Tue Dec 6 202213:06Nomar Mazara Signs Minor-League Deal With O's
The Baltimore Orioles agreed to a minor-league deal with free-agent outfielder Nomar Mazara on Tuesday. The San Diego Padres designated Mazara for assignment in late August and he cleared waivers. The 27-year-old left-handed-hitting outfielder actually had a decent season for the Friars, slashing .264/.316/.352 with two home runs, 18 RBI and 16 runs scored in 171 plate appearances and 55 games before the Padres swung the blockbuster trade with the Washington Nationals to acquire right fielder Juan Soto. Mazara will be hoping to win a roster spot out of spring training with the Orioles heading into the 2023 season.

Tue Jul 5 202223:33Nomar Mazara Adds Three Hits Tuesday
San Diego Padres outfielder Nomar Mazara added three hits in four at-bats Tuesday with a double and a run scored. Mazara was called up to the majors on June 2 and has become a regular contributor, slashing .301/.356/.434 while starting nearly every game in right field. His two homers, 10 runs scored, 13 RBI, and zero steals aren't much to speak of, but fantasy managers could do worse than to roster the fifth hitter in what should be a consistently excellent Padres lineup, especially for free off the waiver wire.

Thu Jun 2 202209:50Nomar Mazara To Be Called Up By Padres
The San Diego Padres will be calling up outfielder Nomar Mazara from Triple-A, according to Robert Murray of MLB Insider. The 27-year-old has been swinging a hot bat at Triple-A this year. Over 35 games, he's slashed .367/.454/.641 with seven home runs, 27 RBI and 32 runs. Mazara was a highly-touted prospect coming up through the Texas Rangers' organization several years back. He struggled to find consistency during his time in the majors with the Rangers and has been bouncing around the league since parting ways with the organization in 2019. He figures to be a reserve outfielder for the Padres once he joins the team.

Wed Apr 6 202211:39Nomar Mazara Reassigned To Minors
San Diego Padres outfielder Nomar Mazara has been reassigned to Triple-A El Paso. The former top prospect had a chance at making the Opening Day roster. However, a poor performance in spring training has resulted in a trip to the minors. The sixth-year veteran once put together three straight seasons of 20 home runs with the Texas Rangers. Sadly, he has played less than 100 games total over the last two seasons. His departure to the minors increases the likelihood that CJ Abrams makes the Opening Day roster. Hopefully, Mazara should rejoin the big league team at some point, but fantasy managers shouldn't expect much out of him.

Fri Dec 17 202111:47Nomar Mazara Lands With Padres
The San Diego Padres signed outfielder Nomar Mazara to a minor league deal that includes an invite to big-league spring training. Mazara was eligible to sign a minor league during MLB's lockout because he didn't finish the 2021 season on any team's 40-man roster after he was released by the Detroit Tigers in June. Mazara made his big-league debut at 20 years old in 2016, batting .266/.320/.419 with 20 home runs in 568 plate appearances in his rookie season. But the left-handed slugger never was able to break out and he posted below-average offensive numbers for the Texas Rangers before he was traded to the Chicago White Sox. He struggled with Chicago in 2020 before slashing just .212/.276/.321 in 181 plate appearances for Detroit last year. The 26-year-old represents a low-cost depth option for a Padres team with plenty of questions at the corner outfield spots.

NEW YORK (AP) — Jacob deGrom was pulled from a do-it-all gem with right flexor tendinitis, a troubling diagnosis for the New York Mets that clouded a 3-2 victory over the San Diego Padres on Friday night. DeGrom (6-2) faced the minimum over six innings and ripped a two-run single, giving him five RBIs this season — compared to four earned runs allowed. He struck out 10 in the abbreviated outing. DeGrom left after 80 pitches and extending his scoreless streak to 22 innings. He had a no-hit bid until Wil Myers beat the shift with a weak grounder in the fifth. Billy McKinney drove in a run with the first of his two doubles in the fifth, and deGrom followed with his two-run hit. San Diego dropped its third straight. Blake Snell (2-3) allowed three runs in four-plus innings, and the Padres couldn’t do enough damage against New York’s bullpen.
