ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Elvis Andrus is staying with the Rangers after the shortstop passed up on a second chance to opt out of his contract and become a free agent.Andrus has $43 million and three years left on his contract in Texas.He just completed his 11th season with the Rangers. The 31-year-old shortstop is the team's longest-tenured player, and the only player remaining from their only two World Series appearances in 2010 and 2011.Andrus hit .275 with 12 homers, 72 RBIs and 31 stolen bases in 147 games this year. He is a .275 career hitter with 73 homers and a team-record 302 stolen bases.He also had the opportunity to opt out after the 2018 season, when he was limited to 97 games because of a fractured right elbow. C Tim Federowicz hit his first home run as a member of the Giants in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals. The six-year veteran was promoted from Triple-A Sacramento when rosters expanded on Sept. 1. The homer was the fifth of his career.

C Tim Federowicz had his contract purchased from Triple-A Sacramento on Friday when major-league rosters expanded. The 30-year-old got one previous shot with the Giants this season, going 0-for-2 with a walk in an April 13 start against Colorado. He batted .300 with nine home runs and 43 RBIs in 77 games at Sacramento. He did not play in Friday's 11-6 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.

C Tim Federowicz was designated for assignment to make roster room for C Buster Posey. Federowicz had his contract purchased on April 11 from Triple-A Sacramento. He made one start, going 0-for-2 with a walk. He has appeared in 108 games in the majors with the Dodgers, Cubs and Giants. The Giants put 24-year-old RHP Clayton Blackburn on the designated for assignment list to make room for Federowicz. They ended up dealing Blackburn to the Rangers, a steep price to pay for a week of a backup catcher.

C Tim Federowicz made his first start Thursday in a loss to the Colorado Rockies. Summoned from Triple-A when C Buster Posey went on the seven-day concussion disabled list, Federowicz walked and popped out in the 3-0 loss. He was replaced for a pinch hitter in the eighth inning. He's now 0-for-2 as a Giant.
