Sun May 9 201016:31Gaston: Ruiz to see more at-bats
Blue Jays manager Cito Gaston said Randy Ruiz will see more playing time.
"I'm just trying to get Ruiz in there once in a while," Gaston said. "I'm going to do my best to try to get him in a couple days a week, if I can. We'll see what happens." This proclamation may have come sooner, but Ruiz missed six days earlier this month while away from the club tending to a personal issue. Although he is hitting only .167 this year, Ruiz hit .313, with 10 homers and 17 RBI in 33 games with Toronto in 2009. Lyle Overbay, meanwhile, is hitting .179 and might lose some at-bats to Ruiz, according to Gaston.
