Tue Mar 1211:11Jorge Polanco Having A Productive Spring For New Team
Seattle Mariners second baseman Jorge Polanco is showing his new team what he can do at the plate this spring. After bashing two home runs on Sunday, the 30-year-old failed to reach base for the first time Monday, going 0-for-3 with a strikeout in a 13-3 Cactus League loss to the Padres. Through his first eight Cactus League games, however, Polanco had reached base at least once via hit or walk in each game. After nine games now, the veteran is 7-for-17 (.412) with a double, two home runs, four runs, and eight RBI. He's collected four walks and has also been plunked once, with his OBP standing at .545 after 22 plate appearances. The 2019 All-Star has missed portions of the last two seasons due to injury so it's a welcome sight to see him healthy. He's currently projected to hit third in the Mariners order and is being drafted around pick 257 per his NFBC ADP, slightly behind his RotoBaller rank of 244.

Mon Jan 2920:06Mariners Acquire Jorge Polanco From Twins
The Seattle Mariners acquired second baseman Jorge Polanco from the Minnesota Twins on Monday, according to sources. It's unclear what the Twins are receiving in return. The Twins exercised Polanco's $10.5 million club option for the 2024 season, even after he played in just 80 regular-season games due to ankle, knee and hamstring injuries. The 30-year-old hit well when he was on the field, though, slashing .255/.335/.454 with a .789 OPS, 14 home runs, 18 doubles, 48 RBI, four stolen bases and 38 runs scored in 343 plate appearances. The move opens up regular playing time at the keystone in Minnesota for Edouard Julien. Polanco squared the ball up often and had strong exit velocities, but he's moving to another pitcher-friendly park in the American League. He should play regularly in Seattle but will be a significant health risk for fantasy managers.

Fri Dec 8 202316:37Twins Receiving Trade Interest On Jorge Polanco
The Minnesota Twins have received increased trade interest in infielder Jorge Polanco over the last week. The Twins exercised their $10.5 million option on Polanco for the 2024 season, but teams have come calling on the 30-year-old veteran this offseason. Durability issues have been Polanco's Achilles heal, as he missed a considerable chunk of time in 2023 due to ankle, knee and hamstring issues. But he was solid at the plate when he was on the field, slashing .255/.335/.454 with a .789 OPS, 14 home runs, 18 doubles, 48 RBI, four stolen bases and 38 runs scored in 343 trips to the plate over 80 total games. The switch-hitting Dominican might have a better fantasy outlook outside of Minnesota, but durability concerns aren't going to go away. If the Twins do trade Polanco, Edouard Julien would become the team's regular at the keystone in 2024.

Thu Nov 2 202319:20Max Kepler, Jorge Polanco Have Club Options Exercised By Twins
Minnesota Twins outfielder Max Kepler and second baseman Jorge Polanco both had their 2024 club options exercised by the club on Thursday. The decisions were widely expected after Kepler and Polanco both enjoyed quality campaigns at the plate in 2023. Kepler, who will earn $10 million next season, posted a career-high batting average of .260 while slugging 24 home runs alongside an .816 OPS across 130 games this season. He is scheduled to hit free agency following the 2024 season. Polanco, who will take home $10.5 million in 2024, dealt with a knee injury again this season but managed to hit .255 with 14 home runs, four stolen bases, and a .789 OPS across 343 plate appearances. The Twins hold an additional club option on the 30-year-old for the 2025 campaign. Both players will aim to contribute to a second consecutive AL Central crown in the 2024 campaign.

Sat Sep 30 202300:47Jorge Polanco Day-To-Day With Sore Ankle
Minnesota Twins infielder Jorge Polanco (ankle) departed Friday's game against the Colorado Rockies with right ankle soreness. He went 1-for-3 before Alex Kirilloff subbed in for him during the sixth inning. Polanco is being deemed day-to-day with his next chance to return arriving during Saturday's meeting at Coors Field. The Twins have dealt with enough injuries to key contributors this year, like Byron Buxton (knee) and Royce Lewis (hamstring), so it's fair to wonder if the AL Central champions elect to hold out Polanco until the playoffs. The former All-Star has been very productive when healthy, slashing .255/.335/.454 with 14 home runs, 48 RBI, and four stolen bases in 302 at-bats (80 games).

Thu Sep 28 202312:00Jorge Polanco Not Playing Thursday
Minnesota Twins second baseman Jorge Polanco is getting the day off on Thursday against the visiting Oakland Athletics. With Polanco starting on the bench, Donovan Solano will man the keystone and will hit third in the order against A's right-hander Luis Medina. Willi Castro is starting at third base and is hitting in the two-hole for the Twins. Due to injuries, Polanco has played in only 78 games for Minnesota this year, and he's hitting .258/.339/.461 with an .800 OPS, 14 home runs, 18 doubles, 48 RBI, four stolen bases and 38 runs scored in 336 trips to the plate. The 30-year-old Dominican switch-hitter has gone 18-for-71 (.254) with four home runs, four doubles, 12 RBI, a stolen base and 14 runs scored in his 18 starts in September.

Wed Sep 13 202312:15Jorge Polanco Back From Bereavement List
Minnesota Twins second baseman Jorge Polanco was activated from the bereavement list on Wednesday and is back in the starting lineup to take on the visiting Tampa Bay Rays and right-hander Taj Bradley. The Twins sent infielder Gilberto Celestino back to Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move. Polanco will return to the lineup after missing the last three games. The switch-hitting 30-year-old Dominican has played in only 68 games this year due to injuries and is hitting .260 (66-for-254) with 12 home runs, 15 doubles, 41 RBI, four stolen bases and 31 runs scored in 290 plate appearances. So far in the month of September, he's gone 8-for-30 (.267) with two home runs, a double, five RBI, a stolen base and seven runs scored in eight starts.

Wed Aug 23 202312:12Jorge Polanco Resting Against Brew Crew
Minnesota Twins infielder Jorge Polanco will take a day off on Wednesday against the Milwaukee Brewers. Royce Lewis is manning third base and is batting cleanup, while Edouard Julien is serving as the designated hitter and batting leadoff against Brewers right-hander Corbin Burnes. Polanco is getting a day of rest after starting the last 13 games. In the month of August, Polanco is hitting .246 (16-for-65) with three home runs, two doubles, 10 RBI, two stolen bases and eight runs scored in 19 games (18 starts). The 30-year-old Dominican has an intriguing power/speed profile, but he's missed more time with injuries in 2023 and has played in just 52 games for the Twins.

Fri Jul 28 202317:29Jorge Polanco Activated From Injured List
The Minnesota Twins activated infielder Jorge Polanco (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list on Friday and optioned right-hander Cole Sands to Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move. Polanco is right back in the starting lineup on Friday against Kansas City Royals right-hander Brady Singer, playing third base and batting fifth for the Twins. The 30-year-old switch-hitter looked good during his minor-league rehab assignment and should be a lineup regular for Minnesota now that he's back. Because of his power/speed combination, Polanco is attractive in mixed fantasy leagues, although he's had a tough time staying healthy. In just 120 at-bats in 2023, he's hitting .250/.291/.450 with five homers, 16 RBI and 11 runs scored.

Wed Jul 26 202319:57Jorge Polanco Expected To Return This Weekend
Minnesota Twins second baseman Jorge Polanco (hamstring) will play in a minor-league rehab game on Wednesday for Triple-A St. Paul and then fly to Kansas City with the Twins to be activated from the 10-day injured list on the road trip. Polanco should be back in Minnesota's starting lineup on Friday for the series opener against the Royals, so fantasy managers should look to potentially scoop him up off the waiver wire if he's available in your league. The 30-year-old should see plenty of playing time at third base for the Twins against right-handed pitchers when he's back, and his power/speed combination shouldn't go overlooked. The Dominican switch-hitter was batting .250 (30-for-120) with five homers, nine doubles, 16 RBI and 11 runs scored in 30 games before his injury.

Sat Jul 22 202310:45Jorge Polanco To Play More Third Base During Rehab
Minnesota Twins infielder Jorge Polanco (hamstring) is expected to get some action at third base during his rehab assignment at Triple-A St. Paul. Manager Rocco Baldelli has indicated that Polanco would see additional time at the hot corner rather than second base amidst his rehab time. With current second baseman Edouard Julien slashing a mighty .318/.399/.565 in 179 plate appearances this year, it makes sense for the Twins to seek ways to preserve the rookie's bat in the lineup. Polanco has been on the mend since June 8 with a left hamstring strain, but he's staring at possible late-July return. It's been a long season for the 30-year-old, who also missed the outset of the campaign bothered by left knee inflammation. Fantasy managers should consider stashing the switch-hitting Polanco if they need help at the keystone or potentially even third base with eligibility seeming to come at some point.

Mon Jul 17 202300:59Jorge Polanco Starts Rehab Assignment Sunday
Minnesota Twins second baseman Jorge Polanco (hamstring) started a rehab assignment on Sunday with Triple-A Saint Paul, going 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, and a strikeout. Polanco has been out of action since June 8 with a hamstring injury that has hampered him for most of the season. When he's been healthy, Polanco has been decent, slashing .250/.291/.450 over 120 at-bats. The 30-year-old isn't a must-roster player anymore, but he can help out a fantasy team in need of a second baseman or middle infielder, especially in deeper leagues.

Sun Jul 9 202316:00Jorge Polanco Almost Ready For Rehab Assignment
According to Twins president of baseball operations Derek Falvey, second baseman Jorge Polanco (hamstring) is nearly ready for a rehab assignment. While there isn't a definitive date set, Falvey believes Polanco may head out "around next weekend." The veteran, who has battled nagging hamstring injuries this season, recently began baseball activities. However, although things appear to be trending favorably, fantasy managers will have a tough time believing Polanco will remain healthy, considering his injury-plagued past.

Mon Jun 26 202319:43Jorge Polanco Begins Baseball Activities
Minnesota Twins second baseman Jorge Polanco (hamstring) has started doing baseball activities, according to head trainer Nick Paparesta. Polanco is hitting in the batting cage and is taking ground balls while also being in the midst of a running progression. It's the second left-hamstring strain that the 29-year-old has dealt with this year, and the Twins consider it a moderate strain, so he certainly won't be rushed back from the injured list. He is trending in the right direction, but there's no timetable for him to begin a minor-league rehab assignment, and fantasy managers shouldn't expect him back until after the All-Star break. Polanco has played in only 30 games this year, but he does have nine doubles and five home runs.

Sat Jun 10 202312:23Jorge Polanco Lands On Injured List Again
The Minnesota Twins placed second baseman Jorge Polanco (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list on Saturday with a left-hamstring strain. Polanco tweaked his hamstring on Thursday and will head back to the injured list after recently returning from it for the same injury. It's a disappointing development for the 29-year-old middle infielder, but fantasy managers in mixed leagues should keep him stashed and hope for a quick return. The 29-year-old switch-hitting Dominican has played in only 30 games so far this year, hitting .250 (30-for-120) with nine doubles, five home runs, 16 RBI and 11 runs scored. Infield prospect Edouard Julien was called up and is starting at second base and batting leadoff on Saturday against the Blue Jays and right-hander Trevor Richards. Julien should at least see playing time at the keystone against righties with Polanco out.

Fri Jun 9 202320:15Jorge Polanco Going For MRI
Minnesota Twins second baseman Jorge Polanco (hamstring) is going for an MRI exam on his left hamstring on Friday in Toronto, according to manager Rocco Baldelli. "I think that'll tell us more hard information than us just kind of testing him, speculating. We don't want to run him or get him moving until we know what we're dealing with. But it hasn't gone away," Baldelli said. The 29-year-old tweaked his hamstring on Thursday against the Tampa Bay Rays and wasn't in the lineup for the series opener on Friday against the Blue Jays. It's also the same hamstring that recently sent Polanco to the injured list, so fantasy managers need to be prepared for more missed time. Polanco has legitimate power for a middle infielder, but he's played in only 30 games so far in 2023 due to injury. Kyle Farmer got the start at the keystone for the Twins on Friday.

Fri Jun 9 202315:00Jorge Polanco Absent For Friday's Game
Minnesota Twins second baseman Jorge Polanco (hamstring) is absent from the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. As expected, Polanco won't play here after being removed early during Thursday's game due to left hamstring tightness. The hope is that the 29-year-old will just need a few days of rest and can avoid a trip to the injured list. In the meantime, Kyle Farmer will cover second base and bat fifth versus lefty Yusei Kikuchi on Friday.

Thu Jun 8 202322:48Jorge Polanco Day-To-Day With Hamstring Injury
Minnesota Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said that second baseman Jorge Polanco (hamstring) is being considered day-to-day after leaving Thursday's game early against the Tampa Bay Rays with a left hamstring injury. "He's still, I think, pretty strong in the muscle, but he definitely felt something. We're going to have to pay attention to it," Baldelli said. It's good news, especially since Polanco recently returned from an injured-list stint for an injury to the same hamstring. The 29-year-old should be able to avoid another trip to the IL, but fantasy managers shouldn't expect him to play on Friday in the first game of a weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays. Polanco has played in only 30 games this year because of injury and is hitting .250 (30-for-120) with nine doubles, five home runs and 16 RBI in 126 plate appearances.

Thu Jun 8 202316:00Jorge Polanco Pulled Early With Hamstring Tightness
Minnesota Twins second baseman Jorge Polanco (hamstring) was forced from Thursday's game early against the Tampa Bay Rays with left-hamstring tightness. Polanco injured his hamstring running the bases in the first inning after going 0-for-1. It's the same hamstring that caused him to land on the injured list recently, too, so there's a chance that he'll need to go right back on the IL. That would be a pretty disappointing blow for both the Twins and fantasy managers. The 29-year-old Dominican switch-hitter has only played in 30 games so far this year due to injuries, and he entered Thursday's contest hitting .252 (30-for-119) with nine doubles, five home runs, 16 RBI and 11 runs scored. Check back for updates on the severity of Polanco's hamstring injury.

Thu Jun 1 202318:27Jorge Polanco Hitting Leadoff In Return To Lineup
Minnesota Twins second baseman Jorge Polanco is hitting leadoff for the team for the first time this year on Thursday against right-hander Tanner Bibee and the Cleveland Guardians. Polanco returns for the Twins and fantasy managers after spending roughly two weeks due to a left-hamstring strain. The 29-year-old should hit at the top of the lineup or in the heart of the order on a regular basis as the starting second baseman, and he needs to be rostered in all fantasy leagues. Before his injury, Polanco was hitting .284 (27-for-95) with seven doubles, four home runs, 14 RBI, a stolen base and 10 runs scored in 101 trips to the plate and 23 games. Get him back into your starting lineups in single-year leagues.
