Former Patriots RB Kevin Faulk has retired from football.
Faulk, now 35, played all 13 of his NFL seasons with New England after being selected with the 46th overall pick in the 1999 draft. A versatile pass-blocking specialist and early-career kickoff returner, Faulk finishes his career with 33 all-purpose touchdowns, 431 receptions, and 3,607 rushing yards. Faulk was a part of three Super Bowl winners and a member of the Pats' 2000s All-Decade team. He's sure to earn himself a spot in the Patriots' Ring of Honor. Faulk is New England's franchise record holder in catches by a running back, all-purpose yardage, and kick return yards.

Faulk began the year on the PUP list after tearing his ACL in September of 2010. Faulk remains hopeful of re-signing with the Patriots, but is adamant he'll retire if the interest isn't mutual. "I'm being patient, still working out, but at the same time, doing what I have to do to maintain me and my family."

Sun Jan 15 201208:33Kevin Faulk likely to retire
According to the Boston Globe, Kevin Faulk will likely retire at the end of the Patriots' postseason run.
Hardly a surprise, as Faulk was active for only seven games after coming off the PUP list on October 29. He carried the ball 17 times for 57 yards while hauling in seven catches for 34 yards. Four months shy of his 36th birthday and roughly 16 months removed from a torn ACL, Faulk has simply lost his burst. His leadership and pass blocking will be missed, but the Patriots have as much backfield depth as any team in the league.

Mon Nov 14 201101:40Kevin Faulk bottled up in win
Kevin Faulk rushed five times for eight yards in Sunday's win over the Jets.
Faulk was held without a catch. Brittle and inconsistent, there's no reason to keep the 35-year-old third-down back on your bench in PPR leagues.

Tue Nov 8 201109:28Kevin Faulk could have played in Week 9
Coach Bill Belichick said Kevin Faulk (knee) was "close" to being active for Week 9.
It sounds like Faulk just had some soreness after making his 2011 debut in Week 8 and leading the backfield in snaps. "We felt like there were other players that were a little more ready than he was," Belichick said. Faulk's absence allowed Danny Woodhead to rack up 42 snaps against the Giants.

Sun Nov 6 201114:59Kevin Faulk inactive for Patriots vs. Giants
Patriots declared RB Kevin Faulk, WR Taylor Price, QB Ryan Mallett, OG Donald Thomas, DL Shaun Ellis, LB Jermaine Cunningham and LB Dane Fletcher inactive for Week 9 against the Giants.
As we suspected, the 35-year-old Faulk's surgically repaired knee did not respond well to 11 touches in his first game back last week. Danny Woodhead will pick up snaps as the passing-down specialist, but he's no more than a flex option in PPR formats. Price won't play after the Patriots talked about expanding his role this week.
