Tue Feb 1309:36Jorge Soler Inks Three-Year Deal With Giants
Free-agent outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler has signed a three-year, $42 million contract with the San Francisco Giants. It has been reported recently that Soler was in search of a three-year pact on the open market and he indeed gets it in the Bay Area. The 31-year-old is coming off a big season with the Marlins in which he swatted 36 home runs alongside an 11.4% BB% and an .853 OPS across 137 games. The veteran played just 241 2/3 innings in the outfield, however, as he's likely slated for everyday reps at DH with the Giants in 2024. Nonetheless, he should remain outfield-eligible in fantasy baseball, and considering ATC is projecting 30 more home runs and 76 RBI from the slugger in 2024, his 153.10 ADP is certainly warranted.

Mon Feb 1214:24Jorge Soler Seeking Three-Year Deal In Free Agency
Free-agent outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler is still seeking a three-year deal in free agency. One of the top remaining bats left on the open market, Soler's potential suitors have diminished as the Blue Jays, D-backs, and Mariners have already acquired primary DH bats this offseason in Justin Turner, Joc Pederson, and Mitch Haniger, respectively. The 31-year-old is coming off a big season with the Marlins in 2023 as he hit .250 with 36 home runs and an .853 OPS across 137 games played. The 2019 AL home run champ (48) opted out of the final year of his contract with Miami and was ultimately not tendered a qualifying offer, therefore he is not attached to draft pick compensation on the open market.

Mon Feb 514:43Giants In Talks With Jorge Soler
The San Francisco Giants are in talks with free-agent outfielder Jorge Soler. The Cuban slugger is coming off a big season with the Marlins in 2023, hitting .250 with 36 home runs and an .853 OPS across 137 games. As a result, Soler opted out of the final season of his contract and became a free agent in early November. The 31-year-old led the American League with 48 home runs in the 2019 season, the only such season in which he surpassed his 36 long balls from the 2023 campaign. The Giants added international free agent outfielder Jung Hoo Lee this winter but Soler is likely being eyed as the club's primary designated hitter as infielder Wilmer Flores is currently projected to see the most reps at DH in 2024. Soler's big-time power makes him a solid fantasy asset on an annual basis.

Thu Feb 112:07Mets, Others Waiting For Price To Drop On J.D. Martinez, Jorge Soler
It seems as though the New York Mets and other teams are waiting for the price tag to drop on free-agent designated hitter J.D. Martinez and outfielder/DH Jorge Soler this offseason. Soler can play some outfield, but he's not the greatest of defenders, so interested teams are most likely looking at both Soler and Martinez as full-time DH options for a discounted price. MLB teams don't really want to pay for DH-only types anymore, but both Martinez and Soler proved last year that they can be impact bats. Martinez, 36, bounced back with the Dodgers to hit .271 with 33 home runs and 103 RBI in 432 at-bats, while Soler made his first All-Star team with the Marlins by hitting .250 with 36 long balls and 75 RBI in 137 games played.

Fri Jan 2619:31Blue Jays' Interest In Jorge Soler Is Real
The Toronto Blue Jays have serious interest in free-agent outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler. He became a free agent this offseason after opting out of the final year of his three-year contract with the Miami Marlins. The 31-year-old right-handed slugger clubbed 36 home runs with an .853 OPS in 580 plate appearances in 2023 and is one of the best remaining power bats on the open market with spring training just several weeks away. Soler dealt with injuries earlier in his career, but if he signs with the Blue Jays and manages to stay healthy, a 40-homer season isn't out of the real of possibilities. Moving to Toronto would also be a huge upgrade in lineups over Miami, giving Soler plenty of RBI and run-scoring opportunities.

Tue Jan 914:22Jorge Soler Hasn't Had Any Dialogue With Marlins
Free-agent outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler said he has not been in contact with the Miami Marlins this offseason. "There has been no contact with the Marlins," Soler said. Soler opted out of the final year of his deal with Miami, making it unlikely that he'll return to South Beach in 2024 and beyond. The 31-year-old right-handed slugger managed to hit 36 home runs with an .853 OPS over 580 plate appearances in his second season with the Fish in 2023 and has a handful of teams interested in his services as a corner outfielder/designated hitter. Among the teams interested in him include the Boston Red Sox, Seattle Mariners, Arizona Diamondbacks and Toronto Blue Jays. Soler is an elite target for power in fantasy drafts as long as he can stay healthy, and a move to a more hitter-friendly ballpark in 2024 could make him even more attractive.

Fri Jan 519:32Jorge Soler Drawing Interest From Handful Of Teams
Free-agent outfielder Jorge Soler is drawing interest from the Seattle Mariners, Arizona Diamondbacks, Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox, according to sources. He had some trouble staying healthy early in his career, playing more than 100 games just once from 2015-18. But since 2019, he's played at least 137 games in three of four full seasons and has averaged more than 30 home runs a season in that span, excluding 2020. Soler hit 36 long balls for the Miami Marlins in 2023 and led the American League in bombs with 48 in 2019. The 31-year-old is the best pure power bat on the open market this winter and he's also had a double-digit walk rate in each of his last eight seasons. The veteran right-handed slugger is more appealing to teams looking to sign a power bat for multiple years.

Wed Nov 8 202314:32Blue Jays Expressing Interest in Jorge Soler
Free-agent outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler is receiving interest from the Toronto Blue Jays on the open market. The club is looking to add a power bat alongside Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and Soler certainly fits that bill. The veteran clubbed 36 home runs in the 2023 season while posting an .853 OPS before opting out of the final season of his three-year deal with the Miami Marlins. The Blue Jays issued a qualifying offer to free-agent Matt Chapman but decided against issuing one to outfielder Kevin Kiermaier and utility man Whit Merrifield, who are both now officially free agents. Adding Soler would bolster an outfield that is currently without a proven left fielder due to Daulton Varsho's likelihood of moving to center field in Kiermaier's stead.

Tue Nov 7 202316:33Marlins Don't Give Jorge Soler A Qualifying Offer
The Miami Marlins chose not to extend a $20.325 million qualifying offer to outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler. The 31-year-old right-handed slugger opted out of the final year of his contract in 2024 for a chance to hit the open market this offseason. Soler will be even more attractive on the free-agent market this winter without draft-compensation tied to him. After hitting .250 (126-for-504) with 36 home runs, 24 doubles, 75 RBI and 77 runs scored in 137 games in his second year in Miami, Soler should be able to get considerably more than the $9 million he was scheduled to make in 2024 with the Fish on the final year of his three-year contract. Soler has the reputation of being a streaky hitter, but you can't deny his elite power when he's on.

Thu Nov 2 202320:56Jorge Soler To Opt Out Of Final Year Of His Deal
The Miami Marlins have been informed that outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler will exercise his opt-out clause on the final year of his three-year deal with the team, according to sources. It makes sense after Soler clubbed 36 home runs as a first-time All-Star in his second year in Miami in 2023. The 31-year-old right-handed slugger was set to make just $9 million in the final year of his deal in 2024, but he will instead hit the open market this offseason with a chance to make much more on a new deal after his big season at the plate. Soler hit .250 (126-for-504) with 75 RBI along with his 36 home runs. He also has a 48-homer season to his name in 2019, but he was injured in 2022 and finished with only 13 long balls in 72 games.

Wed Sep 6 202316:00Jorge Soler Goes On 10-Day Injured List
The Miami Marlins placed outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler (oblique) on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with a right-oblique strain and recalled outfielder Dane Myers from the minors in a corresponding move. The Fish also recalled right-hander Edward Cabrera and selected the contract of Devin Smeltzer and designated pitcher Geoff Hartlieb for assignment. Soler returned on Tuesday after a five-game absence due to hip tightness and will now miss even more time. Coupled with pitcher Sandy Alcantara going on the IL on Wednesday with an arm issue, this could be a death blow as the Marlins go for the final wild-card spot in the National League. It will be hard for Miami to replace Soler's 35 home runs and 71 RBI in the middle of their lineup.

Wed Sep 6 202314:51Jorge Soler Returning To The Bench Wednesday
Miami Marlins outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler is not in the club's starting lineup Wednesday versus the Los Angeles Dodgers and right-hander Lance Lynn. Soler returned from a hip injury on Tuesday night and went 0-for-2 with a pair of walks and a run scored but will predictably get a day off to rest after a one-week absence from game action. It's been a big season for the veteran, his second with the Marlins, as Soler is hitting .240 with 35 home runs, 71 runs, 71 RBI, and an .842 OPS across 126 appearances on the campaign. He also slugged 10 HR across 23 games in the month of August before injuring his hip on a swing in an Aug. 29 contest against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Tue Sep 5 202316:00Jorge Soler Returns On Tuesday
Miami Marlins outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler (hip) is back in action on Tuesday against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers and left-hander Clayton Kershaw, serving as the designated hitter and batting in the two-hole. Soler was removed from a game last week due to right-hip tightness, but he'll be back on the field on Tuesday and should be returned to all starting fantasy lineups because of his power. The big right-handed Cuban slugger made the All-Star team for the first time in his career in 2023 and currently has 35 home runs and 71 RBI in 125 games. He's hitting .167 in six career at-bats with one RBI against Kershaw, but he's batting .282 (29-for-103) with 14 of his 35 home runs in 121 plate appearances against lefties in 2023.

Sun Sep 3 202312:05Jorge Soler Still Absent From Starting Lineup
Miami Marlins outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler (hip) remains out of action on Sunday against the Washington Nationals. Jake Burger will serve as the designated hitter again and hit third, with Jesus Sanchez in right field and batting sixth against Nationals right-hander Josiah Gray. This will be Soler's fifth straight game on the bench, and if he doesn't improve soon, there's a chance he'll be placed on the injured list. With not much time left in the regular season, that would be a pretty big blow to the Marlins and fantasy managers that have been counting on the 31-year-old's elite power. Miami has an off day coming on Monday, so hopefully Soler will be feeling better on Tuesday for the start of a series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. If he's not ready by then, he'll likely need an IL stint.

Fri Sep 1 202316:52Jorge Soler Still Hurting
Miami Marlins outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler (hip) remains out of action on Friday as the team takes on the Washington Nationals. Jake Burger is serving as the designated hitter and batting third, while Jesus Sanchez is in right field and hitting sixth against Nationals right-hander Jake Irvin. Soler was pulled from Tuesday's game early due to right-hip tightness after a swing and a miss, and he'll remain day-to-day heading into the weekend. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Saturday to see if he's back in there. When active, the 31-year-old right-hander has been a must-start in fantasy lineups for his elite power stroke. The Marlins said he could have been available to pinch hit on Thursday, so he must be getting close to a return.

Thu Aug 31 202318:41Jorge Soler Might Be Available To Pinch-Hit Thursday
Miami Marlins designated hitter/outfielder Jorge Soler (hip) could be available to pinch-hit off the bench on Thursday versus the Washington Nationals. The 31-year-old was initially in Thursday's lineup after appearing to overcome right hip tightness, but got scratched with Miami electing to err on the side of caution with their big bat. It's promising to hear Soler could be available in this one if needed, so fantasy managers should be optimistic about his potential lineup return on Friday. The slugger is tied for sixth place in MLB with 35 home runs this season.

Thu Aug 31 202316:32Jorge Soler Scratched From Thursday's Lineup
Miami Marlins outfielder Jorge Soler (hip) has been scratched from Thursday's lineup against the Washington Nationals with right-hip tightness that is still bothering him. Josh Bell will now serve as the designated hitter for the Fish and hit second against Nationals right-hander Joan Adon. Soler will miss his third straight game due to hip tightness, but it sounds like he's getting close to returning to the lineup. The 31-year-old right-handed slugger has been a must-start in fantasy lineups this year because of his elite power stroke. With Bell at DH, Jake Burger is playing first base and Garrett Hampson enters the lineup at the hot corner.

Thu Aug 31 202316:06Jorge Soler Returns To Thursday's Lineup
Miami Marlins outfielder Jorge Soler (hip) is back in the starting lineup on Thursday against the Washington Nationals and right-hander Joan Adon, serving as the designated hitter and batting second for the Fish. Soler was removed from the game early several days ago due to hip tightness after a swing and miss, but he's back in there now and should be returned to starting fantasy lineups. The 31-year-old Cuban slugger is having a phenomenal year in his second year in Miami in 2023, slashing .241/.328/.515 with an .843 OPS, 35 home runs (second-most of his career), 22 doubles, 71 RBI and 70 runs scored in 125 games. He's clubbed 10 home runs and driven in 15 in 23 starts in the month of August.

Wed Aug 30 202314:45Jorge Soler Sitting Out Wednesday
Miami Marlins outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler (hip) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday versus the Tampa Bay Rays and right-hander Zach Eflin. The 31-year-old exited Tuesday night's contest after injuring his hip on a seventh-inning swing and will unsurprisingly get at least one night off to rest his ailment. Soler's absence is key, however, as has not only been an important bat for the Fish over the course of the season but he's been red-hot of late. The veteran is hitting .248 with 11 home runs, 16 runs, 17 RBI, and a .913 OPS across 26 games since July 28. For the season, Soler has connected for 35 HR alongside an .843 OPS across 528 trips to the plate. Jesus Sanchez will take over in right field while Josh Bell handles DH duties Wednesday in Miami.

Tue Aug 29 202322:56Jorge Soler Leaves Early With Hip Tightness
Miami Marlins outfielder Jorge Soler (hip) left Tuesday's contest against the Tampa Bay Rays early with right-hip tightness, according to the team. The injury occurred when Soler swung and missed at a pitch in the seventh inning. Until we know more on the severity of his hip injury, fantasy managers should consider the 31-year-old right-handed slugger to be day-to-day. Before leaving the eventual 11-2 blowout loss, Soler went 1-for-3 with a strikeout and was replaced in right field by Jesus Sanchez. Don't be surprised if the Fish hold him out of Wednesday's contest, even if the injury doesn't end up being all that serious. An All-Star for the first time in his career in 2023, Soler has provided plenty of power for fantasy managers, clubbing 35 long balls and 22 doubles while driving in 71 in 125 games this year.
