star quietly continues to produce offensively at the weak catching position in fantasy, and he's currently slashing .243/.308/.447 with 12 home runs, 22 doubles, five triples, 42 RBI, 12 stolen bases and 44 runs scored in 93 games. His speed on the base paths is what sets him apart from most high-end fantasy backstops.

Wed Aug 2 202316:13J.T. Realmuto Remains Absent From Phillies Lineup
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto (hand) remains out of the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Miami Marlins. Garrett Stubbs is once again doing the catching and will hit eighth in the batting order against Marlins left-hander Braxton Garrett. Realmuto is dealing with a laceration on his throwing hand that he suffered in Monday's game and will miss his second straight game, but it doesn't appear to be a serious issue, so he could be back in the lineup as soon as the series finale against Miami on Thursday. The 32-year-old remains a must-start fantasy asset at the weak catching position in single-catcher leagues when he's healthy.

Tue Aug 1 202317:43J.T. Realmuto Scratched With Hand Injury
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto (hand) is being scratched from Tuesday's starting lineup against the Miami Marlins due to a right-hand laceration that he suffered during a slide recently. With Realmuto resting, Garrett Stubbs will do the catching while facing Marlins right-hander Sandy Alcantara. It sounds like Realmuto's injury isn't very serious, but he's day-to-day right now and could miss another game or two this week. The 32-year-old veteran catcher hasn't had a phenomenal year by any means, but he continues to produce for fantasy managers at a weak position. Realmuto is currently slashing .243/.308/.447 with 12 home runs, 22 doubles, five triples, 42 RBI, 12 stolen bases and 44 runs scored in 93 games.

Sun Jul 30 202312:03J.T. Realmuto Taking The Day Off Sunday
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto is taking the day off on Sunday as the team faces the Pittsburgh Pirates. Garrett Stubbs will do the catching and will bat eighth in the lineup against Pirates veteran left-hander Rich Hill. Realmuto will take a seat in the series finale after going 3-for-15 with a double and two RBI in the last four games. The 32-year-old backstop is currently hitting .242/.304/.448 with 12 home runs, 22 doubles, five triples, 42 RBI, 12 stolen bases and 44 runs scored in 92 games over 367 plate appearances. He's hit just .236 (17-for-72) in the month of July, but he does have four home runs, three doubles, 14 RBI, two stolen bases and 14 runs scored in 20 games, so fantasy managers can't really complain at the weakest position in the game.

Tue Jul 25 202314:59J.T. Realmuto Returns Tuesday Night For The Phillies
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto is back in the starting lineup for Tuesday night's contest against the Baltimore Orioles and right-hander Kyle Gibson. Realmuto didn't start Monday night's loss but did draw a pinch-hitting walk in that one. The veteran backstop has bounced back from a slow start to produce what has amounted to league-average production this season. Realmuto is hitting .244 with a .761 OPS, .323 wOBA, and a 100 wRC+ which tells us his bat has been exactly league average overall. However, fantasy managers should be satisfied with his 12 home runs and 12 stolen bases on the season, the latter of which is easily the most among big-league catchers, seven more than the Cardinals' Willson Contreras.

Thu Jul 20 202312:00J.T. Realmuto Out For Series Finale
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto will take a seat for the series finale on Thursday against the Milwaukee Brewers. Garrett Stubbs will catch right-hander Taijuan Walker and will hit ninth in the batting order against Brewers right-hander Corbin Burnes. Realmuto has only gone hitless in three games in the month of July and is batting .261 (12-for-46) with three home runs, two doubles, nine RBI, a stolen base and 10 runs scored in 12 games for the month. The 32-year-old three-time All-Star is hitting a disappointing .247 (75-for-304) by his lofty standards, but he also has 11 home runs, 21 RBI, a league-high five triples, 37 RBI, 11 stolen bases and 40 runs scored in 84 games as an elite fantasy catcher.

Sat Jul 15 202318:05J.T. Realmuto Not In Lineup For Game Two On Saturday
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto is absent from Saturday's game two lineup against lefty Ryan Weathers and the San Diego Padres. The 32-year-old has long been one of the top offensive backstops in baseball but is only batting .246 with 11 bombs, 35 RBI, 38 runs, and 10 steals over 81 games this year. Backup Garrett Stubs will do the catching instead. The 30-year-old is a career .230 hitter and is slashing just .234/.308/.298 this season across 20 games. Fantasy managers can find better bats on the waiver wire.

Thu Jul 6 202316:01J.T. Realmuto Sitting Out Against Rays
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto will take the day off on Thursday against the Tampa Bay Rays. In his place, Garrett Stubbs will do the catching and will bat in the nine-hole against Rays right-hander Shawn Armstrong. It's a normal day of rest for Realmuto, who has started each of the team's last seven games. He did have three hits in Wednesday's 8-4 win, but Realmuto is hitting just .171 (7-for-41) with a homer, five RBI, two doubles and 12 strikeouts in his last 11 games played. The three-time All-Star is hitting just .248 (68-for-274) on the year, which is well below his .273 career average, but he's still contributed nine home runs, 20 RBI, a league-high five triples, 33 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 76 games. Realmuto remains a must-start at the catcher position when he's in the lineup.

Thu Jun 15 202314:15J.T. Realmuto Sitting Out Thursday Afternoon
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto is out of the starting lineup Thursday afternoon against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Understandably, the veteran is getting an afternoon breather following a night game on Wednesday. Realmuto had been enduring an underwhelming season in 2023 but has exploded over his last three games. Over his last 14 trips to the plate, the three-time All-Star has seven hits including two doubles, two triples, two homers, two walks, seven runs, six RBI, and a stolen base to boot. Realmuto hit for his first career cycle on Monday and has stayed hot since. Garrett Stubbs will take over behind the plate and hit ninth against D-backs right-hander Ryne Nelson Thursday afternoon.

Tue Jun 13 202300:58J.T. Realmuto Hits For Cycle Monday
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto had quite a night at the plate in Monday's 9-8 loss to the Diamondbacks. Realmuto went 4-for-4 with a single, double, triple, solo home run, three RBI, and a walk. It was the third completed cycle of the season and brings the 32-year-old's slash line to .256/.304/.460 with six HR, 24 RBI, and nine stolen bases. At this point in his career, fantasy managers have come to expect consistency, and Realmuto has continued to provide it.

Mon Jun 12 202318:45J.T. Realmuto Re-Enters The Lineup Monday
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto is back in the starting lineup Monday night versus Arizona Diamondbacks left-hander Tommy Henry. The veteran backstop got the afternoon off on Sunday against the Dodgers but predictably gets right back to it Monday night in Arizona. The 32-year-old is in the midst of a down 2023 season as he's hitting just .242 with five homers and a .709 OPS across 58 appearances on the season, although he has provided fantasy managers with nine stolen bases, easily pacing all MLB catchers in the process. He will slide back into the five-hole and catcher left-hander Matt Strahm Monday night.
