Wed Feb 1400:32Pirates Researching Noah Syndergaard, Domingo German
The Pittsburgh Pirates are still looking to bolster their starting rotation for 2024 and are reportedly considering free agents Noah Syndergaard and Domingo German, per Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Jason Mackey. Mackey reported that the team is doing more investigation into German's history to determine how comfortable they would be in signing him, given his numerous off-field incidents last season. As for Syndergaard, the Pirates expressed interest in him earlier this year. The 31-year-old pitched 88 2/3 innings in 18 starts for the Dodgers and Guardians in 2023, going 2-6 with a 6.50 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and 14.3% strikeout rate. Thor used to be a viable fantasy asset, but he has a lot to prove before becoming fantasy-relevant again, and joining the Pirates would not help his value.

Sun Feb 1113:27Padres Showing Interest In Free Agent Noah Syndergaard
Free-agent starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard is garnering interest from the San Diego Padres, according to beat writer Kevin Acee. The Padres don't have much clarity or depth in their starting rotation behind incumbents Joe Musgrove and Yu Darvish, who are both coming off injuries, so targeting someone like Syndergaard makes sense. San Diego has also been linked to free-agent Michael Lorenzen earlier this offseason. Syndergaard threw a bullpen session for interested teams back in January but hasn't received a ton of interest following that. Thor is coming off a disastrous 2023 campaign in which he registered a 6.50 ERA, 1.387 WHIP, and 56:19 K/BB over 88 2/3 innings between the Dodgers and the Guardians. San Diego could serve as a nice bounce-back spot for the veteran right-hander.

Tue Jan 2320:42Noah Syndergaard, Michael Lorenzen Hold Workout For Teams
Free-agent right-handers Noah Syndergaard and Michael Lorenzen threw bullpen sessions for around 16 MLB teams in California on Tuesday, according to sources. Both players were impressive, with Syndergaard consistently sitting at 93-95 mph. Syndergaard, 31, had a rough 6.50 ERA in 88 2/3 innings with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Cleveland Guardians in 2023 and is a candidate to receive a one-year, prove-it deal. He's drawing interest from the Pittsburgh Pirates, among others. Lorenzen, 32, had a 3.58 ERA in 105 2/3 innings with the Detroit Tigers last year and threw a no-hitter for the Philadelphia Phillies after being traded to the National League, but he had a 5.51 ERA in 11 games (seven starts) for the Phils and was moved to the bullpen late in the season.

Fri Nov 24 202316:31Multiple Teams Interested In Noah Syndergaard
Free agent pitcher Noah Syndergaard is reportedly garnering interest from multiple teams on the open market. The right-hander had an adventurous and disappointing season in 2023 as he posted a 7.16 ERA across 12 starts with the Dodgers before a mid-season swap that saw him headed to the Guardians in exchange for infielder Amed Rosario. Things didn't go a whole lot better in Cleveland where he worked to a 5.40 ERA across six outings before the club cut him loose in late August. However, he worked to a solid 3.94 ERA across 25 outings (24 starts) split between the Phillies and Angels in the 2022 campaign and is the owner of a 3.71 ERA across 164 MLB appearances. He could serve as a cheap flyer for a club in need of starting pitching depth.

Mon Aug 28 202312:10Guardians Designate Noah Syndergaard For Assignment
The Cleveland Guardians designated right-hander Noah Syndergaard for assignment on Sunday after he gave up five runs and four hits in six innings against the Toronto Blue Jays in a no-decision. The Guardians acquired Syndergaard from the Los Angeles Dodgers last month. The former first-rounder by the Blue Jays in 2010 has gone 2-6 with a rough 6.50 ERA this year. In his six starts with Cleveland, he won just one game. The 30-year-old's final start with the Guardians was the third time in his six appearances with the team that he allowed five earned runs. Thor will look to latch on with another team before the end of the 2023 season, but he's currently well off the fantasy radar.

Fri Aug 11 202312:17Noah Syndergaard Picks Up First Win With Guardians
Cleveland Guardians right-hander Noah Syndergaard picked up his first victory with his new team on Thursday in a 4-3 victory over the visiting Toronto Blue Jays. Syndergaard allowed just one earned run on six hits while walking two and striking out five in 5 2/3 innings of work. The victory was also Thor's first since April 30 with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 30-year-old didn't pick up a quality start, but he's been trending up of late and has allowed no more than one earned run in two of his three starts for Cleveland. The change of scenery may have been good news for Syndergaard, although he's still not missing a ton of bats and will be a matchup-based streamer in deeper leagues. In his 15 starts in 2023, he's gone 2-5 with a 6.35 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and only 46 K's in 72 1/3 frames.

Fri Aug 4 202312:32Noah Syndergaard Should Be Fine For Next Start
Cleveland Guardians right-hander Noah Syndergaard (calf) was pulled from his team debut in the sixth inning on Monday after he took a 101 mph ground ball off his right calf against the Houston Astros. Syndergaard was sore on Tuesday, but the Guardians are confident that he'll be fine to make his next start. Given that Thor hadn't pitched in the majors since June 7 due to a blister issue, mechanical hiccups and mental roadblocks, his debut for Cleveland this week went pretty well, injury aside. The 30-year-old gave up just a run on two hits while walking two and striking out none in 5 1/3 frames. However, he generated just whiffs on the 31 swings taken against him, and five of the 17 balls put in play against him had triple-digit exit velocities. Syndergaard will attempt to finish the season strong with his new team in 2023, but he'll most likely continue to be a risky streaming option in fantasy.

Tue Aug 1 202312:04Noah Syndergaard Hit By Comebacker Monday
Cleveland Guardians right-hander Noah Syndergaard (leg) was pulled from his debut with Cleveland early on Monday against the Houston Astros in the sixth inning after getting hit by a comebacker in the lower right leg. Syndergaard allowed an earned run on just two hits while walking two and striking out none in 5 1/3 innings before departing. It was a nice turnaround for the 30-year-old after he allowed at least five runs in each of his last three starts for the Los Angeles Dodgers before landing on the injured list with a finger injury and then being traded to the Guardians. Thor is now in a much easier division in the American League Central, but it remains to be seen if his latest injury will keep him from taking his next turn in the starting rotation.

Thu Jul 27 202319:06Noah Syndergaard Set For Guardians Debut Monday
Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard (blister) is scheduled to start Monday's game against the Houston Astros. The 30-year-old is slated to make his first big-league appearance since June 7 due to a blister. Although, the Los Angeles Dodgers didn't exactly show urgency in getting the former flame-thrower's arm back in the mix. Syndergaard was traded for former New York Mets teammate Amed Rosario on Wednesday, but the right-handed hurler is probably not worth a fantasy play in his team debut. "Thor" totes a rough 7.16 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 38:9 K:BB ratio covering 55 1/3 innings this year.

Wed Jul 26 202319:51Noah Syndergaard Shipped To Guardians
The Cleveland Guardians acquired right-hander Noah Syndergaard (finger) from the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday in exchange for shortstop Amed Rosario, according to a source. The deal is pending a review of both player's medicals. A lot more was expected from Syndergaard in 2023 in Los Angeles' starting rotation in his first full year back from Tommy John surgery, but things didn't go so well. Thor will head to the American League after going 1-4 with a 7.16 ERA (5.54 FIP), 1.45 WHIP, nine walks and just 38 strikeouts in 55 1/3 innings over his 12 starts for the Dodgers. He has also been on the injured list since June 8 with a blister on his right index finger, although he should be able to return soon. The 30-year-old will lose even more fantasy value with the move to Cleveland.

Mon Jul 24 202321:05Noah Syndergaard To Make Next Rehab Start Thursday
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Noah Syndergaard (finger) is slate to make his next rehab start on Thursday for Triple-A Oklahoma City. Syndergaard's start on Thursday will be his third and final rehab outing, so the Dodgers will likely activate the veteran hurler after that. The 30-year-old has made 12 starts for LA this season, posting a 1-4 record and a 7.16 ERA over 55 1/3 innings.

Fri Jul 21 202318:55Noah Syndergaard To Make Rehab Start On Friday
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard (blister) is scheduled to make another rehab start at Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday. The right-hander has been sidelined since early June due to a blister on his index finger. He was able to throw 52 pitches during his last rehab start. The assumption is that he'll get closer to the 70-pitch mark for Friday's start. Syndergaard wasn't pitching well before the injury, so fantasy managers can probably use a wait-and-see approach when he finally does return.

Sun Jul 16 202309:59Noah Syndergaard Throws Decently In Saturday’s Rehab Start
Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher Noah Syndergaard (blister) tossed five innings of two-run ball with six strikeouts in Saturday's rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City. The 30-year-old has been sidelined by a right index finger blister since June 8, but could be set for a return soon. While Syndergaard may be needed to shore up the injured-plagued Dodgers rotation, this version of the righty probably isn't worth stashing in most fantasy leagues. The former flame-thrower is mired in his worst MLB season yet, dragging a 7.16 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, and 38:9 K:BB over 55 1/3 innings this year.

Fri Jul 7 202322:09Noah Syndergaard Nearing Rehab Assignment
According to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register, Dodgers starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard (finger) will begin a rehab assignment soon. Skipper Dave Roberts didn't specify how long it would last, only stating it would depend on "health and performance.." The 30-year-old has been on the shelf since the beginning of June because of a blister. Hopefully, some time away will help improve Syndergaard's disastrous 7.16 ERA upon his return.

Tue Jul 4 202318:37Noah Syndergaard Throws Successful Bullpen Session
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard (finger) was able to throw a successful bullpen session on Tuesday. The right-hander has been sidelined since early June due to a blister on his right index finger. The next step is for Syndergaard to throw a three-inning simulated game. After that, the 30-year-old will likely head back on a minor league rehab assignment. The Dodgers aren't in a rush to bring him back considering he had a 7.16 ERA before landing on the injured list.

Sat Jun 24 202318:20Noah Syndergaard Throws Bullpen Session
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard (finger) was able to throw a live bullpen session on Saturday. The right-hander was able to face a few of his teammates without an issues during this session. Syndergaard has been sidelined since early June with a blister on his right index finger. Before that, Syndergaard held an ugly 7.16 ERA (5.55 FIP), 1.45 WHIP with 38 strikeouts in 12 starts. It's uncertain when he'll be ready to return, but it's unlikely he'll have much fantasy value anyway.

Thu Jun 8 202312:00Dodgers Put Noah Syndergaard On Injured List
The Los Angeles Dodgers placed starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard (finger) on the 15-day injured list on Thursday with a blister on his right index finger. Manager Dave Roberts said the team will build Syndergaard back up slowly once his blister heals. The Dodgers are in no hurry to rush the 30-year-old right-hander back out there after he has gone 1-4 with an ugly 7.16 ERA (5.55 FIP), 1.45 WHIP, nine walks and only 38 strikeouts in 55 1/3 innings over his 12 starts for the Blue so far in 2023. Fantasy managers in mixed leagues can send Thor to the waiver wire, and there's a chance he won't even have a rotation spot available to him once he's healthy enough and stretched out for a return to the big leagues.

Sat Jun 3 202309:12Noah Syndergaard Sticking In The Rotation
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard will make his next scheduled start on Wednesday against the Cincinnati Reds, per skipper Dave Roberts. The 30-year-old has a dismal 6.54 ERA with 35 strikeouts over 52 1/3 innings this year. Since an encouraging first start of the year giving up one run in six innings, it's mostly been downhill from there. Syndergaard has just two quality starts since. The former All-Star has taken a massive fall from grace since Tommy John surgery back in 2020, which has apparently sapped of most the former flame-thrower's velocity. Even though Syndergaard is undefeated in his 56 2/3 career innings against the Reds with a 2.22 ERA, the big righty will not be a great fantasy option for that one.

Mon May 15 202314:09Noah Syndergaard "Good To Go" For Monday's Start
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard (finger) threw a bullpen session on Saturday, and the team determined he was "good to go" for his next scheduled start on Monday against the Minnesota Twins. Syndergaard left his last outing last week against the Milwaukee Brewers after just one inning due to his right index finger being cut open with a blister. Many fantasy managers were hoping that the 30-year-old right-hander would bounce back with more velocity in his first year in LA after coming back from Tommy John surgery last year, but that hasn't been the case so far. In seven starts for the Dodgers, Thor has a 6.12 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 21 strikeouts in his 32 1/3 innings. He'll be a shaky fantasy play coming off his finger injury on Monday night.

Fri May 12 202321:49Noah Syndergaard Will Be Tested On Saturday
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard (finger) will throw a bullpen session on Saturday. If all goes well, there's a chance the right-hander will make his start on Monday versus the Minnesota Twins. Syndergaard, who exited Tuesday's meeting in Milwaukee after just one inning because of a finger injury, has struggled this season. He has started seven games, amassing a 1-3 record with a miserable 6.12 ERA, so fantasy managers may not be as enthusiastic about having him in the lineup even if he's available. But if Syndergaard doesn't suit up on Monday, Gavin Stone could be on the hill.
