Chicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu had a solid offensive game in the team's 9-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday despite not recording a hit. He went 0-for-1 in the game, but he drew three walks and he was also hit by a pitch. The 34-year-old veteran is hitting just .211 so far this month with a .342 slugging percentage. However, his walk proficiency has led to a solid .388 on-base percentage so far in September. Abreu has 29 home runs on the year to go along with 107 RBI and 80 runs. His 9.1% walk rate is a career-best clip, up from 6.9% last year.

Chicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu continued his impressive second half with a two-hit performance in Tuesday's victory versus the Pittsburgh Pirates. Chicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu continued his strong second half of the season on Thursday versus the Toronto Blue Jays. The slugger went 1-for-5 with a solo home run on the afternoon. Abreu didn't have the protection of outfielders Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert for much of the first half of the season, but their return to the lineup has helped Abreu put together an impressive second half. The reigning American League MVP is hitting .310 with five home runs and 13 over his last 15 games. For the season, Abreu is now hitting .257 with 27 home runs and 97 RBI. Managers should continue to have confidence with Abreu.
