Rondon will provide the Rockies with bullpen help in the short term, but they won't need it Sunday, as the game has been postponed due to weather. A corresponding roster move has yet to be announced.

A dark horse to claim an Opening Day bullpen gig with the Rockies after he was claimed off waivers from the Cardinals in November, Rondon failed to impress in his limited spring opportunities, yielding four hits and a walk over 2.1 innings. He was able to use his biting fastball to pick up four strikeouts, which does give him a dose of upside should be able to harness his control with more regularity. Expect him to open the year at Triple-A Albuquerque.

Rondon was claimed off waivers by the Rockies on Monday.
The 26-year-old right-handed reliever has only pitched one inning in the big leagues, but he posted a 3.03 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP in 62.1 innings at the Cardinals' Triple-A affiliate last season, and could fit in as a middle reliever in Colorado.

Jorge Rondon pitched another scoreless frame Thursday and has yet to allow a run in 7 1/3 innings this spring.
He's given up eight hits, walked two and struck out six. The 25-year-old Rondon was added to the Cardinals' 40-man roster in Oct. 2012, but he's yet to appear in the majors. He's making a nice case for a spot in this year's pen, though. There should be room for two of he, Pat Neshek and Sam Freeman, at least until Jason Motte returns.
