Tue Aug 2015:15Jeimer Candelario Placed On Injured List
The Cincinnati Reds placed third baseman Jeimer Candelario (toe) on the injured list on Tuesday with a left-toe fracture and added infielder Amed Rosario to the active roster. Candelario is hitting .225/.279/.429 with 20 homers, 56 RBI, and 47 runs scored while adding four stolen bases in 112 games. The Reds added infielder Amed Rosario to the active roster after acquiring him off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers. Rosario, who was traded to the Dodgers by the Tampa Bay Rays at the trade deadline, hit a combined .305/.331/.415 with two homers, 28 RBI, 23 runs scored and 10 stolen bases. Rosario will have some appeal to fantasy managers who need stolen bases as he joins a Reds team that has swiped 168 bags.

Sun Aug 1814:12Amed Rosario Headed To Cincinnati
Former Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Amed Rosario was designated for assignment this week and will now head to Cincinnati. This was a surprising move as the Dodgers traded for the infielder at the trade deadline but recently let him go when Mookie Betts (hand) returned from the injured list. The veteran infielder has held a solid .305/.331/.415 line with two home runs and 10 stolen bases across 81 games this summer. Fantasy managers should expect Rosario to serve as a depth utility infielder in Cincinnati as Jonathan India, Noelvi Marte, and Elly De La Cruz have second base, shortstop, and third base covered on most nights. Rosario could be worth a look in deeper NL-only formats if he is given consistent playing time, as he should produce a solid AVG with the upside for speed.

Mon Aug 1219:47Amed Rosario Cut By Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers designated infielder/outfielder Amed Rosario for assignment on Monday and activated infielder/outfielder Mookie Betts (hand) from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Rosario, who was acquired in a trade from the Tampa Bay Rays just two weeks ago at the end of July, became expendable with Betts making his long-awaited return. The 28-year-old Dominican veteran appeared in only five games with the Dodgers and went 3-for-11 with a double, two RBI and a stolen base after he hit .307 (81-for-264) with two homers, 26 RBI and nine stolen bases in 76 games for the Rays earlier this year. If Rosario isn't claimed by another team off waivers, he'll surely latch on with another organization as outfield and infield depth as a free agent. Betts has returned to right field for LA, so veterans Miguel Rojas and Nick Ahmed will share shortstop duties for the foreseeable future.

Mon Jul 2921:10Dodgers Acquire Amed Rosario Monday
The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired infielder/outfielder Amed Rosario from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for minor-league right-hander Michael Flynn. The team designated left-hander Ryan Yarbrough for assignment in order to make room for Rosario. After acquiring speedy utility man Tommy Edman (wrist) earlier on Monday, the Dodgers add another versatile depth piece that can bounce around the diamond. The 28-year-old veteran is batting a strong .307 (81-for-264) with 17 doubles and nine stolen bases in 76 games this season, but he doesn't provide much in the way of power overall with two home runs and 26 RBI. Until Mookie Betts (hand) gets activated from the injured list, Rosario should get fairly consistent playing time at second base, shortstop, and right field while seeing his fantasy value go up in LA's vaunted lineup. As for the Rays, Curtis Mead should see more action at the keystone.

Fri Jul 2608:18Amed Rosario Swipes Two Bags
Tampa Bay Rays utilityman Amed Rosario joined in on the fun in the team's 13-0 victory versus the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday. Rosario started at third base and went 3-for-6 with a pair of runs and two stolen bases. The veteran has had a nice comeback season in Tampa Bay with a .311 batting average to go along with two homers, 26 RBI and nine stolen bases, but he hasn't gotten consistent playing time. That could all change with the trade of outfielder Randy Arozarena on Thursday night. If Rosario were to see an uptick in playing time, his versatility could make him a solid end-of-the-roster bat in deeper mixed leagues. However, other than speed and batting average, he doesn't offer much to be excited about.

Sat Jun 2914:41Amed Rosario On The Bench Saturday
Tampa Bay Rays utility player Amed Rosario is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the visiting Washington Nationals and right-hander Jake Irvin. The 28-year-old has been rather productive at the plate in his first season with the Rays, hitting .296 with a .727 OPS in 62 games. At the same time, he has hit just two homers on the season -- and none since April 17 -- while walking in just 3.1% of his trips to the plate. His 110 wRC+ tells us that he has been valuable to the Rays but fantasy managers have been unable to extract much value from the veteran's counting stats which include 18 runs, 24 RBI, and seven steals on the season. Rosario is a decent middle infield fantasy player for leagues that count batting average but he has largely been fantasy irrelevant this season.

Mon Apr 2913:27Amed Rosario Struggles To Connect On Sunday
Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Amed Rosario struggled in Sunday's 4-2 loss against the Chicago White Sox. Rosario went 1-for-4 with one strikeout and a hit-by-pitch to end a tough weekend series. The Rays shortstop went 2-for-12 (.167) with one RBI, one run, two walks, and three strikeouts in the three games against the White Sox. He has been a solid starter for fantasy managers this season, though, hitting .320 (31-for-97) with five doubles, one triple, 13 RBI, eight runs, two homers, 13 walks, and fourteen strikeouts in 26 starts. He'll kick the week off with a tough matchup versus Milwaukee, but his fantasy upside remains high and desirable for managers.

Wed Feb 2118:14Amed Rosario To Serve In Utility Role
Tampa Bay Rays president of baseball operations Erik Neander said that the plan is to play infielder Amed Rosario at both middle-infield positions and in the corner-outfield spots in 2024 after signing him to a one-year, $1.5 million deal on Tuesday. Rosario will give the Rays more insurance at the 6 with Wander Franco potentially never playing for the team again given his off-the-field issues, but Jose Caballero will remain the primary option at shortstop. The 28-year-old Rosario has been a lefty killer in his career, so between multiple positions with the Rays in 2024, the Dominican infielder should play rather regularly when the club faces a left-handed pitcher. He'll be most attractive as a low-cost DFS play against southpaws, but with modest power and speed, Rosario's fantasy ceiling is low.

Tue Feb 2014:53Amed Rosario Agrees With Rays On One-Year Deal
Free-agent infielder Amed Rosario and the Tampa Bay Rays agreed on Tuesday to a one-year, $1.5 million deal, according to sources. The 28-year-old will bring a strong bat against left-handed pitching and should get at-bats at shortstop, second base and potentially in the corner-outfield spots in 2024. It's more insurance for the Rays at shortstop with the possibility that Wander Franco will never play in the big leagues again. Rosario is a career .272 hitter in seven major-league seasons, and he slashed .263/.305/.378 with six home runs, 58 RBI, 15 stolen bases and 70 runs scored in 142 games last year with the Guardians and Dodgers. The move to Tampa makes the veteran infielder more attractive as a deep-mixed corner infielder and for DFS lineups against lefties, who he has hit .298/.339/.467 against in his career.

Fri Sep 8 202308:41Amed Rosario Stays Hot Thursday
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Amed Rosario put up a multi-hit game on Thursday, going 2-for-5 with a run and two RBI, helping his club blowout the Miami Marlins 10-0. The seven-year veteran is having an excellent September thus far, batting .375 over six games. Across 127 games overall this season, Rosario owns a .262/.303/.379 slash line with six homers, 63 runs, 56 RBI, and 13 stolen bases. Those are serviceable numbers in standard formats, but the 27-year-old is stuck in a platoon, making him a deep league option for the remainder of the season.

Wed Aug 9 202320:07Amed Rosario Getting A Day Off
Los Angeles Dodgers middle infielder Amed Rosario is taking the day off on Wednesday in the series finale against the Arizona Diamondbacks. With Rosario resting, Mookie Betts is at the keystone and hitting leadoff, with Miguel Rojas at shortstop and hitting ninth against Diamondbacks right-hander Merrill Kelly. Rosario has certainly been more attractive in fantasy with the move from the Cleveland Guardians to the Dodgers at this year's trade deadline. The 27-year-old Dominican isn't always going to be in the starting lineup for a stacked Dodgers squad, but he has made the most of his opportunities so far in LA. In 10 games for the Blue, he's gone 8-for-32 (.250) with two homers, two doubles, nine RBI, a steal and five runs scored. Overall, Rosario is hitting a .264 (110-for-417) with five homers, 49 RBI, 10 steals and 56 runs scored in 2023.

Wed Jul 26 202319:11Dodgers Acquire Amed Rosario
The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired shortstop Amed Rosario from the Cleveland Guardians on Wednesday. This deal makes sense for the Dodgers who have experienced issues in the field all season long. Rosario is on the last year of his deal before free agency, so it sounds like Guardians weren't interested in extending him long term. Rosario is slashing .265/.306/.369 with three home runs and 40 RBI across 90 games. The expectation is that he'll have similar fantasy value in Los Angeles. There is no word yet on what the Guardians are receiving in exchange for Rosario.

Sun Jul 23 202312:08Amed Rosario Takes A Seat Against Phillies
Cleveland Guardians shortstop Amed Rosario will take a day off on Sunday with the team facing the visiting Philadelphia Phillies. Rosario will get a much-needed day to rest after starting each of the team's last 38 games. He's had a solid month of July to this point and is currently riding a modest five-game hitting streak in which he's gone 6-for-22 (.273) with a home run, a double, six RBI and five runs scored in 23 plate appearances. Overall, the 27-year-old Dominican is hitting .261/.303/.356 with only three home runs, 17 doubles, five triples, 40 RBI, nine stolen bases and 49 runs scored in 91 games in his third year in Cleveland. Tyler Freeman is starting at the 6 on Sunday and is in the two-hole against Phillies right-hander Aaron Nola.

Wed Jul 19 202316:40Amed Rosario Drives In Two In Wednesday's Loss
Cleveland Guardians shortstop Amed Rosario went 1-for-5 with a double, two RBI, a run scored, and a strikeout in a 7-5 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday. Rosario did all of his damage in the fifth inning when he sliced a double off Rich Hill to score Myles Straw and Steven Kwan. Josh Bell would then single in Rosario in that same frame to give Cleveland a 4-0 lead. The 27-year-old shortstop did nothing in his fourth other plate appearances, unfortunately. Rosario has been a bit underwhelming so far this season, as has most of Cleveland's offense outside of Jose Ramirez and Josh Naylor. However, while he's hitting just .194 (6-for-31) over the last seven games, he's slashing a rock-solid .313/.341/.420 with 22 RBI over the last 30 games. Overall, Rosario owns a .262/.305/.360 batting line with three home runs, 39 RBI, and nine stolen bases across 367 at-bats.

Wed Jun 7 202316:05Amed Rosario Back In Action Against Boston
Cleveland Guardians shortstop Amed Rosario (knee) is back at shortstop and is hitting second on Wednesday against Boston Red Sox right-hander Kutter Crawford. Rosario will return to the team's starting lineup after missing a couple of games with left-knee soreness, but he'll be available for fantasy managers again Wednesday. Gabriel Arias will return to the bench as a result. Aside from eight stolen bases on the year, Rosario has done very little offensively for fantasy managers, and he's hitting just .146 (6-for-41) with three doubles and four RBI in his last 12 games. In 211 total at-bats in 2023, the 27-year-old Dominican is slashing only .227/.273/.318 with one long ball and 14 RBI.

Sun Jun 4 202313:35Amed Rosario Absent From The Guardians Lineup
Cleveland Guardians shortstop Amed Rosario (knee) is not in the lineup on Sunday against the Minnesota Twins. Rosario left Saturday's contest early with left knee soreness so Sunday's absence is likely related to that. Hopefully, this extra maintenance day will help the 27-year-old avoid the injured list. Tyler Freeman is taking over at shortstop and batting second against Joe Ryan in Rosario's place.

Sat Jun 3 202321:25Amed Rosario Exits With Knee Soreness
Cleveland Guardians shortstop/outfielder Amed Rosario (knee) exited Saturday's game early against the Minnesota Twins with left knee soreness. He went 0-for-2 before leaving. Tyler Freeman replaced the 27-year-old in the fourth inning. The severity of Rosario's knee issue is unknown, and he's considered day-to-day. Cleveland will provide an update on Rosario after the game. He has struggled this season, slashing .220/.270/.314 with one homer, 13 RBI, 24 runs, and eight stolen bases across 52 games. Freeman would see an uptick in at-bats if Rosario were to miss additional games.

Sat May 27 202322:29Amed Rosario Hits Two Doubles In Saturday's Loss
Cleveland Guardians shortstopAmed Rosariowent 2-for-5 with two doubles in Saturday's loss to the St. Cardinals. It's difficult to score or drive in runs anywhere in Cleveland's lineup right now as their struggles continue, but Rosario continues to bat second in the order. His average on the season certainly improved Saturday, but he's still hitting .243 for the year. Overall, the 27-year-old is slashing .243/.283/.346 with a homer, 13 RBI, 22 runs, and eight stolen bases over 198 plate appearances. Rosario hit at least .282 in each of the last two seasons for Cleveland, so there should be some optimism that he'll eventually turn things around, and Saturday was a step in the right direction.

Sun May 7 202314:28Amed Rosario Gets Rare Rest Day Sunday
Cleveland Guardians shortstop Amed Rosario is out of Sunday's lineup for their series finale against the Twins. He has started 12 consecutive outings dating back to April 22 as Cleveland's everyday two-hole hitter. The 27-year-old is watching his ownership percentage in some fantasy leagues begin to drop a bit, slashing a mere .214/.254/.299 over 126 plate appearances in 2023. His six stolen bases are about the only saving grace for his fantasy value while he's laboring at the dish. Rosario is a hold in fantasy while still sandwiched in the Guardians lineup between table-setter Steven Kwan and superstar Jose Ramirez. Rosario is also quietly recording a 47% hard-hit rate so far, the highest clip of his career, and Andres Gimenez isn't posing much of threat to his spot in the lineup right now.
