Fri Oct 28 201108:37Vikings dumped Bernard because he didn't care
According to ESPN 1500 Twin Cities, Bernard Berrian was released by the Vikings because not only did he not care about improving, he never even feigned interest in the team.
It wasn't just that Berrian missed team meetings and gave little effort on the field. He also had a reputation for being more interested in "fashion and celebrity status" than football. A former teammate said he'd be willing to bet that Berrian didn't even know the names of several teammates. Even if teams were willing to overlook Berrian's declining athleticism, his attitude is a major turnoff.

Wed Oct 26 201117:49WR Berrian clears waivers, now a free agent
Former Vikings WR Bernard Berrian went unclaimed on waivers, and is now a free agent.
Unsurprisingly, no one was interested in picking up the remainder of Berrian's 2011 salary after he made just seven catches for 91 yards in five games for the Vikings. He should draw more interest on the open market with the Vikings now on the hook for the rest of the salary, but his odds of coming into any fantasy value down the stretch are nil.

Wed Oct 26 201112:27Bears not interested in bringing back Berrian
Bears GM Jerry Angelo said he isn't interested in bringing back free agent WR Bernard Berrian.
Berrian was drafted by the Bears in the third round of the 2004 draft and caught 150 balls for them over four seasons. But an unprofessional attitude combined with highly unproductive play means a reunion isn't happening. The Bears appear content to roll with Devin Hester and Roy Williams as their starting wideouts.

Tue Oct 25 201112:33Vikings part ways with WR Bernard Berrian
Vikings released WR Bernard Berrian.
Berrian's off-field antics far outweighed his on-field production. He was a healthy scratch in Week 5 for missing meetings and was inactive again last Sunday. When in uniform, Berrian was among the least productive receivers in the NFL, catching just seven passes for 91 yards in five games despite seeing 23 targets. The Vikings will go forward with Percy Harvin, Michael Jenkins and Devin Aromashodu as their top three wideouts.

Mon Oct 24 201116:07Decision on Berrian's status expected Tuesday
Embattled Vikings WR Bernard Berrian met with coach Leslie Frazier Monday, and a decision on his future with the team is expected by Tuesday.
Berrian has declined to go into detail about why he was a healthy scratch Sunday, but Frazier claimed Monday the move was not made for disciplinary reasons. With just seven catches for 91 yards in five games, it seems more likely than not the Vikings will decide Berrian isn't worth the headache and grant him his walking papers.

Mon Oct 24 201111:44Frazier not ready to address Berrian
Vikings coach Leslie Frazier says Bernard Berrian's Sunday deactivation was not for disciplinary reasons.
"(It was) just a decision that I made that we'll probably get into later on in the week," Frazier said. Berrian's deactivation came just one week after he caught a season-high five passes against the Bears. It's looking increasingly possible that Berrian has played his final game in a Vikings uniform.

Sun Oct 23 201120:18Berrian's days with Vikings are numbered
Bernard Berrian, a healthy scratch for Week 7, hinted after Sunday's game that his days with the Vikings are numbered.
Berrian's name was originally on the lineup card only to be scratched out and replaced by Michael Jenkins. Neither Berrian nor coach Leslie Frazier would divulge the reasons for his benching, but all Vikings beat writers walked away from a post-game session with Berrian believing he would be released in the near future. He's certainly not worth the headache at 18 yards per game.

Sun Oct 23 201116:45Berrian being disciplined again in Week 7?
Bernard Berrian told FOX's Pam Oliver Sunday that he's been "led to believe" his latest benching was again the result of infractions against team rules.
Berrian refused to go into detail, telling Oliver that he's not allowed to discuss the discipline. His first benching two weeks ago was the results of missed meetings, questioning his role, and getting into a spat on Twitter. The Vikings are better off with Devin Aromashodu starting anyway.

Sun Oct 23 201114:46Bernard Berrian inactive for Vikes in Week 7
Vikings declared Bernard Berrian inactive for Week 7 against the Packers.
Berrian isn't known to be injured. It looks like the Vikes have moved on to Devin Aromashodu to go with the changing of the guard at quarterback. With Chris Cook (arrest), Antoine Winfield (neck), and Jamarca Sanford (concussion) out, the Vikes are without three of four starters in the secondary against the best passing attack in the NFL. Also out for the Vikes: C John Sullivan, OL DeMarcus Love, and DL D'Aundre Reed.

Tue Oct 18 201109:36Bernard Berrian played 39 snaps
Bernard Berrian played 39 snaps in Sunday night's loss to the Bears.
That's 10 more snaps than Percy Harvin, for those keeping score at home. Berrian actually played his best game of the year, but still managed to embarrass himself with a horrible drop on a third-down play early in the game. Regardless, the Vikings obviously have no interest in benching Berrian and promoting Devin Aromashodu (21 snaps).

Mon Oct 17 201100:06Berrian shows up with five catches, 54 yards
Bernard Berrian had five receptions for 54 yards in the Vikings' Week 6 loss to the Bears.
Leslie Frazier continues to stay committed to Berrian despite the plethora of reasons not to. With just two catches for 37 yards entering tonight and backup-quality talent, Berrian should be nowhere near fantasy lineups. Devin Aromashodu was invisible tonight with just two targets and nothing to show for it in the box score.

Thu Oct 13 201108:21Bernard Berrian says he's in good standing
Bernard Berrian said Wednesday he believes he's in good standing with the Vikings.
Berrian was benched last week for missing Saturday meetings. He has also been among the league's least productive receivers on the field and got into an ugly Twitter spat with a Minnesota lawmaker. Still, the Vikings are continuing to show confidence in him. Desperate owners can't trust Devin Aromashodu, who had 81 yards in Berrian's absence last week.

Mon Oct 10 201113:44Vikings still have confidence in Berrian
Vikings coach Leslie Frazier insisted Monday that he still has confidence in Bernard Berrian after benching the wide deceiver in Sunday's win over Arizona.
"We fully expect Bernard to help our football team, be successful in 2011 and look forward to him making a major contribution," said Frazier. Berrian was benched for missing Saturday meetings, but his performance is just as much of an issue. He shouldn't be more than a role player off the bench going forward.

Mon Oct 10 201109:05Report: Berrian missed two meetings Saturday
Bernard Berrian was deactivated yesterday because he missed two team meetings Saturday, a source tells the Pioneer Press.
Coach Leslie Frazier said Berrian's benching had nothing to do with his Twitter spat involving a state lawmaker last week. "It was a disciplinary decision by me," Frazier said. Considering his brutal on-field play, Berrian is in no position to be missing meetings. The Vikings should consider rolling with Devin Aromashodu as their No. 3 wideout going forward.

Thu Sep 29 201121:38Vikes want Berrian more involved in offense
Vikings coaches are "pleased" with Bernard Berrian and are "trying" to get him more involved in the offense.
Yikes. Berrian has one reception on 10 targets and 132 snaps this season. The alleged deep threat has averaged a scant 10.56 yards per catch since the beginning of the 2009 season. This Vikings coaching staff has been the most overmatched in the league through three weeks, and Musgraves is the primary culprit. Early signs suggest he can't figure out how to maximize his personnel or make in-game adjustments.

Tue Sep 27 201112:53Berrian wasting space on the field
Bernard Berrian played 49 snaps in Sunday's loss to the Lions and did not record a catch.
Berrian is a waste of space at the split end position. Even though Donovan McNabb is in rapid decline, the Vikings have done him no favors in terms of weapons. Devin Aromashodu should start eating into Berrian's snaps.

Sun Sep 25 201118:48Berrian held without a catch in Week 3
Bernard Berrian was held without a catch against the Lions in Week 3.
Even Devin Aromashodu caught a pass this week. Berrian now has just one grab for 17 yards in three games this year. He's not sniffing the fantasy radar.

Tue Sep 13 201111:52Same old Bernard Berrian
Beat writer Tom Pelissero notes that Bernard Berrian "didn't put up much of a fight" for a couple passes that came his way in the opener.
Berrian finished the day without a catch. "New year, same old Bernard Berrian," says Pelissero. The Vikings did no favors for a rapidly declining Donovan McNabb by giving him Berrian and Michael Jenkins as "weapons." This passing game will get better, but still projects as among the worst in the league.

Sun Aug 28 201119:57Berrian's role increasing this season
Vikings OC Bill Musgrave has made it a point of emphasis to ensure that Bernard Berrian doesn't get marginalized this year as he did last season.
Brett Favre froze Berrian out of the offense last season after losing trust in him. Berrian has already developed a better rapport with Donovan McNabb, highlighted by two catches for 64 yards and a TD in the first half of Saturday's game. We still view Berrian as a player to watch as a potential waiver addition rather than a late-round flier.
