Sweeney is out of the lineup Sunday against the Marlins.

Sweeney had started the previous two games as the Phillies look to evaluate him for 2016, but he'll sit in the season finale, as Andres Blanco plays second and Darin Ruf joins the outfield mix. The 24-year-old switch hitter is hitting just .167/.278/.333 over 84 at-bats with the Phillies this season.

Sweeney is not in the lineup Friday against the Nationals.

Sweeney is currently enduring a 1-for-24 slump, and will be held out of the lineup for the fourth time in five games as a result. Aaron Altherr will slide over to left field, while Brian Bogusevic will get the start in right field.

Sweeney is out of the lineup Sunday against the Braves, Ryan Lawrence of the Philadelphia Daily News reports.

Sweeney's recent 1-for-19 stretch at the plate has dropped his bating line to .161/.278/.371 on the season. Along with the drop in average, his playing time has taken a dip as well. He'll sit out for the second time in three games Sunday, with Aaron Altherr starting in left field and Jeff Franceur in right.

Sweeney is not in the lineup Friday against the Braves.

Sweeney has seen most of his work in left field, but has recently transitioned over to second with Cesar Hernandez out for the season. Andres Blanco will get the start at the keystone Friday, while Aaron Altherr will shift over to left field.

Sweeney will likely see more playing time at second base with Cesar Hernandez potentially out for the year with a dislocated thumb, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Sweeney has been seeing most of his work in left field since joining the Phillies. He is hitting .191 (9-for-47) with three home runs in 21 games this season.

Sweeney is out of the lineup Friday.

He is out of the lineup with Jeff Francoeur starting in left field for the second game in a row. It may be tricky to predict playing time in left field down the stretch for the Phillies, but Sweeney should still be a prominent figure as he is one of the few players who could be a part of the team's long-term plans.

Sweeney is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cubs.

Sweeney has just three hits since Sept. 2, so manager Pete Mackanin decided to hold him out Thursday. Jeff Francoeur will get the start in left field in Sweeney's place.

Sweeney is expected to see increased playing time in the outfield with Domonic Brown (concussion) questionable to return this season, the Phillies' official site reports.

Sweeney started in left field and hit fifth Friday night. He went 0-for-3 with a RBI and a walk. He'll probably make most of his starts in left with Cody Asche being shifted back to third base for the remainder of the season. He stole 32 bases in the minors this season, so he might be worth a look if you are in need of speed in a deeper league.

Interim manager Pete Mackanin said "there's a good chance" that Sweeney could get additional playing time moving forward, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Sweeney started at second Saturday and went 1-for-3 with a home run. He has just three hits since joining the Phillies after the Chase Utley trade, but two of those hits have been home runs. With Cesar Hernandez scuffling, the Phils could give Sweeney some additional time at second base over the final month of the season.

Interim manager Pete Mackanin said Sweeney will get a start in center field on Sunday, CSN Philadelphia reports.

Sweeney, who homered Saturday, has been limited to pinch hitting duties since joining the Phillies. He is expected to be used primarily as a backup in center and at second base. He could also see a little time at third base.

The 24-year-old Sweeney seems likely to serve in a utility role for the Phillies, with his occasional pop and decent wheels making him an intriguing NL-only consideration.

Sweeney, officially traded to the Phillies for Chase Utley on Wednesday, will be immediately called up Thursday to replace Utley on the Phillies' 25-man roster.

Sweeney will be making his major league debut after being drafted by the Dodgers in the 13th round of the 2012 draft. The switch hitter's bat hasn't been very impressive in 2015, putting up a .271/.332/.409 line with Triple-A Oklahoma City, but his speed and glove should be assets off the bench for Philadelphia. The 24-year-old has played second base, third base, shortstop, center field, and left field in his minor league career and he has 122 stolen bases in four professional seasons, albeit with 55 caught stealing attempts.

Sweeney is believed to be on of the prospects headed to Philadelphia as part of the Chase Utley deal, MLB.com's Todd Zolecki reports.

The 24-year-old Sweeney owns a .741 OPS with 32 stolen bases over 116 games in the Pacific Coast League this season. The deal hasn't been made official by either club just yet, so expect an official announcement regarding Sweeney's status to be confirmed at some point Thursday.

Sweeney is batting .350 with three home runs in his last 10 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Overall, the second baseman is up to .289/.345/.441 with seven homers and 26 stolen bases. At worst, he has the look of a future utilityman.

Sweeney is 7-for-17 in his last four games to raise his slash to .255/.322/.375 with 20 stolen bases.

There doesn't really appear to be a spot for Sweeney in LA anytime soon, and his performance to date doesn't really warrant 25-man roster consideration anyway.

Sweeney is hitting .333 in his last 10 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City, taking his slash line up to .261/.344/.384 overall. He's also swiped 17 bases already.

Sweeney has played second base and the outfield the last couple years and really doesn't appear to have a shot at regular playing time for the Dodgers anytime soon.
