Thu Dec 21 202314:17Jake Lamb Signs Minors Deal With Pirates
Free-agent corner infielder Jake Lamb and the Pittsburgh Pirates are in agreement on a minor-league pact. The veteran has largely played third base in his big-league career but has also logged more than 400 career innings at first base as well. The 33-year-old most recently appeared in 19 games with the Angels in 2023, hitting .216 with two homers across 54 trips to the plate. He also hit .289 with 11 home runs and an .874 OPS across 85 games at the Triple-A level between the Yankees and Angels organizations. For his big-league career, Lamb has hit .235 with 96 homers, 18 stolen bases, and a .753 OPS across 724 games played but has seen his bat fall significantly below the league average since the 2018 season.

Sat Jul 15 202312:19Yankees Sign Jake Lamb To Minor-League Deal
The New York Yankees signed free-agent infielder/outfielder Jake Lamb to a minor-league deal on Friday and assigned him to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The 32-year-old left-handed hitter spent the first six-plus seasons of his career with the Arizona Diamondbacks, posting an .843 OPS with 59 homers from 2016-17. But injuries and poor performance led to his release in 2020. Since then, he's appeared in 127 big-league games for the A's, White Sox, Blue Jays, Dodgers, Mariners and Angels. He hit a solid .317 in 150 plate appearances for Triple-A Salt Lake this year but struggled with the Angels by hitting just .216 in 54 plate appearances. Lamb will strictly serve as infield and outfield depth in the minors for the Yankees for now.

Wed Mar 29 202318:22Jake Lamb Makes Team, Griffin Canning Placed On IL
The Los Angeles Angels selected the contract of corner infielder Jake Lamb on Wednesday, so he will be on the Opening Day roster. In other moves, the Angels placed right-handers Griffin Canning (groin) and Chris Rodriguez (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to March 27. Lamb dealt with a minor left gluteus injury at the end of spring training, but he's fine now and will give the Angels an experienced left-handed bat off the bench early in 2023. The 32-year-old can fill in at both third and first base. The 26-year-old Canning is expected to miss at least the first couple weeks of the season. With him out, Tucker Davidson is expected to operate as the team's sixth starter, but he won't be needed until mid-April.

Free-agent third baseman Jake Lamb has reportedly signed a minor-league contract with the Los Angeles Angels, according to a tweet from The New York Post's Jon Heyman on Wednesday morning. Lamb spent time with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Seattle Mariners during the 2022 campaign, hitting .216 with a 3.15 on-base percentage and three home runs in 111 plate appearances. Capable of playing first base, third base, left field and right field, the 32-year-old will provide the Angels with some additional depth around the diamond heading into next season.

Tue Aug 2 202219:15Jake Lamb Acquired By The Mariners
The Los Angeles Dodgers traded infielder/outfielder Jake Lamb to the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday. He is expected to be in the lineup against right-handers and will provide the Mariners with depth at first base/outfield. The 31-year-old is slashing .239/.338/.433 with two home runs, four RBI, and 10 runs scored in 25 games for the Dodgers. Los Angeles recently acquired Joey Gallo from the Yankees and with too many left-handed bats, sent Lamb to Seattle. Lamb is mainly an option in deep-league formats and can be used as a streamer in plus-matchups.

Wed Jun 29 202216:37Jake Lamb Earns His First Start On Wednesday
The Los Angeles Dodgers selected the contract of third baseman Jake Lamb from Triple-A on Tuesday. He appeared as a pinch-hitter in Tuesday's game and he is making his first start as a Dodger on Wednesday. He'll be slotting in as designated hitter and batting seventh in the game. The 31-year-old has had a productive year at Triple-A. Over 61 games, he's slashed .290/.395/.537 with 15 home runs, 50 RBI and 44 runs. He was abysmal during his time in the majors last year. Splitting the 2021 season between the Chicago White Sox and Toronto Blue Jays, he slashed just .194/.306/.368 with seven homers over 55 games. He'll likely be used primarily as a matchup-based pinch-hitter while he remains active for the Dodgers this year.

Sun Apr 3 202221:40Jake Lamb Reassigned To Minors Camp
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Jake Lamb has been reassigned to minor league camp. The Dodgers plan on carrying 16 pitchers, so that doesn't leave too many roster spots left for position players. Both Lamb and Kevin Pillar are expected to miss the roster with Edwin Rios likely snagging the final roster spot. The 31-year-old plans to accept his assignment to Triple-A. The former All-Star has struggled over the last few seasons. He hit .194/.306/.368 with seven long balls and 19 RBI last season between two teams. There's decent chance that Lamb gets to play in Los Angeles at some point this season, but he's unlikely to carry fantasy value.

Tue Mar 15 202213:57Jake Lamb Signs With Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed free-agent corner infielder Jake Lamb to a minor league deal. Lamb will make $1.5 million if he's on the major league roster in 2022. The 31-year-old lefty hitter was an All-Star for the Arizona Diamondbacks back in 2017, but he's fallen off since then and has slashed just .203/.308/.355 in the last four seasons with Arizona, the Oakland Athletics, Chicago White Sox and Toronto Blue Jays. Lamb hit a combined .194/.306/.368 with seven home runs, 19 RBI and 51 strikeouts in 170 plate appearances over 55 games with the White Sox and Blue Jays in 2021. He'll find it difficult to crack the Dodgers talented roster, especially if they sign superstar first baseman Freddie Freeman in free agency.

Wed Sep 29 202119:31Jake Lamb Released By The Blue Jays
The Toronto Blue Jays designated third baseman Jake Lamb for assignment this past weekend. He cleared waivers and he has officially been released by the team. He is now a free agent. The 30-year-old spent most of the year with the Chicago White Sox, who designated him for assignment on September 1. He was claimed off waivers by the Blue Jays, but didn't make it to the end of the month with the team. He slashed just .129/.256/.290 over 12 games as a Blue Jay. We'll see if he can find a new home before the end of the year.

Sat Sep 4 202113:46Jake Lamb Could Be Available Saturday
Toronto Blue Jays infielder/outfielder Jake Lamb may be available to play in Saturday's game against the Oakland Athletics, according to Keegan Matheson of MLB.com. Lamb was claimed off of waivers from the Chicago White Sox on Friday and has hit .212 with six home runs and a .389 slugging over 43 games this season. It's been a disappointing few years since he posted a .840 and .844 OPS in 2016 and 2017, respectively. He won't be an everyday player but may play third against righties with Cavan Biggio on the injured list. Fantasy managers can leave him on the waiver wire, except for the odd stream in favorable matchups.

Tue Aug 17 202122:56Jake Lamb Hits Sixth Home Run
Chicago White Sox infielder/outfielder Jake Lamb went 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs and home run in Tuesday's blowout victory versus the Oakland Athletics. Lamb crushed a two-run rocket off of Burch Smith in the bottom of the second to give the White Sox their first runs of the game. The veteran is now hitting .219 with six home runs and 13 RBI. Lamb only gets the occasional start for the White Sox and can remain on the waiver wire.

Fri Aug 6 202119:16Jake Lamb Activated On Friday
Chicago White Sox outfielder/designated hitter Jake Lamb (quadriceps) was activated from the 10-day injured list on Friday. The 30-year-old veteran has been out since the beginning of June because of a strained right quad and has most recently been working his way back at Triple-A Charlotte over the last few weeks. Throughout 31 games this season, Lamb is batting only .224, so it's unlikely this transaction will get any fantasy managers excited moving ahead.

Fri Jul 16 202118:51White Sox activate LHP Aaron Bummer from IL
CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago White Sox reinstated reliever Aaron Bummer from the 10-day injured list and recalled right-hander Reynaldo López from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday. The AL Central leaders also optioned relievers Matt Foster and Jace Fry to their top farm club. Bummer, 27, had been sidelined by a strained right hamstring. The left-hander is 1-4 with a 3.26 ERA and two saves in 32 games heading into Friday night's series opener against Houston. López has been working as a starting pitcher, but he will work out of the bullpen with Chicago. The 27-year-old right-hander made five relief appearances in his first 92 big league games. López went 1-3 with a 6.49 ERA in eight starts with the White Sox last year. He spent the first part of this season with Charlotte, going 1-6 with a 7.62 ERA in 10 starts. “He earned a spot. His velocity is up, making a lot of good pitches,” manager Tony La Russa said, “and he gives us some length in the bullpen.” La Russa also said López could start one... [More]

The 28-year-old Fry opened this season on the IL after he had an offseason microdiscectomy. He made two appearances with the White Sox, allowing three runs in two innings. ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/hub/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
Tue Jul 6 202120:48Yasmani Grandal out 4-6 weeks with torn tendon in left knee
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Catcher Yasmani Grandal was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday by the Chicago White Sox with a torn tendon in his left knee. Grandal was injured during an at-bat in Monday's loss in Minnesota. Chicago estimated Grandal will be out approximately four to six weeks. “It was a twist that he made as he made his swing," White Sox manager Tony La Russa said. “Something got caught. It didn’t free up to make a turn on it. It got caught and something popped. I’m anxious to get a full diagnosis. He’s on his way to Chicago, maybe in Chicago already, and we’ll know more tomorrow.” Grandal was hitting just .188 as Chicago's starting catcher, but he had a .388 on-base percentage in 63 games to go with 14 home runs and 38 RBIs. Seby Zavala, 27, was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte and was with the team for Tuesday's game in Minnesota. Zack Collins started Tuesday at catcher. “He was as productive as any position player we have for the last month or so," La Russa said of Grandal.... [More]
Wed Jun 30 202101:31White Sox place Lamb on IL with strained right quadriceps
CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago White Sox placed Jake Lamb on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday and reinstated fellow outfielder Billy Hamilton from the IL. The AL Central-leading White Sox also recalled first baseman Gavin Sheets from Triple-A Charlotte and optioned outfielder Luis González to their top farm club. AL MVP José Abreu started Tuesday night's 7-6 victory over Minnesota after the first baseman was hit on his left knee by a pitch on Sunday. Abreu walked twice and scored a run. But third baseman Yoán Moncada was sidelined by a “barking” right shoulder, according to manager Tony La Russa. “I know he got some treatment and it’s still not right, so just not going to push it,” La Russa said. The White Sox also announced center fielder Luis Robert has been cleared to increase his level of baseball activities at the team's complex in Arizona. Robert tore his right hip flexor on May 2. The move means Robert could be cleared for a minor league rehab assignment in approximately four weeks.... [More]

Tue Jun 29 202115:20White Sox place Lamb on IL with strained right quadriceps
CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago White Sox placed Jake Lamb on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday and reinstated fellow outfielder Billy Hamilton from the IL. The White Sox also recalled first baseman Gavin Sheets from Triple-A Charlotte and optioned outfielder Luis González to their top farm club. The 30-year-old Lamb has a strained right quadriceps. He is batting .224 with five homers and 10 RBIs in 31 games in his first season with Chicago. Hamilton was placed on the IL on June 6 with a strained right oblique. He is hitting .217 with two homers, 10 RBIs and five steals in 36 games for the AL Central leaders. The 25-year-old Sheets, a second-round pick in the 2017 amateur draft, is looking for his big league debut. He was with the White Sox for a couple of days earlier this month, but did not get into a game. The 6-foot-5 Sheets batted .292 with seven homers and 33 RBIs in 41 games with Charlotte. He also can play the corner outfield spots. Sheets' father, Larry, played for Baltimore, Detroit and Seattle during eight years in the majors. González, 25, went 2 for 8 in six games with the White Sox after he was recalled from Charlotte last week. He got his first big league hit when he doubled during Wednesday's 4-3 win at Pittsburgh. ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/hub/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
Thu Jun 10 202100:16Grichuk homers, Blue Jays beat sloppy White Sox 6-2
CHICAGO (AP) — Randal Grichuk hit a long home run and the Toronto Blue Jays took advantage of a season-high four errors by Chicago as well as a bases-loaded walk to beat the AL Central-leading White Sox 6-2 on Wednesday night. Grichuk hit a 451-foot drive leading off the second inning. Toronto rookie Alek Manoah threw five solid innings in his third major league start and the Blue Jays won despite another strong start by Chicago’s Lance Lynn. The White Sox were sailing along with a 2-1 lead after Lynn struck out nine over seven innings. But a shaky bullpen and poor defense spoiled things for Chicago. Toronto scored three runs in the eighth and tacked on two more in the ninth. Aaron Bummer (0-4) walked Vladimir Guerrero Jr. with the bases loaded in the eighth to force in the tying run. Two more scored when shortstop Tim Anderson overthrew first trying to complete a double play on Teoscar Hernández’s grounder against Codi Heuer, giving the Blue Jays a 4-2 lead.
