Mills was designated for assignment on Saturday and cleared through waivers to make it back to Triple-A Nashville. The journeyman lefty made one appearance for the A's and holds a 4.45 ERA in 127.1 innings for Triple-A Nashville this season.

This marks Mills' second time being designated for assignment this week after the 30-year-old lefty was DFA'd by the Blue Jays on Tuesday. He made a spot start Friday against the Orioles, allowing three earned runs over five innings of work to take the no decision.

Mills allowed three runs on seven hits, walking one and striking out one over five innings, while coming away with a no-decision against the Orioles on Friday night.

The journeyman southpaw was making his first appearance in the major leagues since last August, and while he did a respectable job, he is not a fantasy asset, and is unlikely to remain with the A's for an extended stay.

Mills has been officially recalled to start Friday's game against the Orioles.
