Thu May 8 2014 | 10:18 | Derek Fisher suffer shoulder injury Wednesday |
Derek Fisher's status is uncertain after he suffered a shoulder injury during Wednesday's Game 2 win over the Clippers. |
Thunder head coach Scott Brooks said Fisher's status is uncertain after the 39-year-old suffered a shoulder injury during Wednesday's Game 2 victory. He's only averaging 14.0 minutes per game in the series, but brings a stabilizing veteran presence to the Thunder. We'll update his status for Friday's Game 3 as more information becomes available, but Reggie Jackson would be in line for more minutes Fisher is unable to suit up. |

Sun Apr 13 2014 | 16:58 | Derek Fisher plays 15 minutes vs. Indiana |
Derek Fisher played 15 minutes vs. the Pacers on Sunday, failing to score with one rebound and one assist. |
He could be looking at a start on Monday night with Russell Westbrook already ruled out and Reggie Jackson (neck) up in the air. Obviously, Fisher is more of a desperation play in fantasy leagues, but he could hit a couple triples and score in the low double-digits. |

Mon Apr 7 2014 | 00:19 | Derek Fisher starts second half at SG |
Derek Fisher moved into the starting lineup for the second half of Sunday's game vs. Phoenix, and he finished with five points and three assists in 27 minutes. |
It's hard to get fired up about a 39-year-old guard who is shooting 39.7 percent from the field this season. His chunk of playing time led to just five minutes for Andre Roberson and eight minutes for Jeremy Lamb. It seems coach Scott Brooks has minimal interest in expanding roles for his younger players while the Thunder gear up for the playoffs. |

Sun Feb 23 2014 | 15:48 | Derek Fisher matches season high in loss |
Derek Fisher matched his season-high 15 points on Sunday with four boards, two steals and five 3-pointers. |
His strong effort was a bit of a gift and a curse for the Thunder as coach Scott Brooks was drawing up plays for Fisher late in the game instead of going with the best offensive player on the planet. His minutes haven't really changed much even with Russell Westbrook coming back and he's obviously not an option in almost any league. |

Wed Jan 29 2014 | 22:12 | Derek Fisher hits five treys in win over Heat |
Derek Fisher hit 5-of-5 3-pointers (and missed his two other shots) to finish with 15 points, three rebounds, an assist and a steal in Wednesday's impressive win over the Heat. |
The last time Fisher did anything relevant enough to get a news blurb from us was Jan. 5, which is probably all you need to know. He was averaging just 7.0 points, 2.0 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.5 3-pointers in the month of January, which just isn't enough from the elder statesman. |

Sun Jan 5 2014 | 00:35 | Derek Fisher plays 25 minutes vs. Wolves |
Derek Fisher played 25 minutes for 13 points, two boards, four assists and three 3-pointers in Saturday's win over the Timberwolves. |
Some things are just inevitable. Coach Scott Brooks is back to playing Derek Fisher big minutes after he logged 23 against the Nets on Thursday. Fisher has put himself on the radar in deeper leagues while Russell Westbrook has been out, averaging 6.0 points, 1.2 boards, 2.2 assists, 0.4 steals and 1.2 triples. If you want to pick him up in your very deep league, we promise not to tell anyone. |

Tue Dec 31 2013 | 22:56 | Derek Fisher plays 19 minutes vs. Blazers |
Derek Fisher played 19 minutes vs. the Blazers on Tuesday with four points, two boards, three assists and one turnover on 1-of-4 shooting. |
For whatever reason, coach Scott Brooks seems to love Derek Fisher and he's played his 39-year-old veteran 17.7 minutes per game in his three games without Russell Westbrook. Those 17.7 minutes per game could go to Jeremy Lamb, Thabo Sefolosha, Reggie Jackson or even Perry Jones, but this has been an issue for Brooks in the last three season. His age is higher than his field goal percentage of 34.5 this season. |

Fri Jul 26 2013 | 14:21 | Derek Fisher intends to retire after season |
A source tells ESPN Los Angeles that Derek Fisher intends to retire after the 2013-14 season. |
Fisher, 38, signed a one-year contract with the Thunder on Wednesday. He'll earn $1.4 million. Ideally, Fisher will serve as a player/coach this season, providing veteran leadership and teaching points to Russell Westbrook and Reggie Jackson. If Fisher has to play anything near the 23.7 minutes a night he played in the postseason, the Thunder are in trouble. He's been a liability on the floor for years now. |

Thu Jul 25 2013 | 10:10 | NBA will pay portion of Derek Fisher's salary |
The NBA will reimburse the Thunder $515K of Derek Fisher's one-year, $1.4 million contract. |
This is for the teams signing players that have been in the NBA at least three years with minimum salaries for one year. This discount also doesn't hurt OKC's cap number, so they will remain under the luxury tax. Reggie Jackson is still expected to make a leap as the sixth man this year, so we're hoping Scott Brooks doesn't stunt his growth by giving Derek Fisher some of his minutes. |

Wed Jul 24 2013 | 18:15 | Reports: Thunder re-signing vet Derek Fisher |
The Thunder will re-sign veteran point guard Derek Fisher to a one-year contract worth the veteran's minimum, according to multiple media outlets. |
This is Fisher's third stint with the Thunder. Coach Scott Brooks is a fan of Fisher as OKC's third point guard and provides decent insurance against Reggie Jackson's possibly regression this season. The 38-year old averaged 4.1 points in just over 14 minutes per game last season. |

Sat Jul 6 2013 | 02:57 | Thunder and Derek Fisher have mutual interest |
The Thunder and Derek Fisher have mutual interest in reaching a deal. |
Scott Brooks is still the coach, so it's not a surprise that the Thunder are looking at Fisher as their third guard. He played 23.7 minutes per game in the postseason, which is surprisingly just a shade below his career average of 25.9. Of course, Russell Westbrook being out was a factor here. Reggie Jackson really came into his own last year and hopefully the Thunder will allow him more opportunities next season. |

Thu May 16 2013 | 14:59 | Derek Fisher says he would like to return |
Derek Fisher said Thursday wants to play next season and would like to return to the Thunder. |
Fisher was signed by the Thunder to provide backcourt depth after the trade of Eric Maynor to Portland. However, the emergence of Reggie Jackson as the primary backup to Russell Westbrook largely limited Fisher's impact down the stretch. Once Westbrook went down with a season-ending injury, Fisher consistently played between 24 and 30 minutes a night, which if way too much for a player of high age and diminishing ability. It's hard to see a role for Fisher on the Thunder next season assuming Westbrook is ready for the start of the season, but he might be able to offer veteran depth to another team looking for a backup guard. |

Wed Apr 17 2013 | 23:16 | Derek Fisher plays on Wednesday |
Derek Fisher played on Wednesday and had seven points in 17 minutes. |
He was supposedly ruled out for this one, but played through a sore left foot in order to get ready for the playoffs. |

Wed Apr 17 2013 | 12:29 | Derek Fisher will not play on Wednesday night |
Derek Fisher (foot) has been ruled out of Wednesday's season finale. |
This just means more minutes for Reggie Jackson as Fisher looks to get his health right for the postseason. |

Tue Apr 16 2013 | 08:17 | Derek Fisher unlikely to play on Wednesday |
Derek Fisher (sore left foot) is likely to sit out the final game of the regular season vs. Milwaukee on Wednesday. |
Fisher didn't play on Monday due to a new issue deemed "left foot soreness," but it isn't expected to be serious. OKC will prepare to give a healthy Fisher playoff minutes that he really doesn't deserve, but it would take something drastic for Scott Brooks to shake up his rotations and he's a noted Fisher fan. Reggie Jackson should play plenty in the season's concluding game. |

Mon Apr 15 2013 | 19:25 | Derek Fisher (foot) out for Monday's game |
Derek Fisher (left foot soreness) will not play against the Kings on Monday. |
This is a new issue and the 38-year-old guard has stayed relatively healthy. Scott Brooks used Fisher a ton in the postseason last year, so he appears to want him healthy. Jeremy Lamb could get his most action of his career tonight. |

Fri Apr 5 2013 | 00:48 | Derek Fisher scores 17 points with five 3s |
Derek Fisher shot 6-of-8 from the field for 17 points with five 3-pointer during Thursday's 100-88 win over the Spurs. |
He did all of this damage in 15 minutes and shot 5-of-7 from downtown. Obviously, 15 minutes isn't going to do much for his fantasy value and it's a mild surprise to see him get more than five minutes with the improved play of Reggie Jackson (three points, three assists, two blocks and one 3-pointer in 14 minutes). |

Fri Mar 8 2013 | 21:20 | Derek Fisher scores 13 points vs. Charlotte |
Derek Fisher got got against the Bobcats on Friday, shooting 5-of-6 from the field for 13 points with three rebounds, one assist and three 3-pointers. |
He played 14 minutes and the Bobcats left him wide open on multiple 3-point attempts. Fisher will be a liability on defense, so he won't see enough playing time to be a factor in fantasy leagues. |

Thu Mar 7 2013 | 23:05 | Derek Fisher plays 15 minutes against NYK |
Derek Fisher played 15 minutes against the Knicks on Thursday and had no points, two boards, no assists one steal and one turnover. |
Amare Stoudemire had a chase-down block on Fisher and it's a little surprising to see coach Scott Brooks give Fisher that much playing time. Reggie Jackson (eight points on 3-of-5 shooting in 12 minutes) is playing very well and there's very little reason to put Fisher on the floor with a team that leads the NBA in offensive efficiency. He has no fantasy value. |

Thu Feb 28 2013 | 00:21 | Derek Fisher scoreless in Thunder debut |
Derek Fisher made his Thunder debut on Wednesday and missed all four of his shots, failing to score and handing out two assists in 21 minutes. |
He'll get some run off the bench, but is in OKC as a locker room leader, and not a fantasy hoops prospect. |
