Wed Aug 2 202319:46Corey Dickerson Released, Luis Garcia Sent To Triple-A
The Washington Nationals requested unconditional release waivers on outfielder Corey Dickerson on Wednesday and also optioned infielder Luis Garcia to Triple-A Rochester. Dickerson entered the day hitting .252/.285/.357 with two home runs, 17 RBI and 11 runs scored in 143 at-bats as a platoon guy in left field for the Nats. The 34-year-old could get picked up as a bench bat by a contender now that he's on the open market. And with Dickerson now out of the picture in D.C., it could mean regular playing time for Stone Garrett. Garcia has been ice-cold at the plate since the All-Star break and is batting .260 (98-for-377) with six homers, 42 RBI, eight steals and 46 runs scored in 99 games. Expect Ildemaro Vargas and Michael Chavis to split playing time at the keystone moving forward.

Tue May 16 202315:12Corey Dickerson Sitting Against Southpaw
Washington Nationals outfielder Corey Dickerson is not in the starting lineup on Tuesday against left-hander Jesus Luzardo and the Miami Marlins. Dickerson doesn't see much playing time against left-handers at this point in his career, and he's not very useful for fantasy managers in mixed leagues. The 33-year-old left-handed hitter has played in only two games this year, thanks to a calf strain that had him on the injured list for a while. Dickerson has only had four plate appearances and is still searching for his first hit while striking out twice. Stone Garrett is getting the nod in left field for the Nats and is hitting eighth against Luzardo. Garrett is batting .254 (17-for-67) with a homer and seven RBI in 19 games played in 2023.

Fri May 12 202312:09Corey Dickerson Starting Rehab Assignment Friday
Washington Nationals outfielder Corey Dickerson (calf), who has been on the injured list since April 1 with a left calf strain, is starting a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Rochester on Friday night. The Nationals will probably give Dickerson as much time as he needs in the minors before bringing him back to the big leagues. The expectation is that when he's healthy, he'll return to seeing regular time in left field against right-handed pitching for the rebuilding Nats. The 33-year-old left-handed-hitting veteran doesn't have a whole lot to offer fantasy managers these days, though, especially in a part-time role. Before getting hurt, he went hitless with two strikeouts in his two games played.

Thu Apr 6 202315:17Corey Dickerson Taking Swings, Sean Doolittle Throwing
Washington Nationals outfielder Corey Dickerson (calf) traveled with the team to Colorado and is taking light swings but not running yet. Relief pitcher Sean Doolittle (elbow) continues to throw off flat ground but hasn't gotten back on a mound yet. Dickerson was put on the 10-day injured list after straining his left calf last Saturday, and he's unlikely to be activated when he's eligible to return next week. In Dickerson's absence, Alex Call is seeing more playing time in left field. Doolittle had surgery last July to fix a partially torn UCL in his left elbow, and we're unlikely to see him in the big leagues until at least sometime in May.

Sun Apr 2 202312:04Corey Dickerson Placed On Injured List With Calf Strain
Washington Nationals outfielder Corey Dickerson (calf) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Sunday with a left calf strain. In a corresponding move, the team recalled outfielder Stone Garrett from Triple-A, and he could see some playing time in left field alongside Alex Call with Dickerson on the shelf. Call is starting in left field and is hitting sixth in the batting order on Sunday against the Atlanta Braves and left-hander Jared Shuster. The 33-year-old Dickerson was injured on Saturday, and he went 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts in the first two games of the regular season before landing on the injured list. Dickerson is by no means a must-hold in shallow mixed leagues.

Fri Mar 3 202312:22Corey Dickerson Has Been Hitting Second
Washington Nationals outfielder Corey Dickerson has hit in the two-hole in all three of his Grapefruit League games so far, and manager Dave Martinez has praised him as a "professional hitter." There's a chance the Nats keep the 33-year-old veteran near the top of the lineup when regular season games begin at the end of March. It's indicative of the state of Washington's roster rebuild, as Dickerson hasn't done much at the plate in recent seasons. He hit .267/.300/.399 with a career-low .698 OPS, six home runs, 36 RBI and 28 runs scored in 297 plate appearances and 96 games with the St. Louis Cardinals last year. Dickerson won't kill your batting average in NL-only leagues, but he probably won't provide much else.

Tue Jan 10 202316:43Corey Dickerson Lands One-Year Deal With Nationals
The Washington Nationals agreed to a one-year deal worth $2.25 million with free-agent outfielder Corey Dickerson on Tuesday. Dickerson can make an extra $750,000 in 2023 via performance bonuses. The rebuilding Nats will take a chance on the 33-year-old veteran outfielder after he slashed .267/.300/.399 with a .698 OPS, six home runs, 36 RBI and 28 runs scored in 297 plate appearances and 96 games with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2022. In a Washington outfield with very few proven players at the major-league level, Dickerson should be in line to enter the 2023 campaign in the strong side of a platoon against right-handed pitchers in left field. It will give him some appeal in deep mixed leagues for playing time alone, but Dickerson doesn't have much upside at this point in his career.

Fri Dec 30 202213:15Rockies Have Interest In Edward Cabrera, Corey Dickerson
The Colorado Rockies have talked about acquiring starting pitcher Edward Cabrera from the Miami Marlins, who are seeking hitters, even after signing infielder Jean Segura this week. The Marlins have sought Rockies infielder Brendan Rodgers. The Marlins plan on using Segura at third base and already have Jazz Chisholm locked in at the keystone. The Rockies also have interest in a left-handed-hitting outfielder and might consider bringing Corey Dickerson, who began his career in Colorado, back into the fold. The Rockies can always use more pitching, and Cabrera would represent a young, controllable arm. He's coming off a solid second year in the big leagues in which he went 6-4 with a 3.01 ERA (4.59 FIP), 1.07 WHIP and 25.8 percent strikeout rate in just 14 starts covering 71 2/3 innings.

Sun Jun 5 202214:28Corey Dickerson Placed On The Injured List
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Corey Dickerson (calf) was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left calf strain. Dickerson exited Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Cubs early as his calf was bothering him. He didn't appear in the second game either and was placed on the injured list on Sunday. There is currently no timetable for his return but the team should provide an update on him later this week. The 33-year-old Dickerson has struggled this season, posting a .194 batting average and .531 OPS across 98 at-bats.

Sat Apr 9 202211:50Corey Dickerson Starting At Designated Hitter Saturday
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Corey Dickerson will make his season debut during Saturday's matchup against the Pittsburgh Pirates, batting fifth as the designated hitter, according to MLB.com. Last season, the 32-year-old hit .271 with six home runs and six stolen bases over 109 games split between the Miami Marlins and Toronto Blue Jays. Dickerson doesn't figure to get everyday at-bats but should get plenty of opportunities against right-handers, as he owns a career .288 batting average against right-handers and hit .277 off of them in 2021. With righty Mitch Keller taking the mound for the Pirates, fantasy managers looking for batting average help should feel comfortable streaming Dickerson.

Thu Mar 17 202211:57Corey Dickerson Nearing Deal With Cardinals
Free-agent outfielder Corey Dickerson is nearing an agreement with the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday, according to a source. Dickerson split the 2021 season with the Miami Marlins and Toronto Blue Jays and finished with a .271/.326/.408 slash line, six home runs, 29 RBI and six stolen bases in 365 total plate appearances spread across 109 games. Dickerson was an All-Star back in 2017 with the Tampa Bay Rays, but he's become more of a platoon bat against right-handed pitchers with very modest power as he enters his age-33 season in 2022. Dickerson figures to see most of his at-bats as the designated hitter for St. Louis while also occasionally seeing time in a corner outfield spot.

Tue Aug 24 202123:03Corey Dickerson Homers In Loss
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Corey Dickerson slugged his fifth homer of the season on Tuesday as his club fell to the White Sox 5-2. His solo shot in the seventh ended Dylan Cease's shutout bid for his only hit of the ball game as he finished the night going 1-for-4. The veteran is finding pretty consistent playing time since George Springer landed back on the shelf, and he's occupying a valuable spot in the batting order by batting out of the fifth spot. Dickerson is hitting a modest .245 with three homers and nine RBI in 18 games since joining the Jays, but you could do worse with a fifth OF spot in deeper leagues.

Wed Aug 18 202121:51Corey Dickerson Hits Fourth Dinger
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Corey Dickerson swatted his fourth home run of the season on Wednesday as his club fell to the Nationals 8-5. He didn't get the start in the contest, but he managed to make good on one of his two at-bats in the ballgame after entering in the sixth on a double switch. Dickerson has found decent playing time since coming off the IL in early-August and he's helped the bottom of the Jays order with a .282 BA and eight RBI in 14 games. He's not worth targeting in 12-team leagues, but he could be a viable asset in AL-only and deep-league formats.

Fri Aug 13 202112:13Corey Dickerson Leaves Due To Injury On Thursday
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Corey Dickerson (back) was unable to get through Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. He was pulled during the game due to back tightness. Dickerson went 0-for-2 at the plate before exiting and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. taking his spot. It wouldn't be shocking to see the Jays give Dickerson the day off on Friday to rest. Hopefully Dickerson can avoid a trip to the injured list, but more information should be known later in the day.

Fri Aug 6 202118:14Corey Dickerson Isn't In Friday's Lineup
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Corey Dickerson isn't in the team's lineup on Friday as they get set to take on right-hander Nathan Eovaldi and the Boston Red Sox. Dickerson, who the Blue Jays acquired from the Marlins earlier this season, is batting .255 with a .314 on-base percentage, two home runs, and two stolen bases in 236 plate appearances. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. is starting in left field and batting sixth in place of Dickerson. The 27-year-old is hitting .262 with a .297 on-base percentage, 11 home runs, and a stolen base in 365 plate appearances this season. He could be worth a look as a streaming option in deeper leagues.

Wed Aug 4 202122:25Corey Dickerson Drives In A Pair Wednesday
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Corey Dickerson drove in his first two runs with his new team on Wednesday as his club rolled to an 8-6 victory over the Indians. His two-run double in the first inning was his only hit of the ballgame as he finished the contest going 1-for-4 out of the sixth spot in the lineup. It was just the 32-year-old's second game with the Jays since his trade from Miami at the end of June after he spent the last six weeks on the injured list with a foot injury. With Cavan Biggio back on the shelf, Dickerson should play nearly everyday in the outfield or as a DH, but he's not a viable fantasy asset unless his bat really starts to heat up.

Wed Jun 30 202103:22LEADING OFF: Ohtani, Schwarber staging own home run derby
A look at what's happening around the majors today: ATTA BABE Angels two-way star Shohei Ohtani (3-1, 2.58 ERA) is expected to become the second player and first since Babe Ruth to start on the mound and hit in the top half of the batting order in the Bronx. Ohtani has looked plenty comfortable at the plate in New York this week, hitting a home run Monday night and then connecting for two more homers Tuesday night, giving him a major league-leading 28. This will be Ohtani’s first pitching appearance at Yankee Stadium and his career-high 12th pitching start this season. He’ll oppose Yankees righty Domingo Germán (4-5, 4.32 ERA). Ruth batted third in his final game on the mound on Oct. 1, 1933, to end that season. The Bambino homered and threw a 12-hit complete game with three walks and no strikeouts, leading the Yankees over the Boston Red Sox 6-5. Ohtani will become the fifth player to homer twice and start the next game as a pitcher after John Montgomery Ward in 1883, Bob Caruthers in... [More]

Tue Jun 29 202117:20Blue Jays acquire OF Dickerson, RHP Cimber from Marlins
MIAMI (AP) — The Toronto Blue Jays acquired injured outfielder Corey Dickerson and reliever Adam Cimber in a trade Tuesday with the Miami Marlins. Miami obtained infielder Joe Panik and minor league reliever Andrew McInvale. Dickerson is sidelined with a bruised left foot and is expected to be in a walking boot for at least two more weeks. He is batting .260 with two homers and 14 RBIs. “He's going to be a good addition,” Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo said Tuesday before Toronto began a three-game series against the Mariners in Buffalo. “We have a right-handed lineup, and to add him to the lineup, a left-handed bat like that, it's going to help us a lot.” Montoyo is familiar with Dickerson from their time together in Tampa Bay. Dickerson was an All-Star for the Rays in 2017, when Montoyo was a bench coach. “He's a gamer,” Montoyo said. “He's one of those guys that is always dirty because he plays the game the right way. He plays hard. It's all about getting him healthy now.” Jesus Sanchez... [More]

He is batting .260 with two homers and 14 RBIs. Jesus Sanchez had taken over in left field during Dickerson's absence. “We definitely look at this as a move about today and the future,” Marlins general manager Kim Ng said Tuesday before Miami opened a three-game series in Philadelphia. “We need to look at Jesus Sanchez as a piece of this. We got sped up in the process in terms of bringing Jesus up after the month he had in Triple-A. When we saw Jesus and saw how he’s handling it up here, we felt more comfortable in trading Corey Dickerson. Jesus being able to take that spot at this point was part of the equation.” The sidewinding Cimber has a 2.88 ERA... [More]
