Olmos, 25, went 1-0, 4.50 over 14 innings in six games (two starts) with Seattle in 2015. He spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Tacoma, going 1-1 with a 3.55 ERA in 20 games. Olmos was acquired by Seattle from the Miami via a waiver claim on Nov. 20, 2014. The club now has 10 days to trade, release or outright Olmos to the minors.

Olmos was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday.

After an ugly start against the A's on Friday in which he allowed five runs (four earned) in 1.1 innings, Olmos was optioned in favor of Danny Farquhar, who was recalled in a subsequent move on Monday. The 25-year-old appeared in six games during his brief time with the major league club and started two of those games, without much success. That being said, he could find his way back with the Mariners soon.

Olmos will start Friday's series-opener against the A's, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

Hisashi Iwakuma was initially slated to take the hill Friday, but the Mariners have opted to shuffle the rotation. It will be Olmos on Friday, followed by Felix Hernandez on Saturday, with Iwakuma being pushed back to Sunday. In his last start Sunday against the White Sox, Olmos allowed five hits, three earned runs and five walks over 5.0 innings.

Olmos will start Sunday's game against the White Sox, Jen Mueller of ROOT Sports reports.

It sounds like the Mariners want to skip Mike Montgomery, and manager Lloyd McClendon said he liked how Olmos looked in long relief Tuesday. He only started two games at Triple-A Tacoma this year and prior to that he had not started a game since 2012. In four appearances out of the bullpen with Seattle he has not allowed a run but has only recorded two strikeouts. It seems unlikely that he would go much deeper than five innings, considering he has been working primarily as a reliever this year.

Olmos was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on Monday, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.

Olmos has been pitching well in Triple-A, holding a 3.55 ERA with a 1.36 WHIP in 33.0 innings and a 34:13 K:BB ratio. He replaces Rob Rasmussen in the bullpen for the Mariners.

The 25-year-old lefty never embarked on a rehab assignment, but evidently he's good to go with Tacoma after missing the start of the year with a shoulder impingement. A third-round pick by the Marlins in 2008, Olmos posted a 3.86 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 44:17 K:BB in 33 appearances (51.1 innings) at the Triple-A level last season.

Olmos said he expected to be ready for Opening Day after resuming a throwing program a little over two weeks ago, but apparently he has not progressed as expected. He was shut down early in camp with a shoulder impingement. The DL stint will be backdated to Mar. 30, but it's uncertain whether Olmos will be ready to return when first eligible.

Olmos has left shoulder inflammation and will undergo a throwing program, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.

Olmos' health woes were enough to send him back to the Mariners, so it's curious that Seattle seems to be going full steam ahead with his rehab in light of this development. Shoulder injuries can obviously hurt a player's stuff as much as much as anything, so it's hard to see Olmos anywhere close to breaking camp with the big league club.

Olmos was added back onto the Mariners' 40-man roster Thursday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

The 24-year-old was designated for assignment by Seattle late last month and was subsequently claimed by Texas, but the Rangers' claim was reversed by MLB due to concerns over the health of Olmos' shoulder. He is now back on the M's 40-man, with Ji-Man Choi (leg) DFA'd to make room, but Olmos is no lock to open the season on schedule given the time lost to the shoulder issue.

Olmos was claimed off waivers by the Rangers from the Mariners on Feb. 24, but his shoulder left shoulder impingement will result in him being sent back to the Mariners. The 24-year-old pitched has one stint in the majors, which came in 2013 with the Marlins. It seems unlikely that he will get a roster spot after being designated for assignment last week, and nothing has changed on that front with the most recent news.

Olmos has been sidelined with a sore shoulder, Anthony Andro of Fox Sports Southwest reports.

This is another chip away at the Rangers' left-handed bullpen depth, with Michael Kirkman still in recovery from a shoulder impingement. Neither player is a blip on the fantasy radar, but them going down could possibly force Ross Detwiler, a strong rotation candidate for Texas, into the bullpen, as Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram speculates.

The Rangers freed up a 40-man spot by placing Jurickson Profar (shoulder) on the 60-day disabled list. Olmos will likely begin 2015 at the Triple-A level, but he may have a shot in spring training to earn a spot at the back of the Texas bullpen.

The move was made to clear space on the 25-man roster for Brad Penny, who will join the Marlins to start Saturday's game.
