Adames was removed from Sunday's game against the Dodgers in the second inning due to a neck bruise and a right index finger bruise, the Associated Press reports.
Adames suffered the pair of contusions when he collided with the Dodgers' Joc Pederson while covering third base. The Rockies had been using Adames as their regular shortstop the last few days with Jose Reyes (Achilles) recovering from an injury of his own, but if both players are unavailable for Tuesday's series opener in Arizona, Rafael Ynoa or Daniel Descalso would likely get the start at short.

Adames received the start at second base Sunday against the Giants and went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.
Adames still appears blocked for everyday playing time with DJ LeMahieu and Jose Reyes slated to fill out the Rockies' middle infield for most games, but he still may have a chance to fill a utility role ahead of Daniel Descalso as the team looks to assess some of their younger players down the stretch. Known as a glove-first player heading into 2015, Adames showed some unforeseen prowess at the plate at Triple-A Albuquerque (.311 average, 20 doubles, 11 homers in 463 at-bats) this season and has carried over that success with the Rockies, going 5-for-10.

Adames has been recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque.
With rosters expanding Tuesday, Adames will return to the big leagues for the first time in just over a month. He's enjoyed a strong season at Triple-A, slashing .311/.362/.438 with 51 RBI, 11 home runs and 11 steals in 116 contests. While Jose Reyes remains entrenched as the starting shortstop, Adames could see a handful of spot starts down the stretch with the Rockies well out of contention in the NL.

The Rockies sent Adames back to Triple-A Albuquerque prior to Wednesday's loss to the Cubs, the Associated Press reports.
With the Rockies trading away Troy Tulowitzki on Tuesday, Adames was recalled as a roster placeholder until Jose Reyes was able to arrive in Chicago to join the team. Adames has had a strong season at Triple-A, but with Reyes slated to finish out the season with the big club and Trevor Story looking like the long-term solution at shortstop, Adames may see little more than a bench role if and when he settles in the majors on a more permanent basis.
Tue Jul 28 201517:43Adames recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday
Adames was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.
He will up for his first stint with the major league club this season, replacing Wilin Rosario on the active roster. The 24-year-old, switch-hitting Adames has posted a .296/.342/.416 batting line in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League this season, but will likely serve merely as infield depth moving forward.
