Wed Sep 1117:36Eloy Jimenez Out Against A Right-Hander
Baltimore Orioles outfielder/designated hitter Eloy Jimenez is not in the team's starting lineup on Wednesday at Fenway Park against the division-rival Boston Red Sox. Jimenez finds himself on the bench again in favor of Anthony Santander, who is serving as the DH and batting third against Red Sox right-hander Nick Pivetta. Austin Slater is in right field and is batting seventh for the O's. Jimenez, 27, continues to see infrequent playing time in Baltimore towards the end of the season. He's now played in 29 games in Baltimore since being acquired in late July by the Chicago White Sox, and he's slashed a mediocre .253/.293/.345 with only one home run, five RBI and seven RBI in his 92 plate appearances. Without frequent playing time in Baltimore, it's hard to recommend holding Jimenez in most mixed fantasy leagues.

Mon Sep 212:26Coby Mayo, Eloy Jimenez Sitting Against White Sox
Baltimore Orioles rookie third baseman Coby Mayo and outfielder/designated hitter Eloy Jimenez will both start Monday's game on the bench against the Chicago White Sox at Camden Yards. Emmanuel Rivera will get the start at third base and will bat ninth, while Austin Slater will start in right field and bat seventh against White Sox right-hander Chris Flexen. Anthony Santander is the designated hitter and is batting cleanup. Mayo, the team's top prospect per MLB Pipeline, got the call-up on Sunday when rosters expanded and went 1-for-2 with a run scored and a strikeout in just his eighth big-league game. The 22-year-old has only two hits and 11 strikeouts in his first 23 major-league plate appearances in Baltimore, but he figures to see the majority of playing time at the hot corner for the O's with both Ramon Urias (ankle) and ... Thu Aug 1516:02Eloy Jimenez Absent Against Boston
Baltimore Orioles outfielder/designated hitter Eloy Jimenez will take a seat on Thursday against the division-rival Boston Red Sox at Camden Yards. With Jimenez sitting against a right-hander, catcher Adley Rutschman is serving as the designated hitter and is batting fifth, while Ryan O'Hearn plays first base and bats cleanup. James McCann is catching and batting ninth against Red Sox right-hander Nick Pivetta. Rutschman is a must-start in all fantasy lineups, while O'Hearn will be a nice low-cost DFS play at first base in the cleanup spot. He's also hitting .333 with a homer and two at-bats in his career against Pivetta with a 1.166 OPS. Jimenez has gone 12-for-29 (.414) with two doubles and four RBI in his first 10 games since joining the O's in a trade from the Chicago White Sox, but he's settled into the short side of a platoon with O'Hearn, which limits his fantasy upside to close out the year.

Tue Aug 1318:51Eloy Jimenez Gets Breather
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Eloy Jimenez is out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Washington Nationals. The O's have decided to give the oft-injured slugger the day off after he started in four straight games. Jimenez is off to a hot start with his new team. He's 12-for-24 with four RBI in eight games with the O's. Ryan O'Hearn will get the start at designated hitter and bat cleanup versus right-hander Jake Irvin. O'Hearn is hitting .274 with 12 home runs and 45 RBI against right-handed pitching this season. He could be a low-end streaming option against Irvin who has allowed four earned runs or more in each of his last two starts.

Sat Aug 1018:47Eloy Jimenez Catching Breather On Saturday
Baltimore Orioles designated hitter Eloy Jimenez is taking a seat on Saturday night as they face Drew Rasmussen and the Tampa Bay Rays. Anthony Santander will be hitting in the DH spot while Austin Slater will be taking Santander's outfield role and will hit seventh. Jimenez has been a great acquisition for the Orioles as the 27-year-old is 11-21 with his new club. Him taking a seat shouldn't worry fantasy managers as it appears Baltimore is taking more of a platoon approach to tonight's matchup. With Slater getting the extra opportunity tonight, he is hitting for a .576 OPS on the season and only has seven PA with his new team, though he is three-for-five with two walks in his short stint in Baltimore. DFS managers willing to take a chance on Slater may get him at a cheap cost, but the move may be risky. Fantasy managers should expect Jimenez to be back in the lineup tomorrow against Rays' scheduled starter Jeffrey Springs.

Tue Jul 3018:46Eloy Jimenez Traded To Orioles
The Chicago White Sox continued their fire sale as they traded outfielder Eloy Jimenez to the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday. This is a sneaky move by the O's as Jimenez isn't too far removed from being one of the more exciting prospects in baseball. This season, Jimenez is slashing .240/.297/.345 with five home runs and 16 RBI in 65 games. The oft-injured outfielder has a ton of potential but staying on the field has been the biggest issue for him. It's uncertain where he'll play in Baltimore, but a designated hitter spot is best suited for him. In exchange, the White Sox will receive left-hander Trey McGough. A 26-year-old that has posted a 1.99 ERA across 28 appearances between Double-A and Triple-A this season.

Mon Jul 2217:22Eloy Jimenez Retreats To The Bench
Chicago White Sox outfielder/designated hitter Eloy Jimenez will start Monday's contest against the hosting Texas Rangers on the bench. Gavin Sheets will serve as the designated hitter and bat fifth for the White Sox against Rangers right-hander Michael Lorenzen. In just eight career at-bats against Lorenzen, Sheets is hitting .375 with a .944 OPS and an RBI, making him more attractive in DFS contests. Jimenez is being rested more regularly of late and is batting .250 (18-for-72) with no home runs, two doubles, four RBI, seven walks and 15 strikeouts in 22 games (17 starts) since coming off the injured list on June 23. The 27-year-old Dominican outfielder missed substantial time in the first half due to injury and has been a disappointment for the worst team in baseball. Jimenez is sitting on just five home runs, 16 RBI and three stolen bases in his 206 at-bats.

Sat Jul 612:34Eloy Jimenez Out Against Marlins
Chicago White Sox outfielder/designated Eloy Jimenez is not in the team's starting lineup on Saturday against the hosting Miami Marlins for the second game of the weekend series. Gavin Sheets is serving as the designated hitter and is batting cleanup, while Tommy Pham starts in right field and bats leadoff against Marlins right-hander Yonny Chirinos. Since missing around a month with an injury and returning on June 23, Jimenez has gone 10-for-38 (.263) with no home runs, two doubles, an RBI, four walks and seven strikeouts in 11 games played for the Pale Hose. The 27-year-old Dominican won't rack up many counting stats on the worst team in baseball, but when healthy, he's a lineup regular. Jimenez has failed to live up to the hype after hitting 31 homers in his rookie season in 2019. However, he has gone 7-for-19 with two runs scored in his last six games.

Sat Jun 2912:05Eloy Jimenez Takes A Seat On Saturday
Chicago White Sox outfielder/designated hitter Eloy Jimenez is getting the day off on Saturday versus the visiting Colorado Rockies. With Jimenez starting on the bench, outfielder Gavin Sheets (heel) will return to the lineup as the designated hitter and will bat cleanup against Rockies right-hander Cal Quantrill. Since returning from a long stay on the injured list on June 23, Jimenez has been rusty at the plate, going 3-for-19 (.158) with a double, RBI, walk, four strikeouts and two runs scored in five games played. The 27-year-old Dominican outfielder will continue to be a regular for the worst team in baseball, but fantasy managers obviously won't be able to count on much production from him. Jimenez is currently hitting just .222/.277/.359 on the year with five homers, 13 RBI and 14 runs scored in 41 games.

Mon Jun 2418:34Eloy Jimenez Remains In The Lineup
Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez (hamstring) remains in the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. This is somewhat surprising considering Jimenez mentioned experiencing hamstring soreness in his return on Sunday. Despite that, the oft-injured outfielder will remain in the starting lineup for Monday's game. He'll serve as the designated hitter and bat cleanup versus left-hander James Paxton.

Sun Jun 2312:37Eloy Jimenez Reinstated And Starting On Sunday
The Chicago White Sox reinstated outfielder/designated hitter Eloy Jimenez (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list on Sunday and optioned outfielder Oscar Colas to Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move. Jimenez is right back in the starting lineup on Sunday against the Detroit Tigers and right-hander Reese Olson, serving as the designated hitter and batting third in the order. In seven career at-bats against Olson, Jimenez hasn't recorded a single hit. The 27-year-old has been sidelined since straining his left hamstring on May 21, but he went 8-for-18 with a homer, double and five RBI on his minor-league rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League. Despite his inability to stay on the field consistently due to injuries, Jimenez deserves to be rostered in most fantasy leagues now that he's back in the fold.

Thu May 2321:49Eloy Jimenez Likely Out At Least One Month
Chicago White Sox general manager Chris Getz said during Thursday's game against the visiting Baltimore Orioles that designated hitter Eloy Jimenez (hamstring) is expected to miss "a month or so." It specifies Jimenez's return timetable after manager Pedro Grifol stated earlier on Thursday that an extended absence was in store for the outfielder as he recovers from a strained left hamstring, which he sustained in Monday's contest against the Toronto Blue Jays. The oft-injured 27-year-old slugger may have stolen a career-high three bases across 36 games as Chicago's everyday DH before going down, but he was slashing a career-worst .231/.288/.381 with five home runs, five doubles, and 12 RBI through 134 at-bats. Jimenez isn't the strongest stash in most fantasy leagues.

Thu May 2317:58Eloy Jimenez Will Be Out For An Extended Period
Chicago White Sox designated hitter Eloy Jimenez (hamstring) will miss an extended amount of time with his most recent injury, according to manager Pedro Grifol. The 27-year-old was placed on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with a left hamstring strain. Jimenez heading to the shelf is a familiar sight for fantasy managers throughout the years as the former top prospect has dealt with a multitude of injuries over his MLB career. He has not hit over 20 home runs in a season since his rookie year in 2019. At this point, there is no real reason to keep Jimenez on any fantasy rosters with an extended absence looming.

Wed May 2216:16Eloy Jimenez Lands On 10-Day Injured List
The Chicago White Sox placed outfielder/designated hitter Eloy Jimenez (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with a left-hamstring strain and recalled outfielder Zach DeLoach from Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move. Jimenez will head to the sidelines after straining his hamstring on Tuesday against the Toronto Blue Jays. Given the 27-year-old's lengthy injury history, fantasy managers shouldn't expect him to be ready by the end of his 10 days on the IL. It's already Jimenez's second trip to the IL in 2024. He hit 31 homers in his rookie season in 2019 but has not surpassed the 20-homer mark in four seasons since then and has only played in 100-plus games in two of his five MLB campaigns. It's becoming harder to justify holding him in shallow mixed fantasy leagues because of the fact that he's a non-entity in the stolen base department (just three in his career).

Tue May 2121:12Eloy Jimenez Leaves With Hamstring Strain
Chicago White Sox designated hitter Eloy Jimenez (hamstring) exited Tuesday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays with a strained left hamstring, and he's being further evaluated. Jimenez was seen limping a bit after scoring a run during the fifth inning, going 2-for-3 with a double before departing, and Gavin Sheets hit for him in the DH spot in the seventh. The oft-injured 27-year-old slugger has made only appearance in the field this season, and he's slashing a career-worst .231/.288/.381 with five home runs, five doubles, and 12 RBI with a career-high three stolen bases through 134 at-bats (36 games) as Chicago's everyday DH. Jimenez will almost certainly be absent for Wednesday's series finale against Toronto, and fantasy managers can only hope he isn't dealing with a severe strain that could send him to the injured list.

Wed May 1509:35Eloy Jimenez Warming Up
Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez went 1-for-3 with a home run and a walk in Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader versus the Washington Nationals. Jimenez has begun to heat up with seven hits over his last 27 at-bats, but his solo home run on Tuesday are his only counting stats in that time. For the season, Jimenez is hitting .221 with five homers and 12 RBI in 113 at-bats. The power has never been a question for Jimenez, but his plate discipline and health have been huge concerns throughout his career. As long as he remains healthy, Jimenez offers good power to managers in all formats, but he is also a strong sell-high candidate when he starts heating up with him only playing more than 84 games twice in his career.

Wed May 112:26Eloy Jimenez Not Starting Wednesday
Chicago White Sox outfielder/designated hitter Eloy Jimenez is not present in the team's starting lineup on Wednesday versus the visiting Minnesota Twins. This will be Jimenez's first day off after playing in 14 straight games following his activation from the injured list in the middle of last month. Since returning from his injury, he's hit .255/.328/.436 with three home runs and a stolen base for fantasy managers. After a scheduled off day on Thursday, he should return to his DH duties on Friday on the road in St. Louis against the Cardinals. Robbie Grossman is serving as Chicago's DH on Wednesday and is hitting leadoff for the Pale Hose against Twins right-hander Bailey Ober. Grossman is batting .600 in five career at-bats against Ober and will have elevated DFS sleeper appeal on Wednesday in the leadoff spot despite going just 11-for-57 (.193) this year.

Tue Apr 1619:07Eloy Jimenez In, Andrew Vaughn Out On Tuesday
Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez is back as the designated hitter and is batting third on Tuesday against the Kansas City Royals and right-hander Brady Singer, while first baseman Andrew Vaughn is getting the day off. Jimenez was activated from the injured list on Monday but wasn't in the starting lineup before getting a pinch-hit appearance later in the game. The White Sox are going to ease him back into the fold, but he could see more appearances in the outfield after starting there only 14 of 118 times in 2023. Vaughn has gone 1-for-16 in the last four games and 10-for-58 with no homers and three RBI to begin the year, so he's deserving of a rest. Gavin Sheets is at first base and is batting cleanup on Tuesday.

Tue Apr 1612:29Eloy Jimenez Could Play Outfield Again
Chicago White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said there was no recovery related reason for outfielder Eloy Jimenez not starting on Monday against the Kansas City Royals after he was activated from the injured list. Grifol said they are getting their cleanup hitter back but are also easing him back in after his groin injury. The 27-year-old could play some outfield again now that he's back, but Gavin Sheets will probably play the outfielder sooner. Jimenez had yet to play the outfield before his injury and started only 14 times in the outfield a year ago. It would be nice if Jimenez played enough outfield in 2024 to gain eligibility there for fantasy managers, but that's no guarantee. As long as Luis Robert Jr. (hip) remains sidelined, both Jimenez and Sheets should be lineup regulars for the Pale Hose.

Mon Apr 1517:09Eloy Jimenez Back From Injured List
The Chicago White Sox activated outfielder/designated hitter Eloy Jimenez (groin) from the 10-day injured list on Monday. Jimenez was taking balls in right field before Monday's contest against the visiting Kansas City Royals but is not in the starting lineup. In a corresponding move, the team optioned infielder Zach Remillard to Triple-A Charlotte. Jimenez hasn't played since suffering a left-groin strain on March 31, so the White Sox have chosen to have him start his first game back on the bench. With Luis Robert Jr. (hip) and Yoan Moncada (groin) out for extended time, Jimenez should play regularly now that he's back from the IL, which will make it more difficult for Gavin Sheets to see regular at-bats moving forward. The oft-injured Jimenez has played in 100-plus games in just two of his previous five MLB seasons.
