The Chicago White Sox acquired right-handed reliever
Franklin German from the Boston Red Sox on Friday in exchange for right-hander Theo Denlinger. To make room on the 40-man roster, the White Sox designated right-hander
Jason Bilous for assignment. The Red Sox had designated German for assignment on Monday to make room on the roster for reliever
Richard Bleier. German, 25, made his major-league debut last year for Boston, but he surrendered a whopping eight earned runs on seven hits (two homers) while walking four and striking out four in four relief innings. He was much better on the farm for the BoSox in 2022, but German will likely open up the 2023 campaign in the minors.
