Tue Mar 2611:16Trevor Story With A Home Run, Three RBI On Monday
Boston Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and a run scored in Monday's 9-2 Grapefruit League win over the Rangers. Story's bat has caught fire of late, as he's collected at least one hit in six straight games while going 9-for-18 (.500) over that span. The two-time All-Star is now 18-for-48 (.375) in Grapefruit League action with four doubles, three home runs, 14 RBI, six runs scored, and even three stolen bases. It appears the 31-year-old is fully recovered from last season's elbow surgery as well as the neck stiffness that he experienced earlier this spring. He's not a top-12 option at SS, but with his power and ability to steal bases, he's got the upside (and momentum) to easily outperform his NFBC ADP of 173 overall.

Thu Mar 714:33Trevor Story Scratched With Neck Stiffness
Boston Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story was scratched from Thursday's lineup versus the Atlanta Braves due to Neck Stiffness. MassLive.com reporter Chris Cotillo relayed that the ailment is nothing to worry about as the scratch was precautionary. The veteran returned from elbow surgery last season and limped to a .203 average with three home runs and a .566 OPS in 43 games, albeit with 10 stolen bases. That said, Red Sox hitting coach Peter Fatse spoke highly of Story who was afforded a fully healthy offseason, saying "he looks great" in February. Indeed, Story is a nice bounce-back candidate who should provide a quality combination of power and speed as ATC projects 18 home runs and 20 stolen bases from the 31-year-old in 2024. He shouldn't be considered a primary shortstop but rather an asset in leagues with middle-infield spots.

Fri Jan 2619:13Trevor Story Looking Primed For Big Season?
Boston Red Sox hitting coach Peter Fatse has liked what he's seen out of shortstop Trevor Story this offseason. "He looks great," Fatse said. "He's moving well, and those are the signs you want to see at this point. He's explosive, I think his offseason program was really good and it's the first time in three years he's had an offseason structure like this. I think that's going to be huge for him." Story was coming off elbow surgery last year and admitted he was basically trying to just survive in the batter's box in 2023. But he's now back to full health and enjoying his first normal offseason since joining Boston in March of 2022. Fatse thinks with more consistent at-bats and a less-chaotic routine, Story could get back to being the prolific run producer he was in Colorado. The 31-year-old should be able to help in the stolen base department, but he's a huge injury risk at a premier position.

Boston Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story collected four hits Sunday afternoon against the Detroit Tigers. Sat Aug 12 202313:12Trevor Story Absent From The Lineup On Saturday
Boston Red Sox infielder Trevor Story is not in the starting lineup on Saturday against the Detroit Tigers. Story, who made his season debut on Friday, has been recovering from offseason elbow surgery and will likely get routine off days in an effort to manage his workload. He went 2-for-4 with a stolen base on Friday, which was encouraging to see. Pablo Reyes is starting at shortstop and batting sixth in his place on Saturday. Story should be back out there for Sunday's series finale.

Tue Aug 8 202317:41Trevor Story Hitting In Three-Hole In Season Debut
Boston Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story (elbow) is starting at shortstop and is hitting in the three-hole for Boston in his 2023 season debut on Tuesday against the Kansas City Royals and right-hander Brady Singer. Story was activated from the 60-day injured list earlier on Tuesday after finally recovering from surgery on his right elbow in January. The 30-year-old hasn't played in an MLB game since last September, so fantasy managers may want to expect some initial rust, although he did look good at the plate during his minor-league rehab assignment. Story was about league average when healthy in 2022 in Boston, but he also dealt with injuries along the way. He'll be the team's everyday shortstop and could provide fantasy managers with decent counting stats the rest of the way.

Mon Aug 7 202317:48Trevor Story To Return Tuesday
Boston Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story (elbow) decided that he's ready and will be activated from the 60-day injured list on Tuesday. Story will make his 2023 debut against the Kansas City Royals after finishing up a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester. The 30-year-old looked good at the plate in 13 rehab games in the minors, so hopefully he can produce right away for fantasy managers that have kept him stashed or have recently picked him up off the waiver wire. Boston will likely build in scheduled off days for Story upon his return, but there's no doubt from the Red Sox coaching staff that he will operate as the team's starting shortstop the rest of the season.

Sun Aug 6 202312:37Trevor Story Won't Make Red Sox Debut Until Thursday
Boston Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story (elbow) will take the full 20 days on his minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester, according to manager Alex Cora. Story's rehab assignment expires on Wednesday, so the earliest he will make his 2023 debut for Boston will be on Thursday against the visiting Kansas City Royals. The 30-year-old is attempting to return from surgery on his right elbow. Given his long layoff -- he hasn't played in the majors since last September -- the Red Sox wanted to give him plenty of time to get his timing down in the minors. Story has looked pretty good on his rehab assignment, and he's going to step in immediately as Boston's starting shortstop when he comes off the 60-day injured list next week.

Sat Aug 5 202319:08Trevor Story Continues Making Progress
Boston Red Sox infielder Trevor Story (elbow) will serve as the designated hitter for Saturday's rehab game with Triple-A Worcester. The team plans on having Story play shortstop on Sunday before a day off on Monday. It sounds like the 30-year-old is making progress, but probably won't hit his goal of 20 rehab games. The expectation is that Story is going to rejoin the Red Sox roster at some point next week. Fantasy managers should check the waiver wire and make sure Story isn't sitting there.

Wed Aug 2 202319:26Trevor Story Won't Return Friday
Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that shortstop Trevor Story (elbow) won't be activated from the injured list on Friday. Cora pumped the brakes on a potential return this weekend for Story on Tuesday, but the 30-year-old's minor-league rehab assignment will be up next week regardless, so fantasy managers should expect him back then. Boston is taking their time with Story, who hasn't played in the big leagues since last September. In nine rehab games with Double-A Portland and Triple-A Worcester, he's gone 6-for-24 with three home runs, a double, six RBI, a stolen base and five runs scored. When he comes off the IL next week, Story is going to operate as Boston's starting shortstop for the rest of the 2023 season.

Tue Aug 1 202319:45Trevor Story Might Not Return This Weekend
Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora has pumped the brakes on shortstop Trevor Story's (elbow) return from the injured list this weekend. There's a chance Story makes his 2023 season debut this weekend, but either way, his minor-league rehab clock runs out on Aug. 9, so he'll be back next week one way or another. The Red Sox aren't going to rush the 30-year-old veteran back as their starting shortstop since he hasn't played in a major-league contest since last September. Until he's back, Yu Chang should continue to operate as the starter at the 6 in Beantown. Story will be the team's everyday starter at the position when he comes back, although the Red Sox could build scheduled off days into his schedule early on.

Tue Jul 25 202322:39Trevor Story Could Return As Early As This Weekend
Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora said the team will consider bringing shortstop Trevor Story (elbow) back this weekend. Story is playing shortstop, designated hitter and shortstop again the next three days on his minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester. It's possible the Red Sox bring him back sooner, but his timing is off at the plate and they want to make sure he's fully ready when he makes his 2023 big-league debut. The 30-year-old has gone 2-for-8 with a home run in three rehab games with Double-A Portland. The two-time All-Star hasn't played for Boston since late last season, so fantasy managers may want to temper expectations for him once he's back. The good news is that he's going to operate as the team's starting shortstop immediately upon his return.

Mon Jul 24 202309:42Trevor Story Beginning Rehab Assignment On Monday
Boston Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story (elbow) had his minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester moved to Monday. The 30-year-old went 2-for-8 with a homer and a 5/2 K/BB ratio in three games at Double-A Portland. The expectation is that he'll play close to 20 games in the minors to prepare himself for the big leagues. The two-time Silver Slugger has been sidelined all season after undergoing elbow surgery. It sounds like he should be available at some point in August. Fantasy managers should make sure he's not sitting around on the waiver wire.

Sat Jul 22 202310:17Trevor Story Cranks Homer In First Rehab Game
Boston Red Sox infielder Trevor Story (elbow) crushed a three-run home run in his rehab debut appearance at Double-A Portland on Friday. The 30-year-old ended up seeing five innings of action defensively at shortstop. Story is scheduled to function as the designated hitter on Saturday before getting another turn at short on Sunday. There is a 20-day window for Story's assignment, but fantasy managers are running low on time to make sure the two-time Silver Slugger isn't floating around waiver wires at this stage. He is still available in over half of Yahoo leagues.

Wed Jul 19 202321:05Trevor Story To Start Rehab Assignment Friday
Boston Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story (elbow) will start his minor-league rehab assignment with Double-A Portland on Friday. The initial plan is for Story to play five innings at shortstop on Friday before getting at-bats as the designated hitter on Saturday, and logging another five innings at the 6 on Sunday. His rehab assignment can last a maximum of 20 days, and manager Alex Cora stressed the Red Sox aren't going to rush him back to make his 2023 debut after having right-elbow surgery. The 30-year-old is feeling good physically, both at the plate and in the field, and his readiness will mostly be a matter of building back up. Story will immediately return as the team's everyday shortstop, but fantasy managers may want to temper expectations. He hasn't played in a big-league game since Sept. 11 of last year.

Tue Jul 18 202312:10Trevor Story Expected To Begin Rehab Assignment Within A Week
Barring any setbacks, Boston Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story (elbow) is expected to start a minor-league rehab assignment within the week. Manager Alex Cora should have a specific date for the start of Story's rehab assignment on Tuesday. Story will get a maximum of 20 days on his rehab assignment, but it remains to be seen how long he'll be down on the farm. The 30-year-old veteran thinks he'll be playing shortstop for Boston by August, but the Red Sox won't rush him back to use him as the designated hitter. He has been out all year after having an internal-bracing procedure done on his right elbow in January. Story will be the team's starting shortstop when he returns, so fantasy managers may want to pick him up now off the waiver wire if he's still available.

Mon Jul 10 202314:04Trevor Story Throwing From 160-170 Feet
Boston Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story (elbow) is getting closer to making his 2023 debut for the Red Sox and has been throwing from 160-170 feet. Story hasn't played yet this year due to an internal-bracing procedure he had on his right elbow in January. He will continue to work out at Fenway Park over the All-Star break, and he thinks a minor-league rehab assignment could be coming soon. The 30-year-old veteran should return at some point in August. "I'm almost there," said Story. "I think we'll have a rehab assignment pretty quick after the All-Star break, not exactly sure when. That's exciting that it feels close." Story could stay on his rehab assignment for up to a maximum of 20 days, although if he's feeling well, it probably won't be that lengthy.

Wed Jul 5 202316:31Trevor Story Could Begin Rehab Assignment After All-Star Break
Boston Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story (elbow) is making fast progress in his rehab, and manager Alex Cora said that there is a chance that Story begins a minor-league rehab assignment after the All-Star break. The Red Sox don't have any plans to bring him back early as the designated hitter, and when he does return, he'll be the team's primary shortstop. The 30-year-old is attempting to make it back from an internal-brace procedure on his right elbow, and he was scheduled to take batting practice on Tuesday. Story hasn't played in a major-league game since Sept. 11 of last year, so fantasy managers may want to temper their expectations once he returns in 2023. David Hamilton and Enrique Hernandez have been sharing time at the 6 in Beantown of late.

Sun Jul 2 202319:40Trevor Story To Take Batting Practice On Tuesday
Boston Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story (elbow) is scheduled to take live batting practice ahead of Tuesday's game. The 30-year-old has been sidelined all season long while recovering from offseason UCL surgery. Manager Alex Cora said that the team does not currently have a timetable for Story's return. However, the fact Story is facing live batting practice is a good sign. Hopefully, Story will be able to get back on the field before the end of the season.

Wed Jun 28 202309:54Trevor Story Doing Field Work
Boston Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story (elbow) has increased his throwing and is fielding ground balls from shortstop, according to manager Alex Cora. The 30-year-old still plans to play shortstop for the club in August and possibly return as a designated hitter in July. Story has been out all year after undergoing offseason surgery to repair his UCL. In 2022, the former Colorado Rockie slashed .238/.303/.434 with 16 bombs, 53 runs, 66 RBI, and 13 steals across 94 games. Fantasy owners can continue to stash Story on their injured list, and if he's available on the waiver wire, managers may want to consider picking him up.
