OF Travis Snider was acquired by the Mets from the Rangers for cash considerations. Snider signed a minor league contract with Texas and batted .294 with nine homers and 44 RBIs in 100 games. Snider is a .244 hitter in 630 major league games for Toronto, Baltimore and Pittsburgh, and for Mets fans he is remembered for leaping over the right field wall to rob Mike Baxter of a home run Sept. 28, 2012, at Citi Field when he was still with the Pirates.

Snider will start in right field and bat second against the Cubs on Saturday, Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Snider has five hits (including two homers) in 11 career at-bats against starter Jason Hammel. He replaces Gregory Polanco, who will get a chance to rest his achy knee.

Snider will make his first start Monday in left field since returning to the Pirates, Stephen Nesbitt of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Snider struck out on three pitches in a pinch-hitting role Tuesday against the Brewers.
He hit .314 in 35 Triple-A at bats with Indianapolis prior to his recall. Snider becomes Pittsburgh's primary left-handed bat off the bench but he'll need to do better than Tuesday if he intends to keep the role.
Tue Sep 1 201516:47Snider called up from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday
Snider was called up from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.
After being released by the Orioles in mid-August, Snider agreed to rejoin the Pirates, with whom he spent most of the previous three seasons. Snider struggled to a .659 OPS in 69 games with Baltimore, but he had a .264/.338/.438 line across 359 plate appearances just last season, and his addition bolsters what's already a very deep bench in Pittsburgh. He could even see occasional starts in the corner outfield.
Thu Aug 20 201510:13Provided he finds game at Triple-A
Provided he finds his game at Triple-A, Manager Clint Hurdle considers Snider a potential option "at two different outfield spots and an option off the bench," the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Hurdle added that Snider will first need to earn a spot on the 40-man roster. "We saw probably the best two-and-a-half months of his career here," the manager noted. "He needs to get some playing time, and he needs to sharpen his skills. We've got history with him, so let's get him out, get him playing, see how that bat can show up." Travis Ishikawa represents the only left-handed bat off Pittsburgh's bench.
Wed Aug 19 201515:36Snider signed minor-league deal with Pirates on Wednesday
Snider signed a minor-league deal with the Pirates on Wednesday, SB Nation's Chris Cotillo reports.
The 27-year-old outfielder will report to Triple-A Indianapolis but is considered likely to be added to the Pirates' roster once rosters expand on Sept. 1. He spent more than two seasons with the Pirates from 2012 to 2014, but with Starling Marte, Andrew McCutchen and Gregory Polanco on the roster it's hard to see Snider getting many starts down the stretch.
Sat Aug 15 201516:55Snider released by Orioles on Saturday
Snider was released by the Orioles on Saturday, Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun reports.
Snider, who was DFA'd by the ball club on Aug. 7, will now become a free agent following his release from the organization. The former Pirate failed to perform, leading to a major decrease in playing time as the season went on (68 ABs in June, 34 in July). Snider is eligible to sign with any team and could be picked up by a club in need of corner outfield help.
Fri Aug 7 201518:06Snider designated for assignment Friday
Snider was designated for assignment Friday.
Snider's playing time and production has dwindled as the season has gone along, and now the club will see what it has in recently acquired outfielder Junior Lake. His at-bat total dropped from 68 in June to 34 in July and the addition of Gerardo Parra locked down one of Baltimore's corner outfield spots, which further limited Snider's opportunities.

Outfielder Travis Snider was designated for assignment by the Baltimore Orioles on Friday.
Outfielder Travis Snider was designated for assignment by the Baltimore Orioles on Friday. Snider hit just .237 in 211 at-bats and became expendable after the team acquired outfielders Gerrardo Parra and Junior Lake.

Snider has started just one game since July 28, going 0-for-2 with two strikeouts and a walk.
Snider's playing time was already shrinking throughout July and the acquisition of Gerardo Parra seems to have depleted his playing time even further. Snider is just 2-for-36 since July 1.
Sun Jul 26 201511:58Snider out of lineup Sunday against Rays
Snider is out of the lineup Sunday against the Rays, Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.
Snider is in the midst of a 1-for-15 slump over his last six games, and will give way in left field to David Lough. The Orioles have been unable to receive much in the way of consistent production from their corner outfielders this season, so expect Snider's at-bats to remain somewhat spotty until he heats up again.
Thu Jul 23 201511:09Snider out of lineup Thursday against Yankees
Snider is out of the lineup Thursday against the Yankees, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Snider has made three consecutive starts, but will get the day off in favor of David Lough in left field. It's likely a case of manager Buck Showalter wanting to get an extra lefty bat in the lineup against Masahiro Tanaka.
Sat Jul 18 201516:44Snider out of lineup Saturday against Tigers
Snider is out of the lineup Saturday against the Tigers.
Snider will give way to Nolan Reimold in left field Saturday as the Orioles go up against Tigers' lefty David Price. His continues to have an up-and-down role on the team, but could draw back into the lineup Sunday with right-hander Justin Verlander on the mound.
Sun Jul 12 201510:59Snider not in lineup for Sunday's game against Nationals
Snider is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Snider typically starts against right-handed pitchers, but the Orioles will give David Lough a rare start in left field for the final game of the first half.
Thu Jul 2 201515:26Snider out of lineup Thursday against Rangers
Snider is out of the lineup Thursday against the Rangers, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Snider normally starts against right-handed pitching and rests against southpaws, but he will sit Thursday with righty Yovani Gallardo on the mound for the Rangers. While it doesn't necessarily indicate a switch in the outfield, it's definitely something worth monitoring over the next few days.
