Tue Oct 15 201316:06Giants waive/injure backup RB Da'Rel Scott
Giants waived/injured RB Da'Rel Scott.
Scott suffered a serious hamstring injury in last Thursday's loss to the Bears. He'll revert to injured reserve if/when he clears waivers. The Giants are expected to sign a veteran back on Wednesday to take Scott's roster spot. Given major snaps this season, Scott responded by managing just 73 yards on 20 carries. Brandon Jacobs is locked in as the Giants' lead back until David Wilson (neck) returns.

Tue Oct 15 201309:16Da'Rel Scott likely to sit through bye
A source tells the Daily News that Da'Rel Scott (hamstring) could be out through the Week 9 bye.
By the time Week 10 comes around, the Giants could have both David Wilson (neck) and Andre Brown (leg) back in the fold. Scott will likely find himself back on the street once he's medically cleared.

Sat Oct 12 201310:55Da'Rel Scott (hamstring) out a 'few weeks'
Da'Rel Scott (hamstring) is expected to miss a "few weeks."
Scott strained his right hamstring late in Thursday night's loss to the Bears. With David Wilson's (neck) status for Week 7 also in question, Brandon Jacobs and Michael Cox are the only healthy running backs on the roster.

Thu Oct 10 201323:57Da'Rel Scott gains only 17 yards, injures leg
Da'Rel Scott rushed just four times for 17 yards in New York's Week 6 loss to the Bears, and departed late with a right leg injury.
He caught one pass for four yards. We'd imagine Scott was ticketed for a bigger role, but the Giants went with a one-man committee after Brandon Jacobs got off to a hot start, and largely stayed hot. Scott broke loose for a 13-yard run with the Giants rallying late in the fourth quarter, but blew a tire. He couldn't put any weight on his right leg as he was helped off the field. Scott also slipped on at least one other carry. Scott's Week 7 FLEX prospects are not bright.

Tue Oct 1 201316:11Giants waive No. 3 running back Da'Rel Scott
Giants waived RB Da'Rel Scott.
It's a surprising move, and a vote of confidence in shaky starter David Wilson. It's a sign the Giants are ready to start using Wilson in more passing situations. It leaves the G-Men with just used-up veteran Brandon Jacobs and practice-squad type Michael Cox behind Wilson. Scott rushed five times for 26 yards against the Chiefs on Sunday, but was averaging only 3.5 yards per carry. That number slumps to 3.0 for his career.

Sun Sep 29 201317:07Da'Rel Scott operates as passing-down back
Da'Rel Scott rushed five times for 26 yards and caught one pass for no yards in Sunday's Week 4 loss to the Chiefs.
Scott continues to play in all passing situations -- including third downs and four-minute drill. And he continues to hurt his team. Scott had a bad drop on a screen in this one and has no juice in the run game. With David Wilson gaining more and more trust, Scott's role should dwindle even further.

Sun Sep 22 201316:32Da'Rel Scott gets 3 touches in defeat
Giants RB Da'Rel Scott rushed once for five yards and caught two passes for 17 yards in Sunday's Week 3 loss at Carolina.
The Giants are using Scott strictly as a passing-down back, which isn't going to translate to fantasy value. He also has a limited skill set as a runner. Leave Scott quarantined to the waiver wire in 12-team leagues.

Sun Sep 15 201321:21Da'Rel Scott catches a touchdown in Week 2
Da'Rel Scott rushed for two yards on five carries and caught two passes for 30 yards and a touchdown in the Giants' Week 2 loss to the Broncos.
Scott had a knee scare earlier in the week. It didn't seem to affect him on Sunday. None of the three Giants' running backs could get anything going on the ground. Scott scored his touchdown deep into the fourth quarter in garbage time. He took a dump-off from Eli Manning and sprung into the end zone from 23 yards out. Scott isn't worth a roster spot in any re-draft formats.

Fri Sep 13 201313:49Da'Rel Scott listed as probable
Giants RB Da'Rel Scott (knee) is listed as probable for Week 2.
He practiced fully Friday. Scott is tentatively expected to receive the nominal "start" against Denver, but David Wilson should end up with more snaps and touches. We wouldn't even bother rostering Scott in fantasy leagues.

Thu Sep 12 201310:34Da'Rel Scott has a chance to play Sunday
The New York Daily News hears Da'Rel Scott (knee) still has a chance to play in Sunday's game against the Broncos.
Scott went down in Wednesday's practice, but the MRI results came back clean. He even has a chance to participate in Thursday's workout. Regardless, Scott will quickly revert to third on the depth chart if David Wilson can hang onto the ball and newly acquired Brandon Jacobs proves reliable on passing downs.

Tue Sep 10 201309:05Da'Rel Scott not expected to retain big role
ESPN New York believes the Giants' interest in veteran running backs is about getting a better backup than Da'Rel Scott.
The Giants had a running back workout scheduled even before David Wilson's Sunday Night Football meltdown. That's because they wanted a replacement for Andre Brown (leg) without having to guarantee a contract for the whole year. Fantasy owners that add Scott this week are going to end up disappointed -- he might not even retain the backup gig for very long.

Mon Sep 9 201300:33Da'Rel Scott replaces Wilson in second half
Da'Rel Scott rushed five times for 23 yards in Sunday night's Week 1 loss to the Cowboys.
With David Wilson benched due to fumbling and pass protection issues, Scott took over lead back duties in the third quarter and stayed in for the remainder of the game. He had 51 receiving yards and was targeted eight times by Eli Manning, finishing with 70 yards of total offense. Scott is a replacement-level talent and dropped a pass that resulted in a pick-six and cost the Giants a chance at making a comeback. It not clear what Wilson's role will be in Week 2 after his disastrous performance, but look for GM Jerry Reese to add a veteran running back to the mix.

Wed Sep 4 201311:19Da'Rel Scott to get a crack at backup job?
A source tells NFL Network that the Giants will wait and see how Da'Rel Scott performs Sunday before considering a veteran addition at running back.
It's notable for two reasons. First, it suggests that Scott is ahead of Michael Cox in the battle to back up explosive workhorse David Wilson. Second, it confirms that the Giants don't want to sign a veteran like Jonathan Dwyer or Beanie Wells before Week 1 because they would then have to guarantee their contract for the whole year. Wilson owners looking for a handcuff are trapped in wait-and-see mode. We're highly skeptical Scott can be anything more than a change-of-pace scatback.

Sat Oct 20 201216:20Giants place RB Scott on injured reserve
Giants placed RB Da'Rel Scott (knee) on season-ending injured reserve.
Scott underwent a right knee debridement on Wednesday. In layman's terms, it was essentially a clean-up procedure to remove loose debris and tissue. The second-year back out of Maryland rushed for nine yards on six carries in 2012. The Giants needed the roster spot for Chris Canty's activation off PUP.

Wed Oct 17 201210:49Da'Rel Scott has his kne cleaned out
Giants RB Da'Rel Scott underwent a right knee debridement.
It's essentially a clean-out procedure of the meniscus. Scott has appeared in four games this year, but only recorded an offensive touch in one of those outings.

Mon Jan 2 201201:09Da'Rel Scott injures knee
Rookie Giants RB Da'Rel Scott suffered a hyperextended knee in New York's Week 17 win over the Cowboys, but said he was fine afterward.
Scott didn't return after going down late in the first half, but sounds like he'll be good to go for New York's Wild Card tilt with the Falcons. Limited to 29 total yards on seven touches in 11 games, the seventh-round pick is far from a guarantee for a 2012 roster spot.
