SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) — The Baltimore Orioles have many jobs up for grabs, and nowhere is the competition less defined than in the infield.As the team held its first full-squad workout on Monday, only one infield position is secured — first base. Chris Davis is entering the fourth year of a seven-year, $161 million contract.Besides Davis, there are 13 players on the roster competing for the three starting positions, and a utility job or two.Davis, like the Orioles, had a horrid 2018 season. He hit just .168 with 16 home runs and 49 RBIs and 192 strikeouts in 128 games as Baltimore lost a franchise-record 115 games.There aren't any clear favorites early on.The Orioles obtained Jonathan Villar in their July remake from Milwaukee and he played both second and shortstop over the season's last two months. PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Pirates have activated left fielder Corey Dickerson from the 10-day disabled list.Dickerson, who is second in the NL in hitting, has been out since July 25 with a strained left hamstring.Dickerson goes into Saturday night's game with the St. Louis Cardinals with a .318 batting average, three points behind league leader Christian Yelich of Milwaukee. Dickerson also has 11 home runs and 44 RBIs in 91 games."I've been working through it and got to a place where I can go out there with confidence that I can help the team win," Dickerson said.Infielder/outfielder Christopher Bostick was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis.

The Pittsburgh Pirates placed infielder Josh Harrison on the 10-day disabled list with a fracture of the fifth metacarpal on his left hand, the team announced Sunday.Harrison, 30, suffered the injury Saturday night when he was hit by a 96-mph pitch thrown by Cincinnati Reds right-hander Tyler Mahle in the fifth inning.It was Harrison's major-league-leading 23rd time being hit by a pitch this season. He is batting .272 with 16 home runs and 47 RBIs in 128 games.In a corresponding move, the Pirates recalled outfielder/infielder Chris Bostick from Triple-A Indianapolis.Bostick, 24, went hitless in four at bats with the Pirates during his first stint in the big leagues in May. In 126 games with Indianapolis this season, he is hitting .294 with seven home runs and 57 RBIs while playing all three outfield positions as well as second base and third base.

The Pittsburgh Pirates acquired infielder Chris Bostick from the Washington Nationals on Monday.In return, the Nationals received minor league catcher Taylor Gushue and cash considerations.The 23-year-old Bostick hit a combined .250 with 22 doubles, 10 triples, eight home runs and 51 RBIs in 135 games this season between Double-A Harrisburg and Triple-A Syracuse.Bostick was originally selected by Oakland in the 2011 draft before being acquired by Texas on Dec. 3, 2013. The right-handed hitting infielder was then acquired by Washington on Dec. 11, 2014.Bostick has a career minor league average of .263 with 122 doubles, 39 triples, 49 home runs, 294 RBIs and 107 stolen bases in 615 games since making his professional debut in 2011. He entered this season tabbed as Washington's 23rd-best prospect, according to MLB.com.Bostick was added to the 40-man roster but will not report to Pittsburgh. To make room for Bostick on the 40-man roster, infielder Josh Harrison was placed on the 60-day disabled list (right groin strain).Gushue, 22, was the Pirates' fourth-round pick in 2014. He played at Class A Bradenton this season, hitting .226 with 17 doubles, eight home runs and 38 RBIs.
