Wed Mar 21 2012 | 09:01 | Pirates reassigned four to minor league camp |
Pirates reassigned RHP Daniel Cabrera and Tim Wood, 1B Jeff Clement and OF Brandon Boggs to minor league camp. |
No surprises here. Cabrera made just one appearance this spring due to forearm tightness while Clement and Boggs went a combined 2-for-29. Wood allowed one run over 3 2/3 innings during Grapefruit League play. |

Daniel Cabrera (forearm) threw 15 pitches during batting practice Thursday. |
Cabrera has been slowed this spring due to forearm tightness, but he's tentatively scheduled to throw one inning in a B-game on Saturday. The 30-year-old right-hander is a non-roster invite with the Pirates this spring after missing the entire 2011 season following Tommy John surgery. |

Daniel Cabrera was scratched from Fridays' intersquad game due to tightness in his right forearm. |
Cabrera, who signed a minor league deal with the Pirates last month, sat out of the entire 2011 season following Tommy John surgery. He has a 5.10 ERA over 892 major-league innings, so he's a long shot to make the team even if you put his health aside. |

Fri Jan 27 2012 | 22:54 | Pirates sign RHP Cabrera to minors deal |
Pirates signed RHP Daniel Cabrera to a minor league contract. |
It's not clear if the deal includes a spring training invite. Cabrera, now 31 years old, sat out the entire 2011 season following Tommy John surgery. The hard-throwing right-hander hasn't pitched in the big leagues since 2009 as a member of the Diamondbacks and owns an ugly 5.10 ERA for his career, so our expectations are pretty low. |

Fri Nov 4 2011 | 08:58 | Daniel Cabrera to pitch in winter ball |
Daniel Cabrera (elbow) will pitch in the Dominican Winter League this winter. |
Cabrera underwent Tommy John surgery a year ago and sat out the entire 2011 season. The erratic flamethrower is just 30, so someone will likely be willing to give him a spring training invite if he shows he's healthy. Cabrera's agent, Mike Powers, said his client prefers to start. "The goal has always been to be a starter," Powers said. "Depending on how he reacts to the surgery, it remains his preference to be a starter." |

Angels minor leaguer Daniel Cabrera walked four batters in less than an inning of work Sunday at Triple-A Salt Lake. |
Cabrera has posted a 10.12 ERA and a 1.75 WHIP in eight innings for the Salt Lake Bees since inking a minor league contract with the Angels in mid-June. He has fanned five batters but also issued five walks. The 29-year-old is a longshot to ever contribute again at the big league level. |

Fri Jun 11 2010 | 11:14 | Angels sign Daniel Cabrera to minors deal |
Angels signed RHP Daniel Cabrera to a minor league contract. |
Cabrera was given his release by the White Sox during spring training. The 29-year-old right-hander was 0-6 with a 6.00 ERA and 1.98 WHIP in nine starts and six relief appearances between the Nationals and Diamondbacks last season. There's just not a lot to like about Cabrera at this point, especially if he can't find the velocity he lost last season. |
