RHP Dustin McGowan was sent to Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday. He pitched in just one game for the Mets and had a 6.75 ERA.

RHP Kevin McGowan was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas Tuesday, when he made his major league debut by allowing one run over 1 1/3 innings of relief in the Mets' 7-4 loss to the Diamondbacks. McGowan, who went 5-4 with a 4.06 ERA and four saves in 44 games this season for Las Vegas, will likely serve in a middle relief role down the stretch for the rebuilding Mets. This is the second trip to the majors for McGowan, who did not appear in a game while with the Mets from Aug. 13-15. McGowan was allowed to return before spending 10 days in the minors because he is taking the place of LHP Steven Matz, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list in a corresponding move.

McGowan allowed six runs on seven hits over 3.1 innings in Tuesday's 19-3 loss to the Orioles.

McGowan allowed five home runs and saw his ERA balloon to 6.94. The Phillies were forced to stick with him after starter Jerome Williams left the game in the first inning with a hamstring strain.

McGowan was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday.

McGowan will replace Jake Diekman, who was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday. The Phillies hope to bring Diekman back before long, meaning McGowan's stay in the big-league bullpen could be a short one. McGowan has really struggled this season, allowing nine earned runs and a whopping 16 walks through 14 innings.

McGowan has been sent down to Triple-A Lehigh after clearing waivers, Jim Salisbury of CSN Philadelphia reports.

McGowan was unspectacular to say the least in his only start for the Phillies and will likely only be seen in a bullpen role going forward unless they get truly desperate.

McGowan lasted just 3.1 innings Thursday against Miami, giving up four runs on three hits and four walks while striking out four.

His first start of the season did not go too well, illustrating why McGowan started only eight games over the past two seasons with Toronto. He may get another crack at starting next week against the Cardinals, but if that doesn't work out, it's hard to imagine the Phillies being very patient with McGowan, who's probably best served in middle relief at this point in his career.
