LHP John Danks officially ended his tenure with the White Sox when the team officially requested waivers on him. Danks was designated for assignment from the White Sox last week.

LHP John Danks will be designated for assignment, White Sox GM Rick Hahn said before Tuesday's game. Danks, 31, was 0-4 with a 7.25 ERA in four starts this season, which marked the final year of a five-year, $65 million contract. He went 79-104 with a 4.38 ERA in nine-plus seasons with Chicago. "He's been a tremendous teammate," said Hahn, who praised Danks for fighting back from a shoulder injury. "At the end of the day, this is about putting us in the best position to win ballgames going forward."

LHP John Danks was designated for assignment on Tuesday. Danks, 31, was winless in 2016, allowing 18 earned runs in 22 1/3 innings and had a 7.25 ERA. Erik Johnson will replace Danks in the starting rotation. Danks has been with the White Sox for his entire 10-year career and is in the final year of a five-year, $65 million contract. LHP John Danks is still trying to find a way out of his slump. He's 0-7 over his last seven starts dating back to last season after one bad inning caused him to allow six runs overall in a 10-2 loss to the Orioles on Thursday. He's allowed at least five runs in three of his four starts and is looking for answers. "It's been a pretty miserable April," he said. "It's been frustrating."

LHP John Danks will make his fourth start of the season Thursday in the opener of a four-game series against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards. He has lost his past six starts dating to Sept. 20 and has a 6.21 ERA in that span. He took the loss April 21 when he allowed two runs and five hits in six innings in a game won 3-2 by the Angels. He is 6-5 with a 3.90 ERA in 13 career starts against the Orioles. He is 1-2 with a 4.25 ERA in five outings at Camden Yards.

--LHP John Danks (0-3) gave up two runs on five hits, struck out two, walked five and threw 100 pitches over six innings Thursday. "He was bobbing and weaving all day," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. "I don't know if his control was all that great. He gets served with the homer, but he was able to find his way out of it and get out of some jams." Danks tied Gary Peters for sixth place on the White Sox all-time strikeout list (1,098) and is four starts away from tying Richard Dotson for 10th most in White Sox history (250).

LHP John Danks (0-2, 7.94 ERA) wraps up the series and home stand on Thursday as he makes his third start of the season and second at home. LHP John Danks allowed seven runs, five of which were earned, in five innings Friday against Cleveland. Danks gave up eight hits, walked one and struck out six. He fell to 0-6 in his last eight starts against the Indians.

LHP John Danks entered the game Monday with an 11-inning scoreless inning streak, but that ended when the Rockies scored a run in the first. In the third, Danks surrendered three consecutive homers to Charlie Blackmon, Trevor Story and Carlos Gonzalez."Couple of bad pitches, other than that I felt good," Danks said. He rebounded to retire 12 of the final 13 batters he faced, making it through six innings, throwing 96 pitches and striking out five.

Danks (7-15) struggled on Thursday, allowing six runs on 11 hits and three walks while striking out two in a 6-4 loss to the Royals.

It was an ugly outing for Danks, as he drew just two swinging strikes in his 92 pitches. Danks had not allowed more than three runs in his previous six starts and the regression is a bit disappointing to see in his final start of the season. Although this was in Kansas City, it's hard to be a flyball pitcher in a park like Cellular Field and Danks will need to adjust that a bit if he wants to avoid having outings like this next season.

Danks took the loss Saturday despite recording a quality start, allowing two runs on six hits and three walks over six innings while striking out five.

The White Sox hitters couldn't solve Adam Warren, otherwise Danks might have been better rewarded for his efforts. His final start of the season is scheduled for the season's final day, as he takes on the Tigers at home next Saturday.

Danks took a no decision Monday against Oakland as he allowed three runs on three hits and three walks over seven innings. He struck out six.

It was a rollercoaster start for Danks, whose three hits allowed Monday were all solo home runs. Danks has now allowed 23 home runs on the season, but he has three consecutive quality starts now and has allowed just six runs in his past 22 innings (2.45 ERA) with a 16:4 K:BB. Danks is weirdly on fire, but it's hard to expect him and his 4.56 ERA to keep this level up through the end of the year.

Danks is no longer scheduled to pitch this weekend, the Chicago Tribune's Colleen Kane reports.

He was anticipated to stick in the rotation for his scheduled start Friday against the Twins, but Erik Johnson will now get the start that day with Chris Sale moving up take the ball Sunday. The White Sox have a doubleheader on Sept. 21, meaning they will need to go back to a six-man rotation before then, so odds are Danks will make at least one start next week.

Danks (7-12) went the distance on Friday, giving up one run on seven hits and a walk while striking out five in a win over Kansas City.

Where did that come from? After going 0-3 in his last three starts, giving up 13 runs in 18 innings, Danks pitched a gem on Friday. Despite an otherwise mediocre season is he worth putting on your radar to see if lightning strikes twice? No.

Danks (6-12) gave up two runs on seven hits while striking out five over six innings in Friday's loss to the Mariners.

Though providing a significant improvement from Sunday's woeful performance, Danks fell to the home run on Friday, giving up solo shots to Kyle Seager and Franklin Gutierrez in the sixth for the only runs of the game. Danks has kept the ball in the yard better than he has in past seasons, but has now surrendered five in his past three starts. With mediocre-at-best numbers across the board, Danks should not be on your radar for the remainder of the season.

Danks allowed seven runs on eight hits and three walks Sunday against the Mariners to take his 11th loss of the season.

Danks has been a bit on-and-off the past few months. He has five starts since July 1 in which he has allowed one run or fewer, but he also has four starts in that span in which he has allowed five runs or more. It would not be surprising to see him yield a few September starts to some of the team's minor league pitchers.
