Tue Feb 1314:56Jose Suarez, Jose Cisnero Delayed At Spring Training
Los Angeles Angels pitchers Jose Suarez and Jose Cisnero are both being delayed to spring training, Suarez due to a family matter and Cisnero due to a visa issue. Suarez, a 26-year-old left-hander, had a disastrous year in 2023 in his fifth year in Anaheim, posting an 8.29 ERA and 1.96 WHIP with 20 walks and 28 strikeouts in just 33 2/3 innings over 11 appearances over seven starts. Cisnero, a 34-year-old right-hander, had a 5.31 ERA and 1.48 WHIP with two saves, 25 walks and a career-high 70 strikeouts in 59 1/3 relief innings in his fifth year with the Detroit Tigers last year. The Angels signed the Dominican reliever to a one-year, $1.75 million contract this month to give them more bullpen depth in 2024.

Sun Feb 412:12Jose Cisnero Signs One-Year Deal With The Angels
Free-agent relief pitcher Jose Cisnero signed a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Angels. The veteran reliever put up a poor 5.31 ERA, 1.483 WHIP, and 70:25 K/BB over 59 1/3 innings last season as a member of the Detroit Tigers. While the ERA and WHIP leave a lot to be desired, he still put up solid strikeout numbers. He should work in middle relief for the Angels this season and could have some deep fantasy value in leagues that count holds.

Fri Mar 3 202311:52Jose Cisnero Day-To-Day With Illness
Detroit Tigers relief pitcher Jose Cisnero (illness) is being listed as day-to-day in camp with a non-COVID illness. Cisnero also dealt with a neck injury earlier in spring training, so he's only made one Grapefruit League appearance to this point. The 33-year-old should be ready to go again in a day or two. He put up a career-best 1.08 ERA (3.67 FIP), 1.36 WHIP and 23 strikeouts in 25 relief innings over 28 appearances out of the bullpen for the Tigers in 2022 in his fourth year with the team. Cisnero only really has fantasy appeal in deep holds leagues in a setup role for the Tigers alongside Jason Foley in front of expected closer Alex Lange.

Fri Jan 13 202320:37Jose Cisnero Gets $2.287 Million From Tigers
The Detroit Tigers and relief pitcher Jose Cisnero agreed to a one-year, $2.287 million deal on Friday to avoid salary arbitration. Cisnero had an excellent 1.08 ERA (3.67 FIP), 1.36 WHIP, 19 walks and 23 strikeouts for the Tigers in 2022, but he only threw 25 relief innings due to an injury and personal issues. The 33-year-old right-hander will not be so fortunate next year if he is unable to limit his number of walks. Cisnero will only be attractive in 2023 deep holds leagues as a setup man in front of expected closer Alex Lange.

Wed Apr 6 202214:04Jose Cisnero Goes On 60-Day Injured List
Detroit Tigers relief pitcher Jose Cisnero(shoulder) was placed on the 60-day injured list on Wednesday due to a right shoulder sprain. Pitchers Will Vest, Drew Hutchison, Jacob Barnes and Elvin Rodriguez have all made the Opening Day bullpen. Infielder Willi Castro will start the year at Triple-A. The injury troubles continue for Cisnero, whose 2021 season ended early when he injured his elbow falling down the stairs. The 32-year-old will miss the first couple of months this year. The Tigers will also be missing veteran Andrew Chafin to open the season, so the Tigers will have to step up in the late innings in order to get the ball to closer Gregory Soto. Cisnero had a 3.65 ERA, a 1.33 WHIP, four saves and 62 K's in 61 2/3 relief outings in 2021.

Wed Sep 29 202108:34Jose Cisnero Shut Down For The Rest Of The Year
Detroit Tigers relief pitcher Jose Cisnero (elbow) will not pitch again in 2021, according to Tigers manager A.J. Hinch. Cisnero landed on the injured list on September 14 after suffering a right elbow laceration. The injury occurred after he slipped on the stairs at his house. He has been with the Tigers lately and has been playing catch on the side, but the team didn't think there was a reason to bring him back for a final bullpen stint or two. The 32-year-old right-hander had a decent year out of the pen. Over 67 games, he posted a 3.65 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP. He tallied 18 holds and four saves, but he also blew five save opportunities.
