INF/OF Shawn O'Malley was outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday after clearing waivers. O'Malley, who has hit .234 over two seasons with the Mariners, has yet to appear with the major league club this season.

OF/INF Shawn O'Malley, who had been on the 60-day disabled list after having his appendix removed in spring training and having right shoulder surgery in May, was activated and optioned to Triple-A Tacoma. He hit .229 with nine doubles, two triples, two home runs, 17 RBIs and 24 runs in 89 games last season with Seattle. He started games at second, third, shortstop and all three outfield positions last season.

"I was running (on contact)," he said. "I saw he made a good throw home. Instead of running it out, I tried to get in a rundown, hoping something would happen. Or maybe Seth (Smith) could advance.
