CHICAGO (AP) — The Colorado Rockies have sent down prospect Ryan McMahon and promoted infielder Daniel Castro from Triple-A Albuquerque.McMahon is batting .180 with no homers and three RBIs in 28 games. The infielder also has struck out 22 times in 60 plate appearances.The 25-year-old Castro had a 22-game hit streak with the Isotopes at the time of the move. 2B Daniel Castro matched his career high with three hits, the sixth time he accomplished that feat. He also had a career-best three RBIs.

INF Daniel Castro was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday despite his team being in the International League playoffs because INF/OF Chase d'Arnaud is dealing with a sore foot. Castro homered in the opener of Gwinnett's series with Columbus and was 2-for-6 with four RBIs in two games.

INF Daniel Castro was called up from Triple-A Gwinnett to take the roster spot of OF Hector Olivera, who was put on administrative leave by Major League Baseball after his arrest early Wednesday for a domestic dispute at the team hotel in Arlington, Va. Castro attended Major League spring training and then was assigned to Gwinnet on March 12. He hit .333 in 21 at-bats in Triple-A after he made his big league debut last June against the Boston Red Sox as a pinch-runner.

Castro is in the lineup for Friday's game against the Marlins, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Jace Peterson was listed as the starting second baseman initially, but apparently the team posted the wrong lineup. It will be Castro at the keystone, batting second, against right-hander Jose Fernandez. Castro is 9-for-38 (.237 average) with two extra-base hits, one walk and eight strikeouts so far this month.

Castro was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.

With rosters expanding Tuesady, Castro will return to the Braves for the first time in just under a month. During two major league stints earlier this season, Castro went 9-for-30 (.300) with a double, an RBI and three strikeouts in 11 games. In 112 games between Double and Triple-A, Castro has slashed .295/.335/.330.

This move clears a spot for Michael Bourn and signifies that Andrelton Simmons is nearing full health. Castro will continue to offer organizational infield depth from the Triple-A level.

Castro will bat second Friday against the Marlins.

After hitting eighth or ninth in his first six major league starts, Castro will leap to the two-hole Friday with Eury Perez out of the lineup. Castro has two three-hit games in his last three starts, but he had just a .604 OPS with Triple-A Gwinnett before his recall and will face a tough test Friday in Jose Fernandez. Further, Castro's window to play regularly figures to close once Andrelton Simmons (thumb) is cleared to return.

By trading Juan Uribe and Kelly Johnson to the Mets, the Braves freed up a couple roster spots, and Castro got the call for his second stint with the big club. The 22-year-old Castro has posted a lackluster .264/.313/.291 batting line in 66 games with Gwinnett this season, but he will provide Atlanta with defensive versatility in a utility infield role.
