Wed Jul 11 201818:17Francona apologizes to Indians for bullpen blunder
CLEVELAND (AP) — Indians manager Terry Francona spent the night tossing, turning and trying to forget. There are tough losses during the course of a season. And then there are troubling ones — like what happened Tuesday night."I thought about it at 1 o'clock. I thought about it at 2 o'clock. I thought about it at 3 o'clock. I thought about it at 4 o'clock," Francona said Wednesday, still coping with the Indians' shocking — and embarrassing — 7-4 loss to Cincinnati. "Between 6 and 8 I actually slept."He wasn't the only one with insomnia.Francona and several of his coaches had trouble moving past a communication breakdown that helped the Reds score seven runs in the ninth inning. As the Reds were rallying, Francona wanted to bring in left-hander Oliver Perez to face slugger Joey Votto with two outs, the bases loaded and the Indians clinging to a 4-3 lead. But pitching coach Carl Willis thought he heard Francona tell him to summon right-hander Dan Otero.Votto promptly hit a three-run double... [More]

Mills allowed three runs on seven hits, walking one and striking out one over five innings, while coming away with a no-decision against the Orioles on Friday night.
The journeyman southpaw was making his first appearance in the major leagues since last August, and while he did a respectable job, he is not a fantasy asset, and is unlikely to remain with the A's for an extended stay.

Mills has been officially recalled to start Friday's game against the Orioles.
Despite struggling at Triple-A Nashville for most of the season, Mills will come up to take the hill Friday. He's allowed 13 runs over his last two Triple-A starts and has an 84:49 K:BB ratio in 127.1 innings. To clear a roster spot, the A's optioned Arnold Leon to Nashville.

Fri Aug 14 201510:30Mills leading candidate to start Friday's game in Baltimore
Mills is the leading candidate to start Friday's game in Baltimore, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Mills allowed 13 runs over his last two starts at Triple-A Nashville, but he has the advantage of already being scheduled to pitch Friday. He's taken a major step backward this season, with a 4.52 ERA and 84:49 K:BB ratio over 127.1 innings for Nashville, after posting a 2.01 ERA and 103:23 K:BB ratio in 107.1 innings at the same level last season. The A's might also consider Barry Zito or Cody Martin to start Friday's game.
Fri Aug 15 201412:33Mills has accepted outright assignment to Triple-A Buffalo
Mills has accepted his outright assignment to Triple-A Buffalo, Sportsnet's Shi Davidi reports.
Mills made two appearances for the Blue Jays, where he was shelled for 13 earned runs over 4.1 innings. He was then designated for assignment, but rather than test the free agent market, Mills will remain in the Toronto organization. He saw fleeting success as a spot starter in Oakland, but would only be used for another spot start by the Blue Jays in a desperate situation.
Tue Aug 12 201420:32The Blue Jays designated Mills for assignment Tuesday
The Blue Jays designated Mills for assignment Tuesday, MLB Daily Dish's Chris Cotillo reports.
He was terrible in his brief stint with the Blue Jays, giving up 13 earned runs in 4.1 innings. This is the third franchise he's been with this season, starting with Milwaukee before going to Oakland and now Toronto, so there's always a chance a team could scoop him up, but it's unlikely he'll have any fantasy value the rest of the season.

Mon Jul 21 201422:01Brad Mills gives up eight runs in relief
Making his Blue Jays debut, Brad Mills was pummeled for eight runs in two innings of relief by the Red Sox on Monday.
Mills had two quality starts in three tries for the A's before the Jeff Samardzija-Jason Hammel deal made him expendable; his one failure in that span was also against Boston. The Blue Jays merely paid the waiver price to bring him in last week, so one or two more bad outings and he'll likely be sent packing again.

Tue Jul 1 201421:28Mills takes first loss despite quality start
Brad Mills fell to 1-1, allowing three runs over six innings in Tuesday's loss to the Tigers.
Make that back-to-back quality starts for the lefty, recently acquired from the Brewers for a buck. He allowed six hits -- including a two-run home run to J.D. Martinez -- while walking three and striking out six. Mills now has a 4.41 ERA, a 1.59 WHIP, and a 14/7 K/BB ratio over 16 1/3 innings. He'll go up against the Blue Jays at home when he takes his next turn in the rotation.
