Mariners acquired 3B Francisco Martinez from the Tigers in the Doug Fister deal. |
Martinez, 20, was ranked by Baseball America coming into the season as the Tigers' fourth-best prospect, but he was blocked by Nick Castellanos and thus was viewed by Detroit as expendable. He hasn't been terribly productive in the minors to this point and sports a .279/.316/.402 batting line with seven homers this season for Double-A Erie. He's young for the Eastern League, though, and profiles as a solid regular if he can reach his potential. |
