Aybar, 27, was a useful utilityman for the Rays this year, but his option money wasn't worth the production. He finished with a .230/309/.344 batting line, six homers and 43 RBI over 270 at-bats in 2010. |

J.B. Long of Bright House Sports Network passed along a report by Tim Kurkjian of ESPN.com that the Rays have filed an injury petition and are attempting to add Willy Aybar to the ALDS roster. |
Interesting. The early speculation is that Aybar would replace Rocco Baldelli on the ALDS roster, but we probably won't know anything until the clubhouse opens. Stay tuned. |

Willy Aybar hit a walkoff home run in a 3-2 win over the Mariners on Saturday. |
He led off the top of the ninth inning with a solo blast to right-center field off right-hander Jesus Colome. Aybar started as the designated hitter against the lefty Jason Vargas on Saturday, but the newly-added Hank Blalock figures to see most of the playing time against right-handers going forward. |

Aybar has been given clearance to fly to St. Petersburg, Florida and will be allowed to return whenever he feels ready. The utilityman is 2-for-16 this season with a home run, a double and two RBI. |
