Sat Jan 2012:19Rougned Odor Heads To Japan
Free-agent second baseman Rougned Odor has signed with the Yomiuri Giants of Nippon Professional Baseball on Saturday. Odor will take his talents overseas to Japan after playing 59 games in the big leagues for the San Diego Padres in 2023, where he slashed a weak .203/.299/.355 with four home runs and 18 RBI in 157 plate appearances before he was released in July. The 29-year-old left-handed slugger never made it back to the big leagues with another team to close out 2023. Odor will go to Japan hoping that a solid season overseas will get big-league teams interested in him again in 2025. Over 10 years in the majors with the Padres, Rangers, Yankees and Orioles, Odor has hit .230/.288/.422 with 178 home runs and 568 RBI in 1,154 career games.

Mon Jul 24 202314:29Rougned Odor Released By Padres
The San Diego Padres officially released infielder Rougned Odor on Monday after designating him for assignment last week. Now on the free-agent market, Odor will be able to sign with any team after hitting just .210/.306/.370 with four home runs, 10 doubles, 18 RBI, two steals and 21 runs scored in 157 trips to the plate and 59 games for the Friars this year. The 29-year-old left-handed hitter could latch on with another team on a minor-league deal, but there's no guarantee that he'll make it back to the big leagues again this year. If he does, it will most likely be as a part-time infielder in matchups against right-handed pitchers.

Tue Jul 18 202319:16Luis Campusano Activated, Rougned Odor DFA'd, Austin Nola Optioned
The San Diego Padres activated catcher Luis Campusano (thumb) from the 60-day injured list on Tuesday. In corresponding moves, the Padres designated infielder Rougned Odor for assignment and optioned catcher Austin Nola and infielder/outfielder Brandon Dixon to Triple-A El Paso. Campusano had surgery to fix a torn ligament in his left thumb on May 12, but he'll now return to split playing time at catcher and designated hitter with Gary Sanchez. The 24-year-old has hit just .198 with three homers in 35 big-league games so far, so he's not an immediate add in two-catcher formats. Odor will likely clear waivers after hitting .210 with four homers and 18 RBI in 59 games for the Friars. Nola will go down to the farm after going just 19-for-130 (.146) in 52 games in 2023 at the major-league level.

Mon Jun 5 202318:26Rougned Odor Hitting Out Of The Leadoff Spot Monday
San Diego Padres second baseman Rougned Odor (groin) is hitting out of the leadoff spot Monday night against right-hander Kyle Hendricks and the visiting Chicago Cubs. It's just the second start out of the leadoff spot this season for the veteran, who has bounced back nicely in his first season with the Friars. Odor's bat has been well below league average in each season since 2017, but his four homers, two stolen bases, 10.1% walk rate, and improved 20.2% strikeout rate have helped him to a 101 wRC+ that puts him a single hair above the league average. He dodged an injured-list stint himself and is taking the leadoff spot from Xander Bogaerts, who is out for the second straight game due to a wrist injury.

Sat Jun 3 202323:39Rougned Odor Could Avoid Trip To IL
According to AJ Cassavell of MLB.com, the Padres feel infielder Rougned Odor (groin) could avoid a trip to the injured list. The 29-year-old suffered a groin strain during Friday's game versus the Cubs and was expected to land on the IL. While there's still a chance it could happen, the team will wait at least a few days before deciding. In the meantime, Ha-Seong Kim should handle most of the work caused by Odor's absence.

Sat Jun 3 202312:25Rougned Odor Expected To Land On Injured List
San Diego Padres manager Bob Melvin said that infielder Rougned Odor (groin) is dealing with a left-groin strain and is expected to land on the injured list on Saturday. "He gives us length in the lineup, has been great for us," Melvin said. "So, if you lose him for a significant period of time, it's going to hurt." Odor suffered the injury in Friday night's 2-1 loss to the Chicago Cubs and is likely to be out for at least the next 10 days or so. With the veteran left-handed slugger hurt, expect Ha-Seong Kim to return as the starter at second base moving forward. Odor has hit just .216 (19-for-88) on the season, but he had recently begun to heat up by going 11-for-35 (.314) with four doubles, three home runs and 14 RBI in his last 10 games.

Wed Mar 1 202311:01Padres Agree To Deal With Rougned Odor
The San Diego Padres agreed to a minor-league deal with free-agent second baseman Rougned Odor on Wednesday. Odor has already reported to major-league spring training and will try to make the Padres' stacked roster for Opening Day. The 29-year-old left-handed slugger had three 30-homer seasons for the Texas Rangers in 2016, 2017 and 2019, but he had just 13 long balls while hitting .207/.275/.357 with a .632 OPS, 53 RBI, 49 runs scored and six stolen bases in 135 games for the Baltimore Orioles last year. Odor is a free swinger as well, so he's unlikely to hit for a decent batting average. If he makes the Padres roster, he'll be a left-handed power bat off the bench and nothing more.

Mon Sep 12 202213:36Rougned Odor Listed As Day-To-Day
Baltimore Orioles second baseman Rougned Odor (hand) is listed as day-to-day after he left Sunday's game early against the Boston Red Sox with a right hand contusion after being hit by a pitch. X-rays came back negative, so he could return to the starting lineup as soon as Tuesday for the series opener against the Washington Nationals after an off day on Monday. The 28-year-old left-handed hitter still has a little pop left in his bat (12 home runs), but he's slashing just .199/.269/.355 with 44 RBI, 45 runs scored and six stolen bases in 428 plate appearances over 123 games for the Orioles this year and is only an option down the stretch in deeper fantasy leagues.

Fri Jun 17 202212:56Rougned Odor Drives In Two More
Baltimore Orioles infielder Rougned Odor had a solid game at the plate Thursday, going 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI. Odor has picked up his play significantly over the course of the season, and while his .212 batting average and .272 OBP leave plenty to be desired, his seven home runs, 25 runs scored, and 29 RBI are very solid and will play in many fantasy league formats. Odor could be a cheap fill-in on the waiver wire for as long as he's batting in the middle of Baltimore's lineup.

Tue Nov 30 202120:33Rougned Odor Closing In On Major-League Deal With Orioles
Infielder Rougned Odor is set to join the Baltimore Orioles, as he is reported to be close to an agreement on a one-year major-league contract. Odor spent the first seven years of his career with the Texas Rangers before making 349 plate appearances with the New York Yankees in 2021. He's a career .234/.289/.433 hitter with 161 homers and 62 steals in 960 games. At 27 years old, it isn't out of the question that Odor could once again become a productive regular, but fantasy managers should wait and see before selecting him on draft day.

Fri Nov 19 202120:16Yankees Designate Rougned Odor For Assignment
Infielder Rougned Odor was designated for assignment by the New York Yankees on Friday. Acquired prior to the season from the Texas Rangers, the 27-year-old split time between second base, his usual position, and third base while with the Yankees. Odor hit .202 with a .286 on-base percentage in 361 plate appearances. He didn't record any stolen bases as a member of the American League East club but did connect on 15 home runs in a New York uniform.

Mon Aug 16 202102:07Rougned Odor Hits Two-Run Shot
New York Yankees second baseman Rougned Odor took Lucas Giolito deep Sunday, launching a two-run home run off the Chicago White Sox starter in the top of the second inning. Odor added another hit in his five at-bats for the game. It's his 14th home run of the year, and his second since July 25. With so many Yankees out and injured, Odor has been playing every day of late, and with his second base and third base eligibility he's worth a look in deep leagues for as long as that continues. He has a .722 OPS with 33 runs and 38 RBI in 266 at-bats this year.

Sat Aug 7 202117:25Rougned Odor Goes Yard Saturday
New York Yankees second baseman/third baseman Rougned Odor collected his 13th homer of the season in Saturday's win over the Mariners. Odor's homer was by no means a Statcast-friendly one, as he just squeaked a ball with a 31-degree launch angle over the right-field wall. It was a two-run jack for the Yankee infielder, who had gone 11 games without a long ball. Odor has been seeing a fair amount of time at third base- a new position for him- with Gio Urshela (hamstring) sidelined, a positive development for his fantasy value. Odor makes for an upside DFS play if in the lineup Sunday against lefty Yusei Kikuchi. The former Ranger has six homers and a .571 slugging percentage in 70 at-bats against lefties this season.

Thu Jul 29 202122:44Not left out: Yankees get big lefty bats with Gallo, Rizzo
NEW YORK (AP) — Desperate for a powerful, left-handed bat to park balls in the short porch at Yankee Stadium, the New York Yankees got two of them. Hours after announcing their trade to acquire All-Star slugger Joey Gallo from Texas, the playoff-chasing Yankees worked out a deal for longtime Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo on Thursday. The swaps came on a day the Yankees lost at Tampa Bay 14-0, leaving them far behind Boston in the AL East and fourth in the chase for two wild-card spots. Team officials, including owner Hal Steinbrenner and general manager Brian Cashman, have been holding meetings in nearby Tampa, Florida. “Part of the reason I’m here is because Hal always goes for it, and so does Brian,” Yankees ace Gerrit Cole said after the lopsided loss. “Continue to push chips in. I trust that they’re going to do what’s best for the organization, what’s best to win. I trust they’re going to try and make us better one way or another, and they did.” The Yankees made the moves... Thu Jul 29 202118:45Left turn: Boone says Yankees 'a lot better' with Gallo
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — The Yankees have answered questions about how they would proceed heading into Friday's trade deadline. They are big-time buyers. All-Star slugger Joey Gallo's trade to New York from the Texas Rangers was completed Thursday, giving the heavily right-handed Yankees a much-needed powerful lefty bat. New York acquired Gallo and left-hander Joely Rodriguez from the Rangers for minor league right-hander Glenn Otto and infielders Ezequiel Duran, Trevor Hauver and Josh Smith. The Yankees will receive $2,722,865 from the Rangers plus another $500,000 in January that is conditioned on Rodriguez’ 2022 option buyout being paid. With switch-hitting center fielder Aaron Hicks hurt, second baseman Rougned Odor and outfielder Brett Gardner have been the only left-handed hitters to see substantial playing time. “Sign me up for the guy that’s on base almost 40% of the time and has power and provides the kind of potential balance for our lineup,” Boone said before New York lost...
