INF Reid Brignac had his contract selected from Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday, when he made his debut with the Braves, started at second base and went 0-for-4 in a 4-1 loss to the Mets. With Opening Day 2B Jace Peterson demoted during Monday's flurry of roster moves by the Braves, Brignac could see regular time at the position for the foreseeable future for the rebuilding franchise. He earned the promotion by batting .329 with one homer and 13 RBIs in 22 games for Gwinnett. The Braves are the sixth major league team for Brignac, who was 1-for-13 for the Miami Marlins last season and is a lifetime .218 hitter in 360 games dating back to 2008.

Fri May 8 201519:27Brignac designated for assignment by Marlins on Friday
Brignac was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Friday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
Brignac was used sparingly during his three-plus weeks with the Marlins, seeing just one start and 17 plate appearances in total. He will now be subjected to waivers, and considering Brignac is 29 with a career .219/.266/.310 slash line, it seems doubtful he'll draw much interest from other clubs.
Mon Apr 13 201514:56Brignac's contract selected from Triple-A New Orleans on Monday
Brignac's contract was selected from Triple-A New Orleans on Monday, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports.
Brignac spent his 2014 campaign with the Phillies, batting .222/.300/.346 over 91 plate appearances. The Marlins are a bit short-handed in the infield, with Donovan Solano representing their only current backup, so Brignac will fill in as a reserve in the short term. He'll likely be expendable once Don Kelly (finger) returns to health.

Brignac will get called up before Monday night's game against the Braves, the Miami Herald reports.
He'll replace the injured Don Kelly, but because he's not yet on the 40-man roster the Marlins will have to make room for him.

Brignac agreed to a minor league contract with Miamia and will play for Triple-A New Orleans, the Miami Herald reports.
Brignac didn't make Miami's 25-man roster and elected to be a free agent, but didn't find a better deal and returned to the organization. He could get called up at some point if injuries strike the Miami infield.

Brignac has elected to become a free agent Tuesday after being cut by the Marlins, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.
Brignac could have began the season with Triple-A Nashville after being cut from major league camp, but he'll hope another club gives him a shot at the major league roster instead. The 29-year-old slashed just .222/.300/.346 in 37 games with the Phillies in 2014.
Tue Mar 31 201509:24Brignac will not make Opening Day roster
Brignac will not make the Opening Day roster, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
Brignac, a non-roster invitee to spring training, will open his season with Triple-A Nashville. He did have a decent spring, and he could still help the Marlins out at some point before the end of the season. It appears Donovan Solano and Jeff Baker will be the reserve infielders on the Opening Day roster.

Brignac had a big day at the dish during Monday's win over the Mets, knocking three singles and plating three runs.
Brignac got the nod at shortstop with Adeiny Hechavarria (shoulder) needing a couple days rest. The veteran infielder signed a minor league deal with the team over the winter and is currently competing for a bench spot. The Marlins have a number of backup options to evaluate in the spring with Brignac representing the best glove of the group. If the offensive production continues, Brignac will be firmly in the mix for a roster spot.
Wed Nov 19 201421:12Brignac signed minor league contract with Marlins on Wednesday
Brignac signed a minor league contract with the Marlins on Wednesday, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.
Though the report doesn't state that Brignac's deal includes an invite to big league spring training, that's probably a safe assumption after the infielder was able to collect 81 at-bats with the Phillies in 2014. The Marlins' middle infield depth isn't especially impressive, so Brignac could have a legitimate case to a utility role if he submits a strong spring training. However, as a glove-first player with a .222/.266/.314 line across seven MLB seasons, Brignac won't offer much fantasy utility if he's able to claim a big league gig.

Brignac cleared waivers Monday and was outrighted to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, Chris Cotillo of MLBDailyDish.com reports.
The 28-year-old Brignac will become a free agent after the season, which explains the Phillies' willingness to drop him from their 40-man roster. He looks to be simply organizational depth at this stage of his career.
Sat Aug 23 201416:03The Phillies designated Brignac for assignment Saturday
The Phillies designated Brignac for assignment Saturday.
Brignac saw just 15 at-bats after his reinstatement from the DL back on July 21, and he failed to capitalize on his limited opportunities, recording just one hit and striking out nine times in those trips. Freddy Galvis was recalled to replace Brignac, who figures to move on to another organization this offseason.

Thu Jun 19 201421:36Reid Brignac leaves with leg injury
Reid Brignac exited Thursday's game against the Cardinals with a left leg injury.
It was a gruesome injury, as Brignac was trying to beat Cards pitcher Shelby Miller to the first base bag and caught his leg funny while colliding with the hurler. He was able to limp off with assistance, but a trip to the disabled list seems likely.
