Thu Apr 17 201419:28Police confirm McNabb spent daily in jail
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Department confirms Donovan McNabb spent one day in jail as part of a plea agreement stemming from a December DUI arrest.
"I have had other high profile athletes who have been incarcerated with no problems and this latest athlete follows that same pattern," the sheriff said. What remains unclear is how the entire episode flew under the radar for nearly half a year. Either way, it's now in the past for McNabb, who appears poised to keep his multiple jobs in the media.

Thu Apr 17 201416:26Report: McNabb arrested for DUI in January
TMZ reports Donovan McNabb was arrested for DUI in January, and agreed to serve one day in jail as part of a plea agreement.
That explains the mugshot, but doesn't explain how the news was kept under wraps for three months. It's also unclear if the matter is resolved or ongoing. Out of the league since 2011, McNabb officially retired in September. It's his first-known brush with the law.

Mon May 13 201321:05Donovan McNabb to retire as an Eagle in Sept.
Free agent Donovan McNabb announced on his NBC Sports Radio show that he will retire as a member of the Eagles in September.
McNabb, 36, says the team has suggested having the ceremony on September 19, when Andy Reid and the Chiefs come to town for a Thursday night game. McNabb hasn't played in a game since he started six games for the Vikings in 2011. He has since moved on to NFL Network as an analyst. McNabb played 11 seasons with the Eagles, leading them to six division titles, five NFC Championship games, and one Super Bowl appearance. He completed 59 percent of his passes for 37,276 yards, 234 touchdowns, and 117 interceptions. McNabb also ran for 29 scores, finishing with a respectable 85.6 QB rating.

Mon Jan 28 201317:30McNabb hints he's all but retired
Although he's yet to officially retire, Donovan McNabb says he's focusing on his media career.
An analyst for NFL Network, McNabb announced Monday he's also signed a radio deal with NBC Sports. ESPN's Sal Paolantonio hinted earlier this month that McNabb could reunite with Andy Reid in Kansas City, but McNabb says it's not happening. "I'm focusing on perfecting what I'm doing right now, and that's working (in media)." McNabb turned 36 in November.

Wed Jan 2 201319:28McNabb to Arizona a possibility?
Speaking in a Wednesday radio interview, ESPN's Sal Paolantonio floated the idea that Andy Reid could sign free agent Donovan McNabb as a back-up if he lands in Arizona.
"Reid had to be talked into trading McNabb to Washington by (GM) Howie Roseman, kicking and screaming," Paolantonio reasoned. "I'm just warning you, don't be surprised if it happens." Paolantonio - a highly-respected reporter - appears to be more thinking out loud than suggesting McNabb to Arizona is a distinct possibility, but it's still fascinating. McNabb, of course, spent 2012 on the couch. We would say it would be a terrible idea, but then again, Arizona is the same franchise that's given Max Hall, Derek Anderson, Ryan Lindley, John Skelton and Brian Hoyer starts in recent seasons.

Wed Aug 15 201208:52Report: McNabb would play if right team calls
Free agent Donovan McNabb would reportedly consider a return to the NFL "if the right team called."
CBS Sports' Jason LaCanfora suggests the Cardinals and 49ers as potential landing spots. Even though McNabb lives in Arizona, the team has never shown interest. The Niners have no need for his services. Rotoworld heard from a reliable source last month that McNabb had ballooned well beyond his playing weight this summer. It's hard to imagine him playing meaningful snaps for any team in 2012.

Fri Jun 29 201208:17McNabb still thinks he'll play in 2012
Free agent QB Donovan McNabb said there's a 80-to-90 percent chance he'll play in the NFL this season.
McNabb, 36, has garnered no known interest on the open market this offseason. However, he says he has "about three teams that I'm looking at." McNabb will probably need a rash of injuries at the quarterback position during training camp just to land a backup gig.

Tue May 15 201209:41Andy Reid goes to bat for McNabb
Eagles coach Andy Reid would "highly recommend" free agent Donovan McNabb.
"I still think he can play," Reid said Monday. "He looks physically good. He looks like he could go out and play tomorrow." With journeyman Trent Edwards, the unproven Mike Kafka and rookie Nick Foles behind Michael Vick in Philly, a McNabb reunion would make some sense on paper, but there's a zero percent chance it happens. Admittedly willing to play anywhere, McNabb isn't likely to be guaranteed anybody's No. 2 job.

Mon May 14 201210:58McNabb dropping weight this offseason
Free agent Donovan McNabb told SportsCenter Monday that he's dropped "15 to 20 pounds" while training with QB guru George Whitfield this offseason.
McNabb and Whitfield have focused on on-the-beach training, working in the sand and water. McNabb's physical fitness was a major issue in Minnesota last season, and in Washington the year before. Attempting to make a comeback at age 35, McNabb acknowledged that his wishlist consists of 32 potential suitors. In other words, he is willing to play anywhere as his career fades.

Sat May 5 201212:33McNabb has no plans to retire
Free agent Donovan McNabb says he has no plans to retire, and is hoping to sign with a team before training camp.
McNabb had previously said he was "undecided" about retirement. "I sort of have some unfinished business," McNabb said in a Friday radio interview. McNabb says he's been "training hard" with quarterback guru George Whitfield. McNabb hasn't taken a single visit this offseason, and can't hope for more than a No. 3 job at this stage of free agency.

Sun Apr 29 201220:53McNabb undecided about retirement
Free agent Donovan McNabb said Sunday that he's undecided about retirement.
McNabb got no pre-draft free agency nibbles, and he's probably not going to get any after the draft, either, with rosters filling up. McNabb appeared Sunday at former teammate Brian Dawkins' retirement ceremony. It was his first visit to the Eagles' NovaCare facility since his trade to the Redskins in 2010.

Wed Mar 28 201211:28Reid not considering McNabb as backup QB
Coach Andy Reid has not "entertained" the idea of free agent Donovan McNabb returning to the Eagles as a backup.
"I haven't gone there," said Reid. "I think it's tough for a guy that's been the guy for that long to come back." Translation: It's not going to happen. McNabb's agent recently said three teams were interested in his client, though he's not known to have made a visit yet. McNabb isn't going to land a starting job.

Tue Mar 13 201214:25McNabb noncommittal on backup job
The player rep for Donovan McNabb was noncommittal when asked if the free agent might accept a backup job this season.
"We really haven't discussed that yet," the agent said. "Right now he's weighing all of his options." McNabb is "keeping his options open" and "hasn't closed the door on anything." We wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he's thrown his last NFL pass.

Sun Feb 26 201204:12King: McNabb not seen as a starting QB
Free agent Donovan McNabb is "not seen as a starter by anyone I've spoken with," reports SI.com's Peter King.
Benched by three teams in three seasons, McNabb's best bet for finding work would be to embrace a backup/mentoring role. That's not going to happen, though, as McNabb emphasized this week that his top priority is "competing" for a starting job. Borderline delusional, McNabb has struggled with accuracy, mobility, arm strength, mechanics, commitment level, and conditioning over the past couple of years.

Sat Feb 25 201212:57Vikings not required to send McNabb pick
The Vikings will reportedly not be required to send their 2013 sixth-round pick to the Redskins to complete their July 2011 acquisition of Donovan McNabb.

Wed Feb 1 201220:30McNabb does not plan to retire
Free agent Donovan McNabb doesn't plan to retire this offseason.
"I see three teams in the NFL, right now, that I feel like I can add a little bit of flavor to," McNabb said. "I won't mention those teams. But, if the phone rings, there will be a lot of decisions to make on that." McNabb has not been amenable to backup jobs, and the 35-year-old drew no interest after the Vikings waived him on December 1. He'd have to accept a one-year, minimum deal.

Mon Dec 5 201116:08Bears not expected to sign Donovan McNabb
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, "it does not appear" that the Bears are a fit for free agent Donovan McNabb.
CSN Chicago reported Monday morning that the Bears would be "in conversations" with McNabb, but Schefter has reported twice today that it's probably not going to be a match. ESPN's Trent Dilfer and Tim Hasselbeck both believe Bears OC Mike Martz's offensive "nomenclature" would be far too difficult for any quarterback to learn after being signed off the street.

Mon Dec 5 201108:14Report: Bears will now consider adding McNabb
The Bears will "be in conversations" Monday about bringing in Donovan McNabb, sources tell CSNChicago.com.
Caleb Hanie was that bad against the Chiefs Sunday, completing 11-of-24 passes for 133 yards while throwing no touchdowns and three interceptions. While the "conversations" don't mean negotiations or serious talks, the Bears are now going to change course and at least consider adding McNabb. He's free to talk to any team after passing through waivers unclaimed last week.
