Sat Apr 1321:25Carlos Correa Dealing With An Intercostal Strain
Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (side) is dealing with a mild right intercostal strain. The Twins initially listed Correa's injury as a right oblique strain, but the team changed its diagnosis after he underwent additional imaging. The timeline for Correa will be announced next week. Correa is eligible to come off the injured list on April 22. Willi Castro started at shortstop for Correa in both games of Saturday's doubleheader and should see an uptick in playing time. Castro went for 2-for-8 with a double, two-run homer, a walk, and three runs scored over both games on Saturday. Fantasy managers searching for speed can look to add Castro to most leagues after he stole 34 bases in 2023.

Sat Apr 1300:14Carlos Correa Likely Heading To Injured List
Minnesota Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said following Friday's loss to the Detroit Tigers that shortstop Carlos Correa (oblique) is expected to wind up on the injured list. Correa is heading for imaging after suffering a strained right oblique on Friday against the Tigers, and the club will know more about his status on Saturday. It's another hit to a Twins lineup that's already struggling to produce runs without the dynamic Royce Lewis (quad), as the 29-year-old former All-Star was slashing a robust .306/.432/.444 with one home run, two doubles, and four RBI over 36 at-bats (11 games) to begin the season. With No. 2 prospect Brooks Lee (back) currently out of action, Minnesota appears to be down to veterans Kyle Farmer and Willi Castro at short in the meantime. Farmer is 1-for-16 and Castro is 3-for-29 so far this year, so fantasy managers can certainly find better infielder options on waiver wires.

Fri Apr 1222:10Carlos Correa Exits Early With Oblique Strain
Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (oblique) exited early in Friday's game against the Detroit Tigers with a right oblique strain. Correa grabbed his right side after striking out during his second at-bat in the top of the third inning. He went 0-for-2 with a strikeout before exiting. The severity of Correa's injury is unknown at this time, and he is considered day-to-day. Willi Castro replaced him in Friday's game. Considering Correa is dealing with an oblique injury, the veteran shortstop could likely land on the injured list. Kyle Farmer should see an uptick in playing time while Correa is sidelined. Farmer is off to a slow start this season and has yet to collect a hit over 18 plate appearances in seven games in 2024. The 33-year-old is a speculative add in deep-league formats if Correa is forced to miss any time.

Tue Mar 1911:29Carlos Correa Hits First Spring Home Run
Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa hit his first home run of the spring on Monday in a 5-2 Grapefruit League win over the Red Sox. It was a solo shot off of Red Sox pitcher Nick Pivetta, and Correa finished the day 2-for-2 with a walk, an RBI, and one run scored. On the spring, the 2x All-Star is hitting .310 (9-for-29) with a home run, three RBI, and four runs scored. The 29-year-old played through injury for most of last season, but is now healthy heading into 2024. While he's well outside the top-12 SS for fantasy, he could very well be a value pick at the end of drafts as he should easily improve on last year's numbers and outperform his NFBC ADP of 244.

Mon Jan 2912:24Carlos Correa Looking Healthy For 2024
Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (foot) played with a lot of pain throughout the season after being diagnosed with plantar fasciitis in May. Correa stated that the injury would have kept him out as the pain increased in the summer, but he chose not to go on the injured list with the Twins contending. Finally, in late September, he went on the IL after hearing a pop, and the time off proved beneficial for the postseason. After posting a 96 wRC+ in 2023 -- his lowest ever for a season with more than 100 games -- he dominated in the postseason, hitting .409 with a 184 wRC+ in six games. A healthy Correa would likely mean a return to 130-140 wRC+ production in 100 or more games.

Mon Oct 9 202303:02Carlos Correa Climbs Playoff RBI Leaderboard Sunday
Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa was up to his clutch ways again on Sunday, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, and three RBI in a 6-2 victory over the Houston Astros in Game 2 of the ALDS. With the trio of RBIs, Correa tied David Justice for the third most all-time RBI in playoff games. He also has 120 fewer plate appearances than Justice and has less than the entire top eight. He simply finds a way to come through in the clutch, and should he make the playoffs a few more times in his career he will have a chance to reach the top of the leaderboard (Bernie Williams with 80 RBI).

Fri Oct 6 202312:28Carlos Correa Ready To Go For ALDS
Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (hand) is ready to play in the American League Division Series against the Houston Astros after getting hit by a pitch in Game 2 of the wild-card series against the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday. X-rays revealed no fractured fingers, and president of baseball operations Derek Falvey said Correa is fine. "It's the postseason and he's ready to go," Falvey said. "He got hit pretty hard there. But good signs from what we saw (Wednesday) night from an imaging standpoint." He's also dealt with plantar fasciitis for much of the year, but he looked great in two games this week and ran well against Toronto. Correa will be in the starting lineup against his old team, the Astros, for Game 1 of the ALDS in Houston on Saturday.

Wed Oct 4 202321:17X-Rays Come Back Negative On Carlos Correa's Hand
Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (hand) said that X-rays taken on his hand came back negative after he was hit by a pitch on his hand in the 2-0 win over the visiting Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday in Game 2 of the wild-card series. "No fracture. We're good to go," Correa said. The Twins swept the three-game series in Minnesota and will now head to the American League Division Series this weekend to face the defending world-series champs in the Houston Astros. The 29-year-old has been battling plantar fasciitis in his foot for much of the year, but he came up big on Wednesday by going 2-for-3 with an RBI after also getting a hit in Game 1 on Tuesday. Correa is hoping to put his disappointing 2023 regular season behind him in this year's playoffs.

Tue Oct 3 202314:11Carlos Correa Moved To Sixth In The Batting Order Tuesday
Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa will begin the postseason out of the six-hole for Tuesday's contest against the Blue Jays and right-hander Kevin Gausman. Continued plantar fasciitis issues threatened the 29-year-old's availability for this Wild Card series but he will indeed play while hitting out of the six-hole for the first time this season. It was a disappointing regular season for Correa offensively as he hit a career-worst .230 along with 18 homers and a .711 OPS across 135 games. His 96 wRC+ this season is the second-worst mark of his career and his worst mark over any non-COVID campaign. Correa has gone 3-for-14 (.214) with a double and three walks across 17 career plate appearances versus Gausman.

Mon Oct 2 202322:32Royce Lewis, Carlos Correa Expected To Be Ready For Wild-Card Series
Minnesota Twins infielder Royce Lewis (hamstring) and shortstop Carlos Correa (foot) are both expected to be on the team's 26-man roster for the wild-card series against the Toronto Blue Jays, which begins on Tuesday. Both players have been out of the lineup for the better part of two weeks, Lewis with a Grade 1 left-hamstring strain and Correa with plantar fasciitis. Team sources suggest that Lewis will likely be limited to designated hitter. Lewis is feeling good at the plate, but he still hasn't run at 100% and is clearly not at full strength. Correa last played a day before Lewis on Sept. 18 after feeling a pop in his left heel. He was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis back in May, but acknowledged the time off has been beneficial. Having both Lewis and Correa available will be a big boost, but it remains to be seen how productive they'll be while battling through their respective injuries.

Thu Sep 28 202312:41Carlos Correa Won't Travel To Colorado
Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (foot) is feeling better but will not travel with the team to Colorado for the final series of the regular season this weekend against the Rockies. Correa will work out at Target Field with the group that will stay back before the postseason starts next week, according to manager Rocco Baldelli. The 29-year-old has been battling plantar fasciitis for most of the year and will rest up for the playoffs, so fantasy managers will officially not have Correa for the final four games of the regular season, and it remains to be seen how effective he'll be for Minnesota once the postseason starts. Correa will finish his second season for the Twins with a disappointing .230/.312/.399 slash line, 18 home runs, 29 doubles, two triples, 65 RBI and 60 runs scored in 135 games (580 plate appearances).

Wed Sep 27 202318:18Carlos Correa Plays In Simulated Game
Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (foot) was able to play in a simulated game on Wednesday. Correa was able to take part in this session alongside teammates Royce Lewis (hamstring) and Byron Buxton (hamstring) who are also rehabbing injuries. Between that trio, it sounds like Correa is the closest to getting back on the field. Twins' manager Rocco Baldelli recently said that he hopes Correa is available for the upcoming weekend series versus the Colorado Rockies. Regardless, it sounds like Correa should be ready in time for the postseason.

Tue Sep 26 202318:46Carlos Correa Could Return This Weekend
Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (foot) is expected to make it back to the lineup before the end of the regular season. The 28-year-old was placed on the injured list September 19 due to a lingering plantar fasciitis issue in his foot. It is an issue that has bothered Correa throughout the season. Twins' manager Rocco Baldelli told reporters that Correa could return for the weekend series against the Colorado Rockies. The team could do that so Correa can get his timing back before the postseason begins.

Wed Sep 20 202312:06Carlos Correa Placed On Injured List Wednesday
The Minnesota Twins are placing shortstop Carlos Correa (foot) on the injured list on Wednesday and are recalling outfielder Trevor Larnach from the minors in a corresponding move. The good news for Correa is that he's expected to return from the injured list when he's first eligible on Sept. 29 against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. The 28-year-old has been dealing with plantar fasciitis in his foot for the entire second half of the season, and the hope is that giving him some rest will get him right for the postseason. The Twins will be short-handed on the infield moving forward, though, after Royce Lewis (hamstring) left Tuesday's game with a hamstring injury as well. Kyle Farmer should be Minnesota's everyday shortstop for the time being until Correa returns.

Tue Sep 19 202318:31Carlos Correa To Undergo MRI
Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (foot) remains out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. It marks the second game in a row that Correa will miss due to left foot issue. Now, it's being reported that Correa is expected to undergo an MRI on Tuesday. He's currently dealing with plantar fasciitis in his left heel, but wants to get a better look at it. The Twins are still listing Correa as day-to-day, but that could change once the MRI results come out. Fantasy managers will have to check back for another update.

Tue Sep 19 202314:40Carlos Correa Sitting On Tuesday
Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (foot) is not in the starting lineup Tuesday night against the Cincinnati Reds. Correa departed Monday's series opener in Cincinnati after aggravating his plantar fasciitis in his left foot before even recording a single plate appearance and should get as much time as he needs to recover with a playoff spot all but locked up in a weak American League Central division. The veteran has dealt with his foot issue for much of the season while he has underperformed at the plate in the process. Correa is hitting just .230 with 18 home runs and a .711 OPS across 135 games on the season with his 96 wRC+ sitting as a career-low outside of the 94 mark he posted during the shortened 2020 campaign.

Mon Sep 18 202321:37Carlos Correa Leaves Monday After Aggravating Plantar Fasciitis
Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (foot) left his team's Monday game against the Cincinnati Reds after aggravating his troublesome plantar fasciitis in his left foot. Correa aggravated the injury in the field during the first inning and did not record a plate appearance in the loss to the Reds. He was replaced at shortstop by Kyle Farmer, who can be expected to see the majority of the playing time at shortstop if Correa is forced to miss time. Stay tuned as the Twins should update his status in the next day or two.

Sat Sep 16 202311:29Carlos Correa Doubles In Return, Frustrated By Plantar Fasciitis
Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (foot), who went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored in Friday's lineup return, says that he's been bothered by discomfort in his left foot for the past four months due to plantar fasciitis. "It's just been hard to find a way to make it go away", the 28-year-old admitted. Correa had two maintenance days to rest his balky heel earlier this week, but the issue doesn't appear to be going away any time soon. This injury dates back to mid-May when Minnesota opted to play things day-to-day, and he hasn't gone on the injured list at any point. The two-time All-Star hasn't looked himself across 571 trips to the dish, slashing a career-low .230/.310/.402 with 18 home runs, 29 doubles, and 64 RBI, plus his defense hasn't been the same since his Houston Astros days. Fantasy managers might have to plan around more days off in the home stretch as the first-place Twins try to preserve Correa for the postseason however they can.

Thu Sep 14 202317:30Carlos Correa Out Again For Twins
Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa is out of the starting lineup for the second straight game on Thursday against the Chicago White Sox. Kyle Farmer will start at the 6 and bat in the eight-hole against White Sox right-hander Jose Urena. Correa has notably been battling plantar fasciitis in his foot for most of the second half of the season and is hitting just .226 (14-for-62) with two home runs, two doubles, six RBI, 16 strikeouts and nine runs scored in 16 starts since Aug. 26. The 28-year-old Puerto Rican has 18 home runs and 63 RBI in 131 games in his second year with the Twins, but he's also hitting a weak .229 (115-for-503) on the year after batting .291 in 136 games for Minnesota in 2022.

Mon Aug 28 202314:18Carlos Correa Continues To Fight Through Plantar Fasciitis
Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (foot) never went on the injured list after he was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis in his left foot in late May, but it's still affecting him in a big way despite currently being on an 18-game on-base streak with an .882 OPS. "Every step is a struggle. It's not easy to deal with," Correa said. "Out of all the things I've played with in my career, there's nothing more painful than what I've been through this year." Correa's .708 OPS would be the lowest of his nine-year career, and he's grounded into more double plays (26) than any player in the majors. The injury is affecting his sprint speed and his defense, but he continues to play through it. Fantasy managers can only hope that the 28-year-old can continue his recent hot streak through the end of the 2023 campaign.
