Tue Jun 23 201512:01Nix released by Phillies
Nix has been released by the Phillies, Matt Provence of the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs' Media Department reports.
The 32-year-old Nix has struggled at the Triple-A level in both the Baltimore and Philadelphia organizations this season, posting a .162/.196/.222 combined slash line over 195 plate appearances. He fared even worse in 91 big-league plate appearances between three teams last season, finishing with a .120/.169/.157 slash line. Outside of versatility and experience, Nix doesn't seem to have much left to offer.

Going to the Phillies at least increases Nix's chance of reaching the majors, considering how shallow they could be in the infield. However, Nix hasn't exactly impressed in the minors during 2015, hitting .167/.190/.198 in Triple-A. He'll try to improve at the Phillies' affiliate in Lehigh.
Fri Apr 3 201522:53Nix reassigned to minor league camp Friday
Nix was reassigned to minor league camp Friday, MLB.com reports.
Nix did not show enough this spring to break camp with the big club, so his season will begin with Triple-A Norfolk. He is expected to play a utility role in the minors and could be an option for the Orioles at some point this season.
Tue Feb 17 201516:52Nix and Orioles have agreed to contract
Nix and the Orioles have agreed to a contract, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.
Nix will likely be a non-roster invitee to spring training, after spending last season with three organizations. He offers experience and solid defense at multiple infield positions, but his .212/.282/.345 career slash line speaks for itself. Nix will hope to make the Opening Day roster as a utility infielder.
Mon Nov 24 201414:02Nix declined assignment to Triple-A Omaha on Monday and now free...
Nix declined an assignment to Triple-A Omaha on Monday and is now a free agent, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports.
Nix was part of the Royals' roster that lost the World Series to the Giants, but he didn't play much of a role and was just an added roster spot. In fact, the 32-year-old hit just .120/.168/.157 with a home run and four RBI over 83 at-bats between the Royals, Phillies and Pirates last season. Despite his down year, he will test the free agent waters this offseason in an attempt to latch on to a big league roster, most likely as a bench player.

Nix will replace Christian Colon on the Royals' World Series roster, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports.
Nix, who appeared in the Wild Card Game win over Oakland, was not a member of the ALDS or ALCS roster. The 32-year-old hit just .120/.169/.157 in 41 games between Kansas City and Pittsburgh this season, but he'll replace the 25-year-old Colon as an extra veteran on the World Series roster.

Nix was not included on the Royals' ALDS roster, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports.
Nix came off the bench during Tuesday's AL Wild Card game, striking out with the winning run at third base in his lone at-bat. The 32-year-old appeared in 41 games between Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Kansas City during the regular season, batting just .120/.169/.157 with one extra-base hit in 91 plate appearances.
Sat Aug 30 201412:46Nix activated to Royals' active roster Saturday
Nix was activated to the Royals' active roster Saturday.
The Royals had to activate Nix or else their waiver claim of him from the Pirates would be negated. Christian Colon was optioned to Double-A Northwest Arkansas in a corresponding move. Nix may very well see a start or two at second base this weekend with Omar Infante (shoulder) ailing, but he's hit just .133/.188/.173 in 82 plate appearances at the major league level this season.

Nix was designated for assignment by Pittsburgh on Monday, but he's back on a 40-man roster and should assume a bench role with Kansas City no later than next week. Now 32, Nix has hit just .133/.188/.173 at the major league level this season but can play all around the diamond.

With Clint Barmes (groin) returning from the DL on Monday, Nix was DFA'd to clear room on the roster. The veteran has appeared in 16 games for the Pirates after signing earlier this month and is hitting just .111 with four strikeouts in 36 at-bats.
Thu Aug 14 201410:51Nix out of lineup Thursday against Tigers
Nix is out of the lineup Thursday against the Tigers, Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune reports.
Nix has started five of six games since joining the club, but will give way to Michael Martinez at the keystone Thursday. He's 4-for-28 at the dish with one RBI since his arrival, and remains in search of his first extra-base hit with his new team.
Sun Aug 3 201412:36Nix signed with Pirates on Sunday
Nix signed with the Pirates on Sunday, and will be added to the 40-man roster, MLB.com reports.
With Josh Harrison turning into an everyday player in recent weeks, the Pirates were lacking a utility man off their bench, a role Nix will be tabbed to fill. He's capable of playing second, shortstop and third base, but probably won't see much playing time outside of late-inning defensive replacement duties.

Fri Mar 28 201420:49Jayson Nix on Phillies' radar if cut by Rays
CSN Philly's Jim Salisbury said Jayson Nix is "very much" on the Phillies' radar if he doesn't break camp with the Rays.
Nix has an out clause if he's not put on the 25-man roster to begin the season, so he'd likely use it if he believes he could get a major league job with the Phillies. Nix batted .236/.308/.311 with the Yankees in 2013 but has been a useful bench player in the past.

Thu Jan 9 201413:59Rays sign Jayson Nix to minor league deal
Rays signed INF Jayson Nix to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Nix was non-tendered by the Yankees in December after batting just .236/.308/.311 across 303 plate appearances in 2013. He does have some speed and defensive versatility, but the 31-year-old will have to battle for a roster spot this spring in Rays camp.

Yankees non-tendered INF Jayson Nix.
With Brendan Ryan and Eduardo Nunez around to back up Derek Jeter, there was no longer room on the roster for Nix. With defensive versatility and a little bit of speed and pop, Nix shouldn't have trouble landing a utility job elsewhere.

Sat Nov 30 201313:27Jayson Nix a candidate to be non-tendered
Chad Jennings of LoHud.com believes that Jayson Nix is a strong candidate to be non-tendered.
With the Yankees re-signing Brendan Ryan to function in a utility role, and Eduardo Nunez already on the roster, there just doesn't seem to be room for the 31-year-old Nix. His speed and defensive versatility should allow him to compete for a bench spot elsewhere should the Yankees indeed decide to move on.
