Peterson will miss the rest of the season with a strained Achilles, ProspectInsider.com's Jason Churchill reports.
The injury came right after Peterson was promoted to Triple-A, but he was still unlikely to be a September call-up with the Mariners out of contention. Peterson has had a brutal year at the plate, and will need to have a big bounce-back season in 2016 to regain his status as a top-100 prospect for dynasty leagues.

Peterson was promoted to Triple-A Tacoma on July 29 but was then placed on the disabled list with an undisclosed injury on Aug. 4.
While it is unclear what the injury is, Peterson was in the midst of a pretty horrible season, so it was not likely that he would receive a September call up. Peterson's pedigree as a bat-first corner infielder may make him difficult to cut the cord on in deeper dynasty leagues, but his stock is definitely way down.

Peterson, 23, is batting .219/.288/.342 with six home runs, 40 RBI and five steals through 83 games for Double-A Jackson.
Peterson has been a bit better lately, hitting .279 with one home run and eight RBI over his last 10 contests. However, he has also fanned eight times over that span, and continues to struggle to make consistent contact.

Peterson is slashing .211/.284/.298 with just two home runs in 190 plate appearances with Double-A Jackson.
It is a bit surprising to see Peterson struggle so much at the plate this year with the Generals, as he was impressive in 58 games at Double-A to close out the 2014 season. Last season in just 58 more plate appearances with Jackson the 23-year-old corner infielder hit 13 home runs -- 11 more than he has hit so far this season. There is not a big enough sample size or enough information to draw any significant conclusions from Peterson's struggles this season, but his prospect stock is certainly trending down.
