Fri Nov 5 202112:24White Sox Outright Brian Goodwin And Three Others
The Chicago White Sox outrighted four players off the 40-man roster Friday. Outfielder Brian Goodwin and pitchers Evan Marshall, Jimmy Cordero, and Jace Fry all cleared waivers and are now free agents. Pitcher Anderson Severino was added to the 40-man roster in a corresponding move. Among those players, only Goodwin was fantasy-relevant at any point in the 2021 season, slashing .221/.319/.374 with eight homers, one steal, 29 RBI, and 33 runs scored in 235 at-bats while filling in for the injured Luis Robert and Eloy Jimenez. He should not be selected in 2022 fantasy drafts, but he could end up being a short-term piece off the waiver wire once again.

Mon Sep 27 202109:17Brian Goodwin Lands On Injured List With Back Spasms
The Chicago White Sox placed outfielder Brian Goodwin (back) on the 10-day injured list on Sunday. The move is retroactive to September 24. Goodwin is dealing with lower back spasms. Due to the timing of the move, he is ineligible to return from the injured list during the regular season. The White Sox called up relief pitcher Matt Foster to fill his roster spot. The 30-year-old Goodwin slashed .221/.319/.374 with eight home runs, 29 RBI and 33 runs over 72 games this year. He had been operating as a reserve outfielder lately as the team has a fully healthy outfield.

Fri Aug 6 202119:05Brian Goodwin Continues Power Surge
Chicago White Sox outfielder Brian Goodwin continues to swing a hot bat this week and played the hero in Friday's victory versus the Chicago Cubs. Goodwin didn't start the game, but came in as a pinch-runner for outfielder Eloy Jimenez in the top of the sixth inning. Goodwin would then open the top of the tenth inning at the plate and crushed a two-run homer off of Manuel Rodriguez. Goodwin has been swinging a hot bat over the last couple of games and has now homered in three of his last four games. Despite the recent power display, the veteran doesn't see everyday playing time and should see even less playing time with outfielder Luis Robert (hip) inching towards his return to the White Sox. Goodwin's best value is as a DFS option.

Sun Aug 1 202118:45Brian Goodwin Walks It Off On Sunday
Chicago White Sox outfielder Brian Goodwin played the role of hero in Sunday's victory versus the Cleveland Indians. Goodwin went 1-for-3 with two runs, one walk and a solo home run. Goodwin's home run was a walk-off homer against Nick Wittgren and it would be his second homer in as many days. Goodwin has been in the lineup with outfielder Eloy Jimenez (groin) being sidelined for four straight games. When Jimenez is healthy, Goodwin will see a decrease of playing time and that makes him expendable in all formats. The veteran is now hitting .248 with six home runs and 19 RBI.

Sat Jul 31 202122:49Brian Goodwin Hits Fifth Home Run
Chicago White Sox outfielder Brian Goodwin went 1-for-3 with two runs, two walks and a solo home run in Saturday's loss versus the Cleveland Indians. Goodwin was struggling entering the contest, but has been playing with outfielder Eloy Jimenez (groin) banged up. Goodwin came through and not only with his home run, but he also worked a walk against James Karinchak to open the bottom of the eighth inning and would score when fellow outfielder Adam Engel hit a two-run home run as the next batter. Despite the nice night of work, Goodwin doesn't get enough playing time to make an impact for managers and can remain on the waiver wire. He is now hitting .246 with five home runs and 18 RBI.

Jean Segura scored Ronald Torreyes with an infield single in the 10th inning for his second straight game-ending hit and the Philadelphia Phillies got a third consecutive walkoff win with an 8-7 victory over the New York Yankees on Saturday.
